Kimberly McCullough (Robin, GH) should have received a nomination for Patrick’s confession. She totally rocked that scene.

I agree — ESS was wonderful as was ATWT. I still miss the show.

Well, I do hope that they just personally delivered an award to Eric Sheffer Steven’s house because that’s how much he deserved it. Don’t even bother with nominations for him. Just hand it over.

Days of Our Lives always get the shaft when it comes to these awards. I’ve watched those other shows, they’re not that good.

  5. Iakovos says:

Was so hoping ATWT would get a drama series nod but very happy for Colleen Zenk, Michael Park (Love him!), Julie Pinson, and writing team. That final hour was so well done. Disappointed Stevens was not on the ballot as he created a new and at first difficult-to-like character that was so vital to many storylines and the dramatic arc that closed the series. Likewise for the lack of love for Maura West and moreso for Kathryn Hays. Hays carried a lot of story in the final year and did so with such grace.

My other big disappointment: Why overlook OLTL in favor of B&B? OLTL has told such strong stories and done so with quality at all acting and production levels. And hooray for Brian Kerwin and Bree Williamson but there are a few other actors in Llanview deserving of nods left of the list.

As for other noms… Glad to see the roster includes Tricia Cast and Billy Miller for Y&R, Debbi Morgan and Melissa Claire Egan for AMC, and Chad Duell for GH.

I must say that I do think the nomination process is flawed. My evidence of this is B&B’s wins in recent years, mainly for storylines and moments that yes, were moving and notable, but not reflective of consistent day-to-day quality… which is what the Best Dramatic Series Award should address. I used to enjoy that series but repetitive storylines, abrupt character shifts, lack of consideration for history, and eye-rolling plot developments leave me unfulfilled.

And why are there six nominees ffor the actress categories… and five for the actor classes?

I’ve been watching B&B since my wonderful ATWT went off the air and i agree….B&B has some good stories but they’re not consistent.I love Don Diamont, He’s so good when he’s bad.But overall ATWT even at it’s worst was better than most, and the acting was usually quality.I miss it , especially my beloved Van Hansis who with Eric sheffer Stevens gave us the beautiful story of Luke and Reid!

Sooo thrilled for Laura Wright’s first nomination.

I can’t believe Eric Sheffer Stevens didn’t get the nomination. He really changed the “face” of ATWT ,since he took the role of Dr. Reid Oliver, and did it to perfection. I know for a fact that so many people are going to be disappointed for Eric, esp me. In my books Eric deserves it !!!!

Even though Eric was wonderful to watch as Dr. Reid Oliver and with Van Hansis i couldn’t pick out a really good scene to showcase his talents and believe me i’ve watched his scenes more than once.i think if Van would have submitted himself(which he chose not to do) I think he would have gotten an Emmy nomination. He had so many great scenes to choose from.I think there should have been an Emmy nom. for best couple of all time .To me Van and Eric as Luke and Reid would have won without a doubt.Their chemistry was off the charts and unlike anything i’ve ever seen! Congrats to Michael, Colleen, and Julie.i hope they win so we can stick our tongues out at TPTB that cancelled this wonderful soap!

I’d choose the elevator scene. There were a lot of different acting skills in this scene. As for the chemistry b/w these actors it was a real phenomenon. Something you see once in a very long time.

Michelle Stafford deserves an emmy she is the best in daytime by far.

Days of Our Lives got the shaft? Ha, they were lucky to get that one nomination for James and his overacting. No, the real injustice is that Days got an outstanding writing nomination? For what??????? OMG! The idea of Dena Higley being awarded for the trainwreck that is Day of Our Lives. Wow, every year there is always one jaw dropper and that one definitely is it.

Hat’s off to AMC…..Debbie Morgan/Alicia Minshew,Melissa Claire Egan, well deserved nods, Melissa was overlooked last year…..Colleen Zenk, should win….for being ovelooked in the past….as far as the men are concerned…Eric Braden was the only actor to me that did an outstanding job of acting last year……..and he was not even nominated…General Hospital does not deserve anymore awards..the storyline is old, boring, a just twist on the old mob story…that is what is going to kill them off by ABC Television… Young and Restless will take it this year…..

A hearty congratulations to Tricia Cast and Doug Davidson who prove that – even after all of these years – they still got it!! :) I’ve always thought Cast was an underappreciated talent. Very happy for all of the nominees, but still dismayed at the lack of love for the amazing Stacey Haiduk on Y&R last year. She was omni-present on the GC canvas for so long and shined in every one of her scenes. WTF?! Also, the snub of Melody Thomas Scott has me convinced that the PTB at the Daytime Emmy’s are smoking crack.

Glad to see that both Nancy Lee Grahn and Johnathan Jackson got nominated from GH cause out of that entire cast they are by far the best actors

I was sad to see that there will be no Sammi Brady award speech, but I am sure Michelle Stafford will give a brilliant acceptance speech

Lexi Ainsworth should win but the fact that MOLLY BURNETT was not nominated should be a crime that young woman had a fab year and deserves all the credit.

