The Alicia Minshew Interview – All My Children

© JPI Studios

When On-Air On-Soaps last sat down with All My Children’s Alicia Minshew (Kendall Hart Slater) it was back in August of last year shortly after she returned to the set of the soap after her maternity leave, and her move to the west coast to be with the newly transplanted series.  Several months later, things have changed drastically for one of daytime’s most fiery and prominent young actresses.  First, Thorsten Kaye (Zach) who had decided he was not going to make a permanent move to L.A. was written off the show when the powers-that-be “killed” Zach in a plane crash.  That major plot development spelled the end for Zendall, and thrust Minshew into endless storyline possibilities.

Then came word that heartthrob Jordi Vilasuso was cast in the role of Dr. Griffin Castillo, and that he was being brought in for a relationship to develop on-screen with Kendall.  Now during February Sweeps, devastating and cataclysmic events bring Griffin and Kendall into each other’s orbit through medical crisis after crisis.  You see, Kendall’s heart is giving her a whole heap of trouble again, and at the same time she is remembering something she truly blocked out of her mind!  What is that you ask?  She shot David Hayward, the man she believes is responsible for her late husband’s death!

So, as All My Children is about to kick off a two week story arc which puts the life of Kendall in grave danger, Minshew sat down with us on the set of AMC to give us some insight and inside scoop on what we can expect, plus we discuss her Emmy-worthy performance for the scenes in which she found out Zach had died.  We also get the skinny on working with all her new co-stars, and her thoughts on missing her beloved scene-partner, Thorsten.  Here’s our follow-up with one of our favorites… Alicia Minshew!

MICHAEL:

Kendall never used to have so many health problems as she has had in recent years. What gives?

© JPI Studios

ALICIA:

I think ever since her heart transplant that is what is going on, and then Zack died.  So between the heart and the husband, she is screwed.

MICHAEL:

During our last interview when you had just moved to L.A. and returned to All My Children, we talked about if Zach were no longer in the picture (since Thorsten Kaye was not planning on staying with the show) and if there would be a new man in Kendall’s life. You had said, “I hope they don’t push Kendall in another romantic relationship too fast.” That being said, how do you think the pacing is going with Jordi Vilasuso as Griffin, who seems set to be set to be your next on-screen flame?

ALICIA:

I think they are doing a really good job so far of not pushing anything.  Obviously, the fans know where it may go, but it is still a long ways away and they are still having Kendall mourn Zach.  Her relationship with Griffin is progressing naturally.  I mean, he does save her life.  So obviously, that boosts him up to a better place in her eyes.  So I think she is going to see him in a different way, and really respect him and care about him as a person. They are not pushing them together, though, which I like.

MICHAEL:

Kendall is not going to go around and have rebound-sex with Griffin or other men, is she?  Because previously, we talked about whether Kendall would go on a toot in her grief over Zach?

ALICIA:

No, now that the love of her life is really gone, she is in a whole other place.  Sex is the last thing on her mind, really and truly.  I think if she were going to rebound she would have done that already.  She has met all these cute people, such as Reverend Ricky and Griffin, but no, sex is so not on her radar right now.  And that is what I like, that they haven’t pushed it at all. They are having it gradually happen, so let’s see how this all happens and plays out.

© JPI Studios

MICHAEL:

Did you see that I named you the On-Air On-Soaps Power Performance of the Week for your performances when you found out Zach had died?

ALICIA:

No, that is so sweet!  Oh my God!  Was there something specific that you liked, or sort of the whole ensemble of it?

MICHAEL:

I liked the denial when Erica and Ryan first told you, and then later when you are standing alone in the hallway of the house and trying to process it, and Bianca comes to comfort Kendall.  It was just all about the different layers you played in it that I think were brilliant.

ALICIA:

It was written beautifully. I had great people to do the scenes with; such as Susan Lucci (Erica) and Christina Bennett Lind (Bianca), and Cameron Mathison (Ryan) and Rebecca Budig (Greenlee).  It was sad.  I am still sad.  I am sad for my character, and I was sad for me for missing Thorsten, and it was all part of the process.  But, it was a rough few weeks.

MICHAEL:

How did you get through the scenes when Zach died?  Here it signaled that Thorsten was gone.  Do you ever watch back your work? Have you watched those scenes?

