NEW: World Magic Award interviews Y&R and GH stars

Saturday night I attended the taping of the 2009 World Magic Awards at the Barkar Hangar in Santa Monica, California. Several of daytime's most popular stars from The Young and the Restless --- And I am talking about Kristoff St. John, Daniel Goddard, Sharon Case and Adrienne Frantz were either in attendance or presented awards to the top magic acts in the world during the cermonies. General Hospital and Cougar Town's Carolyn Hennesy, also took part and actually presented with Ms. Case in a hilarious intro about two england born twin magicians named,"The Twins." You can only imagine the 'cougar' jokes! Kristoff and Daniel also presented together. And Daniel sans tie pulled one from seemingly out of his suitcoat sleeve in some entertaining form of a sleight of hand trick during the presenter intros for the telecast.

Of note was Eric Braeden, who presented the final award of the evening to the Magician of the Year. Braeden who many are aware is going through a serious contract dispute with SONY and Y&R powers-that-be chose not to walk the red carpet press line or stay for the after party dinner. I asked his co-stars their opinions on the current Braeden contract talks, the state of actors and their soap contracts, and what they think will be the outcome of the situation of the show's most widely recognized star. I must say, that alone is pretty interesting to read.

Kristoff St. John offered some feedback on the recent item from Victoria Rowell that intimated that perhaps her former on-screen daughter, Christel Khalil was one of the reaons she had thus far not been back on the show. St. John feels Rowell would be an important asset to the show at this time, as well as keeping Braeden in the Genoa City fold.

Daniel Goddard talked about Lily's cancer storyline and also teased the question I posed to him, "Will we ever get to find out what Cane is hiding in Australia?"

Sharon Case and Carolyn Hennesy sat down with me and talked... what else? Baby-switches! A common occurence almost everyday on daytime soaps nowadays, Case and Hennesy's dialog with each other had me laughing out loud.

After I was presto chango'd out from all the many magicians and their sleight of hand tricks, I attended the after party dinner and sat with Matt Borlenghi and his wife, Heather for a bit. Matt did reveal to me that he is expected to start the GH role he was cast in, now , later in the year. Obivously with annoucement of James Franco's guest star turn, it seemed to be one of the reasons that Matt's entrance to the Port Charles canvas was delayed.

At the same table came Adrienne Frantz and her beau, Scott Bailey and their friends, Shanelle Workman-Gray and her hubby, David. It was wonderful to reconnect with Shanelle again as we lost touch since OLTL "Flash" days. Adrienne and I took some time to conduct an interview for this feature and she gave some good insight into Amber's feelings for Deacon and some exciting teasers as what is to come.

OK now enough Hocus Pocus for one blog!

Till next time,
