I have been a fan of Maura West since she first appeared on ATWT. She deserves every award she has. On that note, being a die hard Y&R watcher, Eileen Davidson really brought her A game with her portrayal of Ashley. Between her finding out about John not being her father, her fight with Jack, her mother referring to her as the hred help, and her and Victoria fighting for Victor’s chair at Newman, she really out did herself. Even though I have stopped watching GH about 3 years ago, I am at a crossroad between ED&MW. Its a shame Amelie Heihle couldn’t toss her hat in the ring as well. She is playing the hilt out of Victoria as well. I say they should have the shoe televised, and let the fans vote via phone and Internet like American Idol

From tapes Nancy may have a shot. Marci is good also but she is shining with her current story of DID. All so similar in this category. Nothing standing out as a sure thing for me.

As much as I can hardly tolerate the ”character” Carly,
and I seriously believe that Carly needs to be shot with a tranquillizer gun, Laura is doing a phenomenal job of irking me–
therefore she ‘got’ to me .. that is great acting !!

So; Laura Wright (Carly, GH) gets my nod .

Glad you get it, su0000. Often, when you read comments on acting nominations it seems like people are rooting for characters they like — not looking at whether the actors are making them feel the emotions they are supposed to. I’m with you on Laura Wright. Carly is so irritating, but Laura does a great job of taking her annoying qualities and running with them!

I believe many of us made that same argument last year for Laura to win….if only there were an award for best actress in the role of a character that is extremely unlikable, she would most likely be a shoo-in! However, this time around, I hope none of the GH-ers take home Emmy…it’s really Y&R’s Davidson’s for the taking….she’s earned it!

    nancy dillingham replied

    Wow! Is that a good back-handed compliment, su0000? :)

Eileen Davidson brings it day in and day out!!! Sometimes the best acting is not done in the big screaming, crying moments but the wordless facial expressions and the storyline line with her character’s mother is heartbreaking, even when she doesn’t say anything!!

Give Maura West her 4th Emmy. I thought she was far and away the best in this category. She’s one of the rock solid foundations of GH, and brings it day in and day out. This reel is no exception. Fantastic work.

I love Laura Wright and Nancy Lee Grahn as well, but I don’t feel this was either of their best work. Eileen Davidson is very good, I’ve always been impressed with what I’ve seen from her since her time at Days. Marci Miller, sorry didn’t do anything for me.

This is definitely hard I am stuck between Nancy Lee Grahn and Maura West. The others were VERY GOOD. Eileen Davidson is always stunning and Marci Miller came on strong. I was into Laura Wright until I saw all the scenes regarding her wanna be lover to that man who shall remain nameless. I am very against any story line that involves him. So that threw her out immediately. Don’t get it twisted, Laura Wright is excellent as Carly but her obsession with that person is just horrible to watch. Her obsession with him reminds me of certain people who blindly follow the Cheeto in the White House. It’s disgusting and hard to swallow. Now back to Nancy and Maura. Nancy gave it in her AA scenes. She tore up the scenery. One woman and her words and emotions and the reality of her character’s weaknesses. She was stunning. It literally brought a tear to my eye. Her blind love for Julian which ripped her life to shreds in a slow burn. Bravo. And then Maura West. How can I say how much she is a legend in her own time. Her acting chops are on par with the late great Beverlee McKinsey. There is a force within Ms. West that makes her so great with anything. Any story she shines in. Ava is what the simple might call a “villain” but when I see Ava, I see this complex woman who has done so many wrong things but when you peel the layers away she is just a frightened woman trying to be strong in the only way she knows how by acting out. The scenes with her in the hospital bed ripped me apart. Then when she confronted Griffin about his hiding behind God to avoid love. That was realness right there. Of course the scenes where she dealt with her complicity in Morgan’s death were breath taking. She is just amazing at anything. It’s hard to decide between Nancy Lee Grahn and Maura West. I’m glad I’m not part of the voting group. I don’t know if I could decide. Kudos Maura, you continually amaze me. Flowers for all the nominees because they all did their thing in a fantastic way. Now the hard part is deciding who gets to go home with the golden lady. I feel like a judge on The Voice. My vote goes to…………..Maura West.