ALICIA:

© JPI Studios

These days I don’t get to watch the show because I am a mom, and I work all day and come home to my baby.  If there are scenes I worked really hard on, I want to watch.  In this case, I got to watch most of them, but it’s so hard to see yourself.  But, I remember that day and I remember how I felt.  I always pick myself apart, but there were moments in watching it again where I cry.  (Laughs)  I cry, because I remember what I was feeling that day.  It was a painful day for me and I was so very sad.  I could not stop crying that day, as again, it was a really hard day for me.  It was very easy for me to go there and step right into that zone.

MICHAEL:

Would you submit those shows for an Emmy reel?  You 100% should!

ALICIA:

I don’t know!  That is always so hard to talk about.  If I had to choose something, maybe I would choose something from that, but it’s so hard when it’s your work.  It is horrible for me to have to do that.  I would have to help my producers help me, which I have done in the past. Because you really do pick yourself apart, it’s so tough! It was beautiful material overall, and there is always something I would have changed about my performance.  I always think, “I could have done that better.”  I think I am always going to be that way.  I am just one of those people.

MICHAEL:

Now with this new beat of the story for February Sweeps, Kendall is obviously having heart problems for the umpteenth time, and you get in this ambulance accident.  Can you kind of set the stage for me, what leads up to this?

ALICIA:

© JPI Studios

Yes, ultimately Kendall remembers that she is the one who shot David Hayward.  She is in the hospital because of her heart and she is stressed, because she went to visit David in jail for some reason and she collapses again.  She ends up in the hospital again and she realizes she shot him, and so she has to go tell her mother, Erica.  She has to tell her, “Mom, I know you have been covering to protect me.  I know I am the one who shot David, not you, and so you have to stop protecting me.”  So she busts out of the hospital and she is drugged up, about to have surgery on her heart, looking for her mother, to tell her she is the one who shot David.  But then, her heart gives out and she collapses in the snow, because she just could not take it.  Griffin finds her.  He calls Jake and Cara to bring her back to the hospital to quickly do this surgery.  And of course, to make matters worse, the ambulance crashes.  So now, she is slowly declining and then they say, “OK, well now we are going to have to operate on her right here in the ambulance.”  High Drama!

MICHAEL:

Do you have many lines in all this, or are you just lying there muttering through it all? (Laughs)

ALICIA:

(Laughs) I am muttering through it all.  However, we had a day where I had 17 scenes where I had to lay down a lot, and they made my face all white, but I did have some big emotional moments that I think the fans will love. At one point I think she is sort of knocked out and trying to figure out what is going on, and she is scared.  But who also gets involved to try and save her makes this whole story more interesting!

MICHAEL:

Of course, we all have our thoughts on that one! So, what do you really think of Jordi?

© JPI Studios

ALICIA:

I love Jordi.  He is very different than Thorsten. Thorsten is a very special kind of actor, and a very special man to me.  I still talk to him and he is a good friend of mine, and I will always stay in touch with him.  Thorsten has a very special place in my heart that nobody can replace.  Now as far as working with somebody new, first of all, Jordi is gorgeous, and not hard to look at.  He is really, really handsome.  Jordi is such a hard worker and he takes his job really seriously.  He is a great actor, and now that we are sort of finding our way with each other, we are having a lot of fun together, and it’s a whole different thing and different animal.  It’s apples and oranges and something new for me.  I am always open to working with new people, that is the fun of this whole business, and that is to work with new people.  Jordi brings something completely different.  I can’t even say, “Well, he is kind of like Thorsten.”  He is not… he is his own person.

MICHAEL:

Is there an issue brewing between Reverend Ricky (Eddie Matos) and Griffin over Kendall?

ALICIA:

The Reverend has really been comforting Kendall since the loss of Zach, and she leans on him.  He is the Reverend that did preside over Zach’s memorial.  Ultimately, I think she gets closer to him.  I don’t know how close, but I think it seems she is drawn to these two men for different reasons, and they don’t seem to like each other.  So, somewhere along the way they seem to be jealous of each other, or they don’t trust each other.  But I think ultimately, she might have to choose between the two of them.  I think that might be a ways off.  But hey, not bad to have to choose between two brooding handsome men.

MICHAEL:

When they were going to be bringing in another man for Kendall, I was kind of worried, like, “how was this going to work?”  But once I knew they brought Jordi in, I thought, “OK, this could work.”

© JPI Studios

ALICIA:

He brings a whole different element.  It’s somebody new and somebody fresh and different, and he is reserved.  Griffin keeps a lot of things in, which is one thing Kendall is used to doing, but now she is the emotional erratic one and he is the one who sort of keeps everything in.  I think it will be interesting for her.

