General Hospital
FIRST LOOK: General Hospital Promo! It's Sonny Corinthos Vs. Jerry Jacks! Can The Mobster Save Port Charles?
We knew that GH executive producer and head writer, Frank Valentini and Ron Carlivati were planning something big to usher in General Hospital to its new time slot starting on Monday, September 10th.
And today, fans get their first glimpse of what will go down in the high action adventure drama that harkens back to the heyday of GH, starting the week the lone ABC soap moves to its new time destination.
In this newly released ABC promo to Entertainment Tonight, it’s Sonny Corinthos who is going to try and take on and take down evil Jerry Jacks (Sebastian Roche) to save his beloved town of Port Charles. Daytime Emmy winner Maurice Benard as Sonny states in the sneak peek, “When it comes to my city, my family, I will make sure this monster knows — I’m coming for him!”
Now after the jump take a look at the dramatic promo, and as you will see, the location shoot that Valentini was touting on Twitter recently is clearly part of the storyline and the all the action!
So, are you excited to see how this all plays out? Let us know!
this promo is all over the internet & it is just awesome – i can not wait!
Ditto!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow! That promo was great. Can’t wait to see the shot on location episodes. Should be some good TV!
Sounds all good to me !!!!!!!!!
Can’t wait! Looks awesome!
I cant wait !
I am absolutely in love with Frank and Ron. What they have done to improve the most boring of all the soaps is beyond my wildest dreams. I can hardly wait to see what’s coming.
Ditto!!!!!!!!
I’m sorry, but I just can’t take this seriously. This is what Cartooni have planned for a “blockbuster September”? Really? It just seems like even more of the same old, same old garbage/nonsense. Wake me when GH is ready to celebrate its 50th and/or nears its finale.
RC and FV are so overrated and I can’t believe how some GH fans/cheerleaders and soap sites like this keep kissing their fannies to the nth degree. Yes, a segment of people who’ve been watching the show the whole time and/or watched OLTL may think that GH’s quality has improved. But while vocal, those people are in the vast minority, whether they care to admit it or not. That just proves how god-awful it was on GH before. The reality is that RC and FV have done absolutely NOTHING to bring in new fans/viewers and get the show clear out of the basement. It keeps falling in the key W18-49 demo that matters most.
GH’s first 8-12 weeks in its new time slot are going to be critical and most likely will be its absolute final chance to prove it belongs, I’d be willing to bet.
What a downer you are, Chris! You don’t sound like a true supporter of daytime dramas. While you have the right to your opinion, I must ask you not to spoil things for the rest of us. Many of us here have watched and loved all three of the ABC soaps for decades. We are still hurting over the loss of AMC and OLTL and we are holding on tight to GH as the last remaining soap on this network. Of course, nothing is perfect, but Frank V. and Ron C. HAVE breathed new life into this show, and many of us are happy to go along for the ride! You have the choice to not watch, but please keep your negative thoughts to yourself.
We need to be positive about GH…I think the promo was really good..Sonny is doing something good & honest…He really cares what happens to Port Charles… Yes GH quality has improved….RC & FV kept GH on the air longer or it could have been gone to along with AMC &OLTL…Be happy you still have a soap to watch…Time will tell & will have to keep watching and see what happens the wk. of Sept.10…..
Its people like you that are not soap fans.I lost my favorite AMC almos a year ago and I would take it with people off other soaps.I stopped watching GH because of all the mob and freezing Port Charles. Now I’m back to watching it and love it.I didn’t watch OLTL but sure enjoy the peole from there on Gh.GH is fantastic now and has me back ,Frank is doing it justic and making into what a soap should be.I went threw Frons tearing AMC apart with his ideas how it should be done and never gripped or tuned out.I’m a true fan.Now I’m a fan of GH for first time in 20 years. If it would have stayed the same I wouldn’t be watching. Its not the Sonny show like AMC was the Erica show. Its all these stars busting there @sses for us and so is Frank. He trying to draw fans from everywhere.Since Neilsen won’t give ABC the real tota veiwers they have to fight there ratings saying it in last.Iknow many who didn’t watch it are watching now but there not showing that. You may fall in that demo but remember Neilsen box holders only have the say.You don’t I don’t and millions and millions of soap fans don’t.
Chris – Frank and Ron have improved GH greatly. The pace is faster and more characters have storylines. I really get sick and tired of all the whiners who don’t seem happy GH is still around. FYI I have been watching GH since the days of Steve/Audrey/Lucille and Jesse/Phil. That’s a very long time. So stop whining and just enjoy GH or stop watching all together!
Looks awesome. Can’t wait to see it.
Looks awesome. Cant wait.
Sorry, but Mo Mumbles Bernard does nothing for me to be excited about when it comes to GH. Change the show’s name to GM (General Mobsters). Until they actually show the inside of the hospital for more than 30 seconds in an episode, it’s really misleading advertising.
SONNY TO THE RESCUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chris you need a life, this show has gotten better since they gotten rid of Jill, so take negitivity to dumpster?
Love it!!! Just hope they are not trying to take Sonny out with this!
