Along with @LindaDano, he was my very first acting teacher. The actress I am is because of them.”

Reports are also coming in that Stephen Schnetzer (Ex-Cass) told Linda Dano (Ex-Felicia) of the heartbreaking news yesterday.

Soap fans also know that the London-born Keating appeared on All My Children, As the World Turns, and Port Charles at  different points throughout his illustrious career, and that Keating’s stage career had been extraordinary.

  5. Ghlover says:

So sad ;(((( im crying like he was family ;(( He will be missed. His chemistry with all his AW castmates was priceless

  6. rebecca1 says:

Didn’t watch the show and wasn’t familiar with him. Just watched the clip. What a seemingly charming, classy man! Condolences…

  7. Rodd says:

What a fantastic stage and screen presence! We are so fortunate to have so many clips of his work to watch. When I think of a classy actor, one who always managed to capture my attention and made me marvel at his work, Charles always comes to mind. We’ve lost a daytime great; the world has lost an amazing man. My sympathies go out to his family, co-stars and legions of fans. Rest in peace, Charles.

  8. Iakovos says:

Mr. Keating was great on ANOTHER WORLD, elevating the experience by just his being there. He was a genuine actor, a top talent. Even though it has been 15 years since we left Bay City, the memories of Mr. Keating and Carl Hutchins remain and are celebrated

  9. Tom says:

Always a pleasure to watch him. And he ended up a good guy, winning the beautiful Rachel.

  10. mike says:

The only person who could fill the shoes of Douglass Watson as the male lead of Another World. A great loss.

    Dee replied

I totally agree with you!!! Carl Hutchins is the only character that could fill Mac Cory’s shoes.

  11. 4ever DAYS says:

Wow! I saw a familiar face in Charles’ submitted scene…Lawrence Lau. I knew of him by my sister always talking about Greg and Jenny on All My Children. I googled Greg and Jenny and found the actor’s name and then googled him…sure enough, he played Dr. Jamie Frame on Another World from 1986-1990. I was not familiar with the work of Charles, but may he R.I.P.

DAYS is the only soap I’ve ever watched regularly, but I’ll never forget the misery my sister went through when Jenny died from the jet-ski explosion…she said that was the meanest thing AMC ever did!!!

  12. Mark says:

He was so wonderful on Another World and Brideshead Revisited, I am very sad!!! Another World was so classy I miss it so much.

  13. Lou Piikes says:

Carl Hutchins reminded me of a Greek Adonis. May you rest in peace Mr. Keating.

  14. Vanessa says:

Totally Keating was a class act… loved him.

  15. Tom Freeman says:

He was an extraordinary actor and a true gentleman. He and Victoria Wyndham created a whole new level of chemistry.

  16. harry says:

Oh no. “Thou he with winter he meets, his substance still lives on sweet.”

  17. jaybird369 says:

Brilliant, brilliant actor!!!!! He will be truly missed. Mr. Charles Keating…Rest In Peace, Sir.

    Claudio replied

Yes I agree with you jaybird, Charles was a wonderful actor, and I loved Carl Hutchins on Another World. He will be truly missed, Rest in peace Mr. Keating.

  18. Robert says:

I truly enjoyed his work as Carl, it was like watching a upscal broadway production whenever he was on screen. I never thought I could see Rachel with anyone other then Mac but thanks to Charles’s amazing talents he made me a Rachel & Carl super fan! Times like this shows how actors, who made their mark on daytime dramas do not get the respect they deserve because if we still had a cable network dedicated to past and present daytime dramas we would probaly receive a day of his best work in a marathon session on that network.

  19. Mo says:

So sad. He also did audio books. I have listened to and enjoyed his recordings.

  20. ilona says:

Heartbreaking. No other villain has been better written in daytime. No other redemption has been better written. A villain who becomes a hero because of his for a woman. AW was always the best written soap and Charles Keating filled the huge void left when Doug Watson passed away. No longer Mac’s nemesis, but a character who grew to fill Mac’s shoes. I hope you RIP Mr. Keating.

    Patrick replied

    beautiful recognition

    “Thank You” for sharing

the part that got me… “a villain who becomes a hero because of HIS “love” for a woman.’ didn’t we all just love that Rachel got as much as we did

  21. Jeff says:

One of the best actors period!!

  22. Sandy J says:

I began tuning in to Another World after the passing of Douglas Watson. Charles Keating was a wonderful presence on the show, and I learned to like his character because of his performances. I only wish I’d had the chance to see him on stage; no doubt he would have been mesmerizing.
So sorry to learn of his passing; 72 is still young. Sincere condolences to those he left behind and with whom he worked.

  23. Lew S. says:

He was such a classy guy. He will be missed and RIP.

  24. Gia says:

Ah, Another World (smile). Prolific actor.

A true joy to watch, as I did with Anthony Herrera (ATWT), and Michael Zaslow.

Now these were villians in the true sense of the word.

  25. Patrick says:

Charles Keating : A Magnanimous person’a…. along with Rachel

Another World is so close to my heart… after but not less…. than “As the World Turns”

Rachel and Carl go down in the history books of that couple who persevered

intelligent, force, drive, humble, even keel… Rachel and Carl personified “whole” some.

  26. Michael says:

He was a very good actor. Wow- this news reminds me of how much I lived Another World back in the day. I will never understand network decisions to kill off soaps. Would be great if they brought AW back some day.

  27. Patrick says:

    “Brilliant” is echoed throughout

fan salute to another dark day… lights out tribute

  28. Michael says:

Also noteworthy is how classy the Daytime Emmy Awards once were- and on prime time networks no less

  29. Patrick says:

    “This is a collaboration”

“I’m Privileged to accept this on behalf… of : the production team… co–stars”

    you get the drill

    what a team player…. what an effort… after 4 nominations… he gets

  30. Mary SF says:

Been off line for a bit, just hearing the news, so sad– one of my favs from AW— so grateful that he got that Emmy when the Emmy awards were actually given respect– so wonderful to see a room full of people cheering the soaps, good production values and the like. Great to see that little clip from AW, forgotten how good it once was—- RIP Mr. K– hope heaven is giving you a standing ovation