MICHAEL:

And we find out that Annie, of all people, is the one who hit the ambulance Kendall was in!

ALICIA:

The audience will know that Annie hit the ambulance, but we as the characters, don’t know.  And when we find out that Annie of all people, hit the ambulance carrying me, its yet another thing.  Annie could have killed her. So again, it’s somebody she has had past issues with.

MICHAEL:

Is it hard to play sick, or “medically challenged”?

ALICIA:

You know, it’s exhausting.  So, I say to myself as I am going to work, “Today is the day I have to be drained, tired, and sickly.”  And it’s exhausting!  It is less lines, though, and when Kendall is sick I get to lie around and be less glamorous.  I can get ready in a half and hour, like when I had to lay in the gurney.  I just moved and cried a bit and had some tubes in my nose and called it a day. (Laughs)  But Jordi had all this medical dialog, and really impressed me talking about the valve and the aorta, and I thought, “Better him than me.”

© JPI Studios

MICHAEL:

Now that you are back in the swing of things and settled in L.A., how does it feel from our initial conversation a few months back, moving from the East Coast?

ALICIA:

We are settled and I really like it, and I like L.A more than I thought. The distance to things is OK and I feel at home here.  I told my husband, “I think I am adaptable.”  As long as my husband and my baby are with me, and I have a job that I love, I could go anywhere.  I really do feel that way.

MICHAEL:

What should we tell the fans of Alicia Minshew for February Sweeps?  Do we need to hold on to our socks while Kendall is in the hospital, again?

ALICIA:

I think what to look out for is; what happens to Kendall and who saves her, and who works on keeping her alive.  She has had trust issues her whole life with people.  One of the things that Griffin says to her is, “Do you trust me?”  And she says, “Yes, I do.”  And that is huge for her.  She really means it, and that is always a big issue for Kendall.

MICHAEL:

So what is the turning point?

© JPI Studios

ALICIA:

In the hospital, Griffin reveals a secret about himself, and the way he got her to trust him was by saying, “OK, you don’t trust me?  Well, I am going to tell you something about myself and I am trusting you and only you with this.”  So he tells her this huge secret that could ruin his life, and she is shocked.  And so Griffin says, “I am trusting you with my life, can you now trust me with yours?”  And she takes a moment and she says, “Yes.” And I think that is huge for her. There is this man she feels a connection to and she does not really know where it’s going, but she trusts him somehow and that is interesting, too.

MICHAEL:

Let’s talk about Christina Bennett Lind as Bianca for a minute.  I know you missed Eden Riegel when you first came back to AMC, but I think Christina is doing a very good job.  I actually think she was wonderful in the scenes with you when Zach died, as a sister trying to console her other sibling.

ALICIA:

You know that Eden and Christina became e-mail buddies, and so the three of us have been trying to get together, me and my “Bianca girls”.  But I think Christina has integrated herself beautifully into the show.  In those big emotional scenes when Zach died, she stepped up and then some. That day, all I had to do was look Christina in the eyes and I sobbed.  I fell into her arms, and it was Bianca to me.  I was in her arms crying and I just connected with her.  I also feel I connect with Christina as a person, so we are lucky.  She is a great actress, and I want her to have more stuff.

MICHAEL:

© JPI Studios

Yes! The fans write to me all the time hoping that Christina and Bianca will have their own storyline soon, and that we will also see more of the relationship between Bianca and Kendall.

ALICIA:

She eventually will have her own storyline and I know she will kick-ass.  I look forward to more stuff, and every time I see her I go, “When are we going to have more meaty stuff together, with you going through something for a change?”  It would be great having me comforting her this time, instead of her comforting me all the time, which I am sure will happen.  She rocked it and was so there for me, and it was great!  I feel like all of my scene partners, including the great Susan Lucci, all helped me get to where I needed to be for sure in those important episodes.

Great Interview. Thanks Michael!

Too bad AM and JV have zero chemistry. Their scenes are so forced. EM and AM on the other hand has loads of chemistry. The writers need to hook up RIcky and Kendall.

Love AM! I miss TK like crazy. JV…anywho, great interview!

GREAT interview, Michael. I love Kendall and Griffin’s potential relationship. I do agree, she has something a little extra with Eddie Matos/Rev Ricky but I’m fine with either.

