It had been a whirlwind, exciting, and memorable week for Jessica Collins! The former star of The Young and the Restless took home an Emmy on Sunday for her work as Avery Baily Clark in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

Following her win, Jessica headed to the Winners Walk area where On-Air On-Soaps had a few moments to chat with her to get her initial reaction to her victory. Jessica shared that she was overcome by seeing Steve Burton (Dylan, Y&R), who was also a nominee, and who she worked so closely with her during her time on the number one CBS Daytime drama soap.

On Wednesday, Collins revealed the news that following her Emmy victory she is now a married lady tying the knot with Michael Cooney.  The two share a child together, daughter Jemma who was born  in January. Collins posted the big news on Instagram: “Just when I thought the week couldn’t get any better.” “#Mr&Mrs #Hitched.”

What an amazing week for Collins! Watch our video interview with the talented actress and newlywed after the jump! Then share your thoughts on her win, and send congratulations her way on two big moments in her life!

Here, here! Miss Collins (Mrs. Cooney!) was a joy in the role of Avery on Y&R. I enjoyed a character who had an aura of goodness about her, much needed counterpoint (at her introduction) to her sister Phyllis, and the other Genoa City plotters and schemers. Avery is the kind of character every daytime drama needs to keep balance in tone and story. If things were different, I would think Avery could have eventually been a strong leader on the Y&R canvas as Viki Lord became on OLTL. Miss Collins was also very relatable as a character. I cannot say that about many on Y&R now.

Well said! I get this feeling now that Nick is available and once Dylan learns the truth about Sharon & Christian there will be an opening for Avery to return. Emmy should help!

Having never seen OLTL my comments rest with Young and the Restless. I agree with you. Avery’s departure was demeaning considering her stature which was carried throughout her role as Avery. You are correct regarding the balance issue which has been sorely missing in the past couple of years. The best to Miss Collins; wish she could return to Y & R!

Sad how the men of Days were neglected Reckell and Nichols!

The bromance was incredible and better than most clips

Good for Jessica! She’s such a classy lady and she deserved to win after the way Y&R treated her.
Now we just need to have Kelly Sullivan win an Emmy!!

Great interview! I was so happy that Jessica Collins and True O’Brien won, not only because they truly deserved it but it’s a big F U to the ones who fired them.

It sucks that it couldn’t have been aired on TV or online.
