124 April 29th, 2013 UPDATED: All My Children and One Life to Live Premiere: TOP 5 On Hulu & iTunes!

The numbers are coming in over the last several hours and they are updated through the day so keep checking back, but fans are putting the premiere episodes of All My Children and One Life to Live over the top!

At Hulu, the soaps are amongst the most watched episodes being viewed so far today.  In this update this evening: AMC is currently # 1 and OLTL is #3!  In addition over at iTunes, in the all important “Top TV Seasons”, which tracks the popularity of a show with viewers who’ve purchased a season pass, AMC is #1 and OLTL is #2.

It’s important that the fans continue to show their support of these platforms and all-new episodes throughout each and every week to drive home the popularity of the genre and to support the vehicles where now Pine Valley and Llanview can call home!  What do you think fans? Looks like we accomplished our goal of kicking Mad Men out of the top spot on iTunes!

What do you think of today’s performance by the two soaps online ?  Let us know!

I watched both but I preferred AMC. OLTL is really geared for a younger audience. I will continue to watch both for awhile to see if OLTL gets better. I am so glad to hear that both soaps are doing well. Yea!!! Now that the shows are doing so well, hopefully more of the original actors will come back.

    Bam Carle replied

I disagree. OLTL is geared for a…brighter audience? I can’t see a storyline involving a political scandal (Dorian) on AMC: it wouldn’t really work.

    Reply

    Kathy replied

    Political scandals require intelligence?

    Elisabeth replied

So, people who watch AMC are dumb, while people who watch OLTL are bright and intelligent. Thanks for clarifying that for this moron, who would have thought any competition between the shows would have been buried when BOTH got a chance at revival.

    Lisa M replied

Fans we should all give ourselves a hand for supporting our revived soaps on hulu as well as OWN. To be honest, I enjoy both soaps equally because they are more realistic now than before. I don’t think that OLTL is geared toward a younger audience, I think that fans are expecting the soaps to be as before. Yes I miss the old cast but I enjoy how PP has revived the soaps to stay current with society now. I have a feeling we will see more of the old cast in the future when they see how well the soaps are doing. To sum it all up, I love AMC& OLTL and thank you PP,

    Llanviewer717 replied

I don’t know that I agree with OLTL being geared to a young audience. I’m already hooked into Viki and Clint’s impending marriage and the next chapter in the Viki and Dorian feud. How will Bo and Nora cope with their adult son? What mess in Todd into now? What is the meaning of that circular symbol and tattoo? Poor Tea looks for lost. And best of all, what about the man in the hoodie? What does seeing him mean for our folks? Stay tuned.

    Reply

    debbielg1203 replied

the man in the hoodie is victor, todds twin. I loved oltl, but thought amc was just ok, think it is more tuned to the younger crowd.
would be better if they would tell us what happened 5 years ago!

    CTwildheart replied

I think Llanviewer was trying to be kind and not spoil the surprise of who the hooded man was for those who may not have seen the episode yet.

As for AMC…they will tell us what happened in time. We are here for the story….

If they don’t hit those #s consistantly, these shows aren’t going to last. Pretty much all the actors have signed a 1 year contract. PP has 1 year to make this work.

ABC dose not look foolish, they are taking care of business like all the mega power media Co’s.
ABC decided to fight not settle with PP, that is all, nothing more..
ABC has more millions of viewers than one could count, a handful of soap fans is nothing significant in their realm . :)
ABC is doing very well without us… sorry, but it is the facts ..
I’d love to see PP take them but it will never happen, sorry again..
Most all ABC prime time shows, and that is huge number of shows, get 6-9 million viewers and soap fans of soaps were 2+ million..
But!! PP is doing very well!!! so, can’t count them out.. :)

I also think that AMC was the better of the two today, more classic and true to itself. Loved right away seeing the love and playfulness of angie and jesse. Dr,. Evil ready for more, and the next chapter for Miranda and AJ and Petey. Thought I do not like the AJ and Pete character. Opal does not quite seem like the Opal I remember.

OLTL is geared for the younger set, sexing it up with Natalie, Dani, Destiny. Also was too loud hope this night club is not on alot or if it is maybe when it is closed. I did like the end thought tht was a nice surprise.

Absolutely LOVED! LOVED! LOVED both shows!!! Thank you PP for bringing them back to us! The ending on OLTL was awesome. I REALLY hope we get to see TSJ for more than just a short time. I realize some people are thinking that they’re geared more for the younger viewers, but I must say as a viewer of AMC from the beginning I remember how it all began with the young people at that time; namely Ericka, Phil, Tara and Chuck. That was what started drawing in viewers. Then, of course, all the other characters who were the adults became just as interesting to watch as well. I thought both shows did a very good job of featuring the more mature characters and The Fan Favorites. Just give it time. So many characters are new to us for now and they need time to have their storylines develop. Besides, with David Hayward around we know there will be plenty going on with him and also whatever is going on with Jessie and Angie’s daughter. On OLTL, we’ve got Vicki and Dorian, Blair, Tea , Todd and Victor just to name a few, so there is bound to be a lot of storylines involving them. I also think that once schedules open up for a lot of our favorite characters who haven’t returned they will be coming back. We just have to be patient, give them time and keep watching!!! Thank You Michael Fairman for keeping all of us informed and fighting with us to bring these great shows back!!

I loved seeing both my shows back on the air. Well awaited.
I wasn’t surprised by the swearing – kept in time with what I’ve seen of younger adults – given that they’ve aged Destiny, Matthew and Dani to 21. Matthew except for the final eps where he was ‘happy’ to have the baby, leading up to that he wasn’t – he was quite a jerk, so this Matthew is not that out of character.

Dorian & David have always been rather over the top, so I’m rather used to that. :)

Blair & Tea – love the friendship there; wonderful interactions between the two, even though short scenes between the two.

Natalie, for heaven’s sake, if you’re stripping down to curl up on the couch with a blanket, take off the heels.

  58. Chris says:

I was happy but sad. The actors have aged in such a short time it seems. Oltl does look like oltl if that was the goal. AMC tried to remake some characters with aged children but it was missing its linchpin, its sun on a rainy day , the wind beneath their wings the glue that holds the show together – Erica Kane. I am so disappointed the show lost its zip. I am not sure I will watch it without Erica Kane or Tad or Kendall forget Ryan Lavery but AMC is missing too many key characters to keep the flavour. I hope they can get Susan Lucci back; surely she can’t be that busy and probably needs the money too.

They are better than I expected. I have been a life-time fan of All My Children, and later a fan also of One Life to Live. The online shows are a little different, but enough of the old shows to keep that family feeling. I love them so far!! I can’t wait to find out who JR shot, and who is in that hospital bed – please let it be TAD!!!!!

Maybe we can get it even higher and educate the people who don’t understand that you can watch it on regular Hulu for free since it is Ad supported.

I’m so happy my favorite shows are back on. I’ve watched every episode of both so far and am very pleased with both the quality of the product, as well as the storylines. Keep em coming!