By the way, Michael, I wish you would have asked Alicia why does she think Josh Madden is never mentioned considering Kendall has Josh’s heart from the transplant. It seems rather odd the writers don’t bring this up. Maybe on the next interview……. 🙂

Sorry Alicia, generally like enjoy her interviews but this one won’t fly. JV a great actor? Really? This pairing reminds me of a school boy with a crush on his teacher. So JV is fresh. So was her pairing with TK getting old to her? Frankly as someone who was a huge AM fan, I quickly changing my mind. Thanks Michael. You’ve saved me an hour a day.

Thanks Michael, I love Lish! She is the reason I am still watching AMC. I am glad you told her how great her performances have been in dealing with Zach’s death. I am not looking forward to a pairing of Kendall and the new doctor as I don’t see the chemistry. I admit I will have trouble seeing Kendall with anyone other than Zach. TK and AM just had chemistry off the charts and I can’t see anything else coming close – I wish AMC could have worked something out with TK. Thanks for the interview!

I agree with Mary I see no chemistry between Griffin and Kendall. I am not a fan of Jordi and I don’t like his character. I think Griffin is a bully and know it all and he reminds me of Ryan Lavery and I can’t stand him either. I think they need to let Kendall be on her own and let her just take care of the boys and adjust to not having Zach around. I still have hope that at some point that TK will come back. As for the Reverend all I see is a really good friend vibe. I would love for her to have a really good male friend that would have her back and be there for her. That is something the show lacks. All they want to do is have everyone hook up, It would be refreshing to see just friendships only between males and females.

Gosh I love Lish! I’m glad AMC has given Kendall time to grieve and start new friendships. I’m enjoying the slow buildup of her and Griffin. I can finally look forward to AMC again, thanks to KENDALL & GRIFFIN! Loved the interview, Michael. Thank you!!!

Great interview! Love AM- she really did knock my socks off in her performance when Zach “died”. Alicia- you’re not the only one who misses Thorsten Kaye & the show will suffer without him. But I gotta say that I’m intrigued by Miss Minshew’s amazing ability to pull me in. I don’t want to see her with JV- nothing against him- but he’s just not TK or Zach & right now, I miss TK too much to watch that, but I do try to catch Kendall working through her intense grief.
I find her grieving Zach is helping my own grief about losing him. I still hold out hope that one day TK will return to us as the great character, Zach Slater.

Love Lish but I have to say I see absolutely no chemistry with Kendall and Griffin. I also would prefer them to show Kendall as being strong and getting her life back on track without all the illness crap which is just to get this guy in her story. Why does AMC have a problem with strong woman? Do they not get that the viewers are WOMAN and we are not weak? I also don’t think AMC was smart in announcing that this guy would be with Kendall instead of testing him with different woman on the show to see who he does have chemistry with. So far I’ve seen more chemistry with Amanda than I do with Kendall, maybe that’s because the guy is young. Kendall was with a mature man, Zach, and this guy seems much younger than her and they don’t fit.

I think Lish is trying to sell this guy and it ain’t working. First of all as others have said there’s no chemistry between the two and he seems to be reading his lines. Secondly, I think she has forgotten that a guy keeping stuff in isn’t new to Kendall because that was Zach. The writers are trying to make this guy into Zach 2 and trust me he can’t pull it off. Thorsten was a great actor and this guy is not even close. He’s young and sholud be with the younger set, Kendll and him just don’t fit.

Never thought I’d see the day where Lish would “sell” something she knows isn’t working – she’s usually much more honest about story. The writers aren’t pushing anything. Are you kidding me? Kendall’s had one health problem after another just so she can be in the hospital with this guy. It’s all plot driven story instead of character driven and she should know that. Guess she’s become a “company” person too.

P.S. Why must everyone tell me how good looking this guy is (first on the show and now Lish)? If you have to tell me he’s good looking than it probably means he can’t act.

Well I bet you will say Thorsten is good looking but he can act too.
I’m giving Jordi a chance he was doomed from fans since day one.. Thorsten made his decision and people need to respect that, I think there should be a interview with him and set everything straight.

Thorsten did give an interview and he left because of the way his character has been written and he felt the character was stagnant and he’s right. I don’t think Griffin was doomed from day one because if he was good people would see it. I might not have liked him with Kendall but I would have appreciated him as an actor.

