A Day of DAYS 2011

By Michael Fairman

It was time for the fourth annual A Day of DAYS fan fest and press day held once again at the famed Universal Studios City Walk, in Universal City, California. The event which was held this year on November 5, 2011, gave the On-Air On-Soaps crew an opportunity to chat with the current cast of NBC’s Days of our Lives that were in attendance for some fun and revealing video interviews that we think any DAYS or avid soap fan will enjoy!

To view the Video Gallery to the right on this page and watch interviews with the DAYS cast, remember to hit the NEXT GROUP button to the right of the + symbol on the thumbnail gallery and it will shuttle you to the next set of videos. On-Air On-Soaps will be adding the remaining videos throughout the week totaling sixteen in all.

On-Air On-Soaps was once again in our same designated spot at the Samba Restaurant in the mezzanine over looking the entire press gathering, and we had a birds-eye view of the hustle and bustle of the day. As in year’s past, most of the actors were paired off in a rotation. (Some were done solo) So, half the stars took part in meeting the fans in the morning rotation, half rotated through the press corp. Then, they switched off for the afternoon session. This year you can view interviews with: James Scott (in two parts), Chandler Massey and Camila Banus, Melissa Reeves and Peter Reckell, Deidre Hall and Drake Hogestyn, Freddie Smith and Casey Deidrick, Galen Gering, Molly Burnett and Shawn Christian, Patrick Muldoon and Christie Clark, Eric Martsolf and Sarah Brown, Mary Beth Evans and Peggy McKay, Matthew Ashford and Josh Taylor, John Aniston and Suzanne Rogers, Bill and Susan Seaforth Hayes, Terrell Ransom Jr. and Lauren Boles, and Renee Jones and James Reynolds. MIA for the day were: Alison Sweeney, Kristian Alfonso, Joe Mascolo, and Lauren Koslow, thus, we regret to inform you there are no interviews with them presented here.

While we were having fun inside, the fans and the actors were getting an opportunity to get acquainted or re-acquainted at the autograph tables. During a lunch break, many of the DAYS stars took to the main stage for an incredible Salem rock concert in which DAYS executive producer, Ken Corday, led the band and the performers on stage by playing the drums as their “extra-special” musician for the day! The talented Salemite singers included: Wally Kurth, Eric Martsolf, Patrick Muldoon, Kyle Lowder (in a special appearance), Bill Hayes, Molly Burnett, Kate Mansi and more, who brought down the City Walk house! Later, the entire cast in attendance took part in the annual Q&A giving the “must-know” answers to the fans from their questions. After all, there is nothing like a DAYS fan, who are some of the most passionate in soapdom!

As another year at A Day of DAYS came to it’s conclusion, we reflected on the tremendous accomplishments from the DAYS cast, crew, and production, who through turbulent times in front of the camera with major casting changes, and behind-the-scenes with many executive, production, and writing changes have continued to try to keep the show alive and vibrant in a very difficult time in the soap opera genre.

To the right on our A Day of DAYS 2011 page, On-Air On-Soaps has also prepared a very special photo gallery of some memorable images with the cast from the fourth annual event complete with our signature captions.

Make sure to click on the NEXT GROUP icon located to the right of the + symbol on the photo gallery thumbnail groupings. That way you won’t miss an image! Or, you can watch it as a Slideshow!

In the end, it was a time for the actors to say “thank you” to you, the fans, for keeping the faith, tuning-in, and letting you know that they feel the love that you give them, even though we are all separated by our television screens. You, the fans, are as much a part of Salem, as the actors and the characters are that you love to watch every day. So, until next year’s celebration …