I was distracted with her – reel -

Marla Adams, Beth Maitland, even Jack took over time for the good quality act to shine

I am surprised taken and charmed with Traci

After watching ALL the reels, I have to say this is one race I’m glad I am not judging! I am not sure who I would pick after watching though I still maintain Maura was simply amazing! For me it is a toss up between Maura West, who despite what you say Satan is in fact a leading actress especially in this storyline, Marco Miller who has been given great material from Ron sorry but the previous writers did nothing for DAYS, and Nancy Le Grahn! I suddenly find myself wanting to see Alexis and Julian reunited! Sadly GH has turned into The Jason Morgan Hour so the likelihood of a reunion being as strong as it should is slim to none!

Maura West is my hands-down choice. She always finds new shades to Ava and makes a reprehensible character watchable and fascinating. I don’t understand the Marci Miller nomination but c’est la vie. Laura is a great actress but Carly was SOOOO annoying this year, and I’m furious at Alexis for getting between Anna and Finn, although she’s been very decent about it. As good as these actresses are, I give Maura the edge for trying new nuances (versus Carly’s clomping shoes and Alexis’ permanently dewy eyes when Julian is near). Eileen would be my 2nd choice.

Alexis didn’t get between Anna and Finn, Soaphound. The two formed a friendship and Alexis encouraged Finn to try with Alexis several times, even AFTER they slept together. She’s also the one who spoke to Finn “the day after” and said they should put it behind them and just be friends. Though she told Julian she and Finn were dating she only did it to (I think, make Julian jealous) but also, as she said, to point him elsewhere. We know she still loves him but she’s trying to not go back. As for Anna and Finn? Anna’s been ridiculous. Just tell the man you want him back! Alexis isn’t emotionally involved with Finn; they’re both just trying to move on.

Oh! Hi Soaphound! ;) (oh, these soaps…)

oops, meant Alexis encourage Finn to try with Anna several times

    Soaphound replied

You’re right, rebecca1. I guess I get frustrated with Anna for exactly the reasons you mentioned. Why is she so resistant to a real relationship? If not Finn, then someone new…before that reveal about Griffin, I was hoping Anna would be the “older” woman he romanced! Since Griffin’s been with Ava, all he does is look worried and afraid of everything.

Eileen Davidson for the win. She had some good material and continually shows that subtlety is always more effective than chewing the scenery.

If she doesnt win, Marci Miller would be my second choice.

I don’t doubt that Eileen had some great material. Remember the judges can only vote based on these scenes that the actors submitted! Of all the reels I would say that Eileen’s is weakest followed by Laura Wright’s! I love them both and they both deserve the nominations and both are Emmy worthy, but I question their scene choices here! Laura especially had some much more powerful scenes!

Wow, it should be a three way tie among Laura, Eileen and Marci.
Maura’s material was weak and she chewed the scenery.
Nancy is too mannered and nothing new there. Solid but not elevated.
Laura’s material, the drama and her range in each scene was amazing.
Marci, for being a newbie, has it all her material out of the park. Even Hagley’s stuff.
Eileen is so classy and the material was super solid but she weirdly annunciated a few words.
So it’s between Laura and Marci and I think the voters will give it to Laura. But Marci is the new Erica Slesak; she’ll be nominated each year she has a major story. Days is lucky to have her.

Ava is not a lead on GH. Never will be.

Marci Miller is probably the best “new” actress on a soap, but I can’t say I’m a fan of ReRon’s 666th DID storyline.

LIke Eileen Davidson when she’s in Salem. Don’t watch her on the other show.

Laura Wright & Nancy Lee Grahan both did very well. Tough call between those two.

The candidates , or the contenders, let’s face it, with only 4 soaps left, the legacy actors, actress are left, my candidate is once again left out, MTS of the Young and Restless. Every year she is absent……she has given stellar acting performances for years…..yet she is again out of the mix. I disdain General Hospital, and I have no love for NLG, and MW is too,too dramatic, since leaving ATWT, and her stint on Y&R, was too over the top.Having said that ED of the Young and Restless is mesmerizing as Ashley can’t wait to see take down her brother Jack Abbott …….give her the Emmy for sure.