Carol, I couldn’t agree with you more. AMC apparently doesn’t want a strong, independent woman on screen. They are to busy making up health crisis after health crisis to pull Griffin and Kendall together. Other than that-what do they have in common? Nothing. Yes, Kendall has had trouble trusting people in the past but what does that have to do with Griffin? She should trust him. He’s her doctor and about to perform a surgery on her that could kill her. She better put her trust in him! Why does it have to go any further than that? I just don’t understand. We may have to go on without Thorsten but Alicia doesn’t deserve this. Griffin is not a good match up for her. It’s plot driven to force something that know one else wants to see. Bye bye AMC.

And althought TK said his character was stagnent . . . he only said he was THINKING ABOUT IT. And from the rest of the interview . . . I say he would have stayed had AMC given him half the credit he was owed. Did they owe him the moon?? No, but they owed him the respect and the knowledge of just how popular he is. There is not another actor who could have brought Zach Slater to life the way Thorsten Kaye did.

And yes, TK is GORGEOUS and can act!!

Alicia just said her self Griffin and Kendall are not being forced. A lot of fans are not going to accept Kendall with anyone else. But there was Kendall before Zach. I like Thorsten but we all know relationships do not last on soaps. I like Kendall single, Alicia has been doing some fantastic work on the show,, With Zach it was the same thing, telling her not to get involved in everything.
The fact the Alicia and Thorsten are real great friends, makes me accept Kendall being single.

They are definitely being forced and we were told that they would be together. The problem is when a new character comes on you should test him out with various people and let them connect in this case it’s all plot driven and, also, I feel he’s too young for Kendall. I believe he’s nine years younger than Lish and it shows.

I love Alicia Minshew. Too bad AMC and ABC have thrust on her two absolute duds of potential leading men that she now has to carry and try to sell. Really ABC/AMC to treat your MVP leading lady like you have Alicia all these years and now with D-List players replacing Thorsten Kaye is an insult. I still love Alicia and Kendall, but if AMC/ABC continues to give her and her character the poor treatment they have these past few years and continue to (meanwhile tripping over themselves to elevate and please duds like Ryan and Greenlee), the ratings will continue to plummet. Bring back Thorsten, reunite Zendall and AMC will have a couple worth watching.

Thank you for the interview! Absolutely love Alicia in any interview! While Alicia and I may disagree on JV acting performance I still love her and will continue to just that. Agreeing with everything she says for me is not a needed thing to be a fan of hers. She is doing the best with what she is given. She cannot make AMC want Thorsten back and she cannot make Thorsten come back to AMC. That I will not hold her at fault for. Very happy she is enjoying CA so much. It is absolutely beautiful place to be. I know Alicia will shine even in the up coming scenes where she is just muttering lol. She has turned crud into gold for years. It does my heart good to know her and Throsten are still very close friends. I imagine it makes everything much easier for her.

Will continue to watch the Lovely Lish and hope that that ABC will hire someone with a brain.

Beautiful interview with a beautiful lady! Honestly, I understand that Alicia is just doing her job and god love her for that. She speaks about Thorsten just beautifully, but it hurts too much to read what she has to say about Griffin and Kendall. The only thing Kendall and Griffin have in common is her health issues. Other than that, what do they have in common? What ties them together? I see ZERO chemistry between the two and most seem to agree. I’m sorry but I also don’t find Jordi to be that good of an actor either. He seems to be reading from cue cards most of the time and I always think he is about to cry in every scene. I miss Thorsten terribly and want him back!

Here is the problem I have . . . TIIC know exactly how much AM is adored by her fans so they are asking HER to give interviews pimping this Griffin character and the actor too. It literally breaks my heart.

I won’t give Griffin a chance . . . I just won’t!! Not even for AM.

Thorsten Kaye simply is not replaceable and the fact that TIIC thought this JV person could replace him is laughalbe.

Yeah, I have my bitter panties on!!

Thanks for the interview. I wish I were more excited about this upcoming storyline. I have a problem with all of the heart problems AMC is giving Kendall because it’s very recent and too much and makes the character both physically and emotionally weaker. I want a strong Kendall who can stand on her own! I love her thoughts about Thorsten Kaye, who I miss so much. I understand she has to promote her storyline and her new leading man, but I disagree with her take on him and that’s the nicest thing I can say about it. I’ll tune back in when Kendall starts investigating what happened to Zach, but watching Kendall become emotionally attached to her doctor when she barely knows him, even if it’s only trusting him, rubs me the wrong way. Someone’s in a hurry at AMC and I don’t like it.

I like Kendall and Griffin just fine and are looking forward to their upcoming romance. I love Alicia and am happy to hear that she likes CA and is adaptable. Thanks for the interview, Michael.