I was afraid that Eric Sheffer Stevens would not be recognized for his wonderful performances on ATWT because of his short tenure. I really hate it. I think some of these actors just chew on the scenery. There is no nuance. I’ve also heard that politics is involved, but who can really say. It is what it is. Maybe his primetime show will be a hit and he’ll be nominated for a primetime Emmy.

    Reply

    mmc replied

I don’t think it was because of his short tenure.I think he had no really strong scenes by themselves..If more of his story could have been submitted he would have had a chance because Reid evolved from a snarky self absorbed Doctor who became a tender , caring person because of his love for Luke and his love from Luke! Truthfully the Luke / Reid story deserved an Emmy because it was wonderful to see Eric and Van and the chemistry they had!

I do think that tenure in the soap genre had something to do with it. I also read or heard from several sites that the voting is political. I read that GH and The Young and the Restless voted in a bloc, hence the large numbers for those shows. That doesn’t mean I think those actors are bad. It just means that they had a better chance to be nominated in the first place. The bottom line is that the awards lack credibility and they need to do things differently if they continue. They need to find a process that garners more respect.

First off OLTL summited the musical episode, so they got what they had coming. My early guess base on the stuff I saw

    Lead Actor
Favorite: James Scott (strongest reel from start to finish)
Spoiler: Bernard (great screens with Lexi at the end but in over the top sonny mode to start the reel) Ricky Paul (Just plays the nicest game in daytime)

    Lead Actress:
Favorite: Susan Flanney (I think those reels are going to sweep anything they up for)
Spoiler: Morgan (strong in the reels but should of summited the standalone)

    Supporting Actor:
    Farvorite: Jackson
Spoiler: None, thorugh it not for trying as I think this is the one group that each choose their best work.

    Best Series
    Farvorite: B&B
    Spoiler: none

    Best Writing:
    Favorite: B&B
Spoiler: GH (It would be spoiler for lead if their summited the shooting too).

Congratulations, also, to Emily O’Brien who caps an inredible six year run as Jana Hawkes-FIsher with an Emmy Nomination! This must be a very bittersweet moment for her, to be sure! I will miss her contributions to Y&R, but know she’ll be successful in her next endeavor. Wishing her all the best!

Congratulations to all the nominees – particularly James Scott, who really had his work cut out for him making silk out of a sow’s ear on Days. Can’t believe the abysmal writing on that show actually got a nomination. GO JAMES, GO!

  23. selma says:

There is no possible way that the people nominated in Eric’s category are more deserving. It seems they’ve chosen to select a certain group of people by favor rather than talent since noone is more talented than Eric Sheffer Stevens and no two people more engaging and giving of their profession than Mr. Stevens and Van Hansis.

i don’t think anyone was more deserving to be singled out more than Van and Eric…in Vans case he chose not to submit himself, but in Erics case I don’t think his reels really showed what he could do in the time they allowed. In my mind there are no actors more talented and more endearing on and off the screen than the wonderful van and eric!

Basically the same people every year… What exactly did Michelle Stafford do this past year to get a nom??? Her character hasn’t done anything but chase Sharon around. Same goes to Christian Leblanc (who I love btw) , Michael did nothing.

    Reply

  25. Moviegal says:

I don’t think you guys get how the nomination process works – each show/performer submits an Emmy reel, and all of the judging is done based on the reels submitted. It relies on nothing more than the one reel. The sensational Michelle Stafford submitted the reel where she finally told Nick to get lost (at that time, anyway) after months of running back and forth between Phyllis & Sharon. It’s really a powerful, powerful scene with tremendous skill and poignancy – definitely Emmy material. I think that Christian LeBlanc must have entered one of the episodes from the Lauren/doppleganger s/l.

Well I definitely understand the Emmy nom process, and think it stinks! Michelle Stafford has one good episode all year long and that earns a nomination but Maura West on ATWT had a solid YEAR and gets robbed. And the process is a little different than just submitting reels. I read other soap actors vote for their peers on other shows just to get pre-nomed. So you don’t have to be the best or most deserving – all you have to be is popular among your friends. It’s very disappointing that talent like Maura West, Sharon Case, Eileen Davidson and Melody Thomas Scott gets overlooked for others who are nomed every year and have one good scene to submit.

Very disappointed that Eric, Trent, and Maura didn’t get nominated, but the worst part of the nominations is the writers at ATWT did get a nomination. The only thing that saved their lousy writing (especially in the show’s last few months) was the incredible cast. I really hope B&B takes the writing award, well, really, any of the others in that category, just NOT As the World Turns!
Hoping Michael and Colleen take trophies home.

As a long time watcher of ATWT i don’t want the writers to win at all. They had a storyline for Luke and Reid and they destroyed two of the best loved characters ever….Reid by killing him off and Luke by leaving him alone and grieving after he finally found a grown up love with Reid. Not to mention that they left long time viewers like me and all viewers who loved the LuRe story totally devastated. So i don’t think they deserve an emmy, but they certainly deserve the worlds biggest Booby prize!
