DAYS CHARITY EVENT AND WEEKEND WRAP-UP
By Michael Fairman
This past weekend, the annual DAYS fan weekend gave rabid Salem fans several chances to see some of the hottest stars from the NBC soap, live and in person. On-Air On-Soaps attended DAYS Charity Event benefit for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Saturday in Los Angeles. Hosted by Nadia Bjorlin (Chloe), the cause is close to the actresses’ heart. Nadia’s father passed away from Leukemia when she was a teenager. DAYS fan will remember that later, Chloe was given that illness in a storyline. When I entered the event held in a poolside garden area of the Sportsman’s Lodge, many of the men from DAYS were holding court, in this cocktail-style event, where the stars mingle with the fans. James Scott (EJ) seemed to have developed a long line of fans who wanted to speak with him. Brandon Beemer (Owen, "B&B") was deep in discussion over the pitfalls of twitter as opposed to facebook, and DANLOE, Shawn Christian (Daniel) and Nadia, were basking in the glow of some DANLOE love from the attendees. Speaking of fans, I met Lisa from South Carolina, a woman who has corresponded with me, to make sure I accomplished an interview with Nadia and Shawn, who she says, "Are the one couple worth watching!"
For those into a little b-ball, the James Reynolds (Abe) 20th annual Days of our Lives Celebrity Basketball Classic was held on Friday night to benefit the South Pasadena High School Boys Basketball Program and the Fremont Centre Theatre. Many were thrilled to see Alison Sweeney (Sami) who brought baby daughter, Megan, and son Ben to the court. The annual classic pits many soap stars against each other, and gives, Brandon Beemer, Kyle Lowder (Rick, "B&B"), Kyle Brandt (Ex-Phillip, DAYS), Bryan Dattilo, and Shawn Christian time to show off their basketball prowess. Many other DAYS cast mates showed up to root on their pals. Jim Reynolds stated, "I am always so happy to be able to host this game. I am thankful for the great support from the fans and cast, which provides a wonderful opportunity to raise money for two worthwhile programs, the South Pasadena Boys basketball program and the Fremont Centre Theatre." All in all a good time was had by all!