The problem with Cartooni is they can’t come up with an original idea to save their lives. And therefore you can see these storylines coming a mile away. Does anyone really think everyone in PC is going to die? Further, Jason and Sonny once again are the “heroes”. YYYAAAAWWWWNNN. This stuff was boring in 1990; it’s just plain sad now.
I think its great. I love how people say “Ron and Frank haven’t changed anything with GH” when in fact the ratings are ten times better which is why the even get to see a 50th anniversary and GH is way more exciting than any soap that’s on right now. There are 4 soaps left. Let’s support them all! Because the same people who “hate the new GH” are the same people who watch everyday. And further more its not that new, Ron is using the past storylines to drive future storylines which is fantastic. What do people want? First it was “No Sonny everyday” now its “Where’s the old GH?” The old GH wasnt even interesting to the actors playing the roles now they all seem excited to go to work! Let’s try and be supportive and thank you MICHAEL FAIRMAN for all your hard work in daytime!
You may love GH, but the facts simply do not support your claim. The ratings are NOT “ten times better” (even if you said that as an exaggeration to make your point). The fact is that despite weekly fluctuations, 8 months into 2012 the ratings have NEVER risen above the point they were last year, when they were at an all-time low. And for the most part, GH is dead-last in virtually every ratins category. Without the 2-headed monster of Cartooni, even DOOL has risen in the ratings since the Olympics.
And speaking of the Olympics, all of your soap cheerleaders have been strangely quiet since the Olympics proved that people WILL watch TV during the daytime, without DVR-ing it, IF IT IS SOMETHING WORTH WATCHING. Approximately 7 million people per day watch some of the Olympics; that’s almost THREE TIMES the number that watches GH.
You people who refuse to see another point of view should leave the 1970s behind and join the rest of us in the real world: people have moved on from soaps. Replacement programming like Katie Couric and The Revolution is not the answer, but neither is the condescending, warmed-over, 30-year-old storytelling that GH has been feeding us in the guise of “entertainment”.
Me – are you serious? Do you realize that Neilsen is being sued for manipulating ratings for shows in oher countries? For that reason alone the true GH/soap fan, which you are obviously not, should not believe this antiquated ratings system. If you can do better than Frank and Ron by all means submit your storylines to them. Go for it, but don’t be condescending to the real GH fans many who, like myself, have watched GH for almost 50 years. I swear you sound like Brian (I hate soaps) Frons.
Well damn Me if you have left the 70’s why are you even in here posting. What does it matter to you what us 70’s folk do? You should be so busy with your “real” life that you wouldn’t have any time to come in here and take time to post. Go watch your real world shows would ya and stop boring us with your views.
Your facts about ratings are based on Neilsen ratings, right? Well, do you know anyone who actually has Neilsen boxes in their home? And do you know how many of them are in key demographics? This is the problem with ratings……we have no clue who is actually watching ANYTHING, including the Olympics! We only know what people with these boxes are watching…that’s it!
Why is my earlier comment still awaiting moderation?
So you still watch GH and you are unhappy with the storylines. Seems if you didn’t like it you wouldn’t watch. Soaps are obviously still important to you cause you took the time to get on this site, click on this link, read these posts, and then respond. Thank you for your jaded but nonetheless support of daytime. Even bad publicity is at least publicity 🙂
Sorry this was to the above post not this one
WOW! GH hasn’t has a decent action Location shoot (the Carnival in 2010 doesn’t count, it was on the ABC Lot) since Puerto Rico in 1994!
And of course is always the hero
wow i agree what a downer how about being positive ron and frank have been doing a great job gh is more interesting now i can not wait to seeeach episode sonny and jason are my favorites i have two grown daughters and they have been watching since they were about 10 and they still watch i have been watching guess since 1979 the promo looks great can not wait
looks like jerry takes alexis and what is up with those cards and ewen bad guy after all looking foward to sept 10th again frank and ron great job guys
love it all
Yah for Sonny who is real good guy!! I wil be watch that big explosive between Sonny Vs. Jerry Jaxs and save PC just like Robert Scorio Vs. Mr. B in 80’s
Folks, the ratings prove that GH is NOT must see daily TV for many, many viewers. Not to mention that Cartooni are pulling in lower numbers than Guza managed to have in the ratings. They’ve been in change for 6-7 months and have not moved the ratings needle one iota. GH was only given a reprieve because The Revolution tanked so badly, which was not in ABC’s plans. No matter how some fans feel about GH or how “great” they feel the show is now, the numbers don’t lie. Viewers are steadily leaving GH, especially among the key W18-49 demo. They would not be doing that if there were stories on the show that held their interest. JMO
Instead of bowing to the feet of RC and FV and acting as if it’s all peaches and cream with the show, there should be debate as to why they have not pulled the ratings up, and what needs to be done to have a better shot to accomplish that. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with constructive criticism, which is healthy to express. Let’s face it- If GH’s ratings don’t dramatically improve very soon, it will almost certainly be 50th anniversary and out shortly after that.
Again, you are basing this on a ratings system that hasn’t worked since the 80’s! That is what needs to change, not storylines for GH or any other show on tv!