I can’t see JV with AM…period. It has nothing to do with my love of Zach, which I admit I have. But I have seen AM work with many actors over the years- Jeff Branson, Colin Egglesfield, Ian Buchanan, etc. She had wonderful chemistry with all of them. No, they were not written as her love interest – but there was a spark there. They sparkled on screen. Jordi and Alicia have no sparkle at all – and no offense, she can act rings around him and that makes it seem even more foolish.

I always wished that they could have gotten Ryan and Kendall back together, and made them a soap supercouple. I loved their chemistry. I was always so disappointed that the writers never put forth the effort or the creativity to let them stay together.

There is only one combination that ever made the Zendell saga and its Alicia and Thorsten! Nothing else works and nothing else will ever even come remotely close to the scenes of Zach and Kendell TOGETHER! Thorsten please come home soon and whip all these new pups az———–es ! You are the only one who can show them all! Then if they are going to rip Amanda and Jake apart which I do not really want to see but if its a Cara/Jake pairing coming then Griffen can have Amanda there is chemistry there that Kendell and Griffin have not, do not, will never have! Its not that he cannot fill Thorstens shoes no one can but he cannot even remotely replace this personna ever! This would be much more acceptable to viewers in future than a soap with no power ,super couple ever! Bring back Thorsten Kaye and the fans would forgive you for almost all else!!!

Sadly for all of you I find AM an actress who has absolutely no acting ability and one who has been riding on the coattails of TK. Did he make a deal with ABC/AMC to keep her on?

What is up with this board is no one allowed to voice their opinions? Not everyone finds AM talented!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mark Consuelos Celebrates One-Year Anniversary as Co-Host of ‘Live’ Alongside Kelly Ripa

Today, April 17th marks a full-year since Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo, All My Children) took over the co-hosting duties of ‘Live” alongside his wife, and longtime co-host, Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, All My Children).

Consuelos replaced Ryan Seacrest who are six seasons decided to be back on the west coast full-time. For Consuelos, now having the opportunity to work off of Ripa as co-hosts has been something of adjustment for him, but viewers have been eating it up.

Live with Kelly and Mark has remained the No. 1 entertainment talk show on television over the past year, growing 3% in average total viewers to 2.23M per episode.  It is also the most-watched daytime talk show in the last year in key demos of women 18-49 and women 25-54. All of this, since the real-life marrieds teamed-up.

Photo: ABC

Speaking with Deadline, Kelly Ripa shared why the two are gelling on-screen, “I do think that there is something very possibly relatable about our relationship. We have disagreements like a normal couple, and we’re not afraid to let them unfold on the air and in front of America, and I think people find a lot of themselves in that.”

Mark weighed in how he has progressed as a host, and what he could improve at, sharing, “I’d like to get better at my interviewing skills. I’d like to get better at reading a teleprompter…I think I’m getting better at throwing to commercial. The other day in the middle of the show as we go to commercial, my sign off was ‘See you guys around.’ I mean, the show wasn’t over. The most obvious thing to say would be, ‘We’ll be back right after this.’ But I just said, ‘See you around.’ So we went to commercial and one of the producers (goes) ‘What was that?’ I don’t know… So for the next few sign offs, as a joke, I’d say ‘See you around.’ We got a kick out of it.”

Photo: ABC

Meanwhile, Kelly has given huge props to Mark, “I find Mark utterly compelling, really interesting, super funny, and he’s bold in a way like nobody else. He says what’s on his mind. If he’s thinking it, he says it.  I’ve done this a long time and oftentimes people will adjust their natural personalities to pander to what they think the audience wants to hear, and Mark will tell people what he thinks, and he doesn’t care if it’s not a popular opinion. It gives him an edginess that I think is really missing in the landscape today. Everybody’s so afraid to say anything, and Mark is unafraid to say exactly what he’s thinking.”

In a statement, Debra O’Connell, President News Group and Networks, Disney Entertainment shared, We could not be more thrilled with how Mark has seamlessly joined the show family as permanent co-host. His undeniable charisma and his and Kelly’s natural chemistry are evident as they deliver the laughs and smiles to our viewers each morning. We are incredibly proud of how Live has continued to evolve and that the audience is responding so enthusiastically.”

So, do you think Mark Consuelos is the best co-host his wife Kelly Ripa has ever had on ‘Live’? How would you say he is doing as co-host after one full year on the job? Comment below.
