Better yet, the GH fans were collectively very upset back in the day when Guza treid to copy The Sopranos. Fans welcomed Ron and Frank because they were going to leave the poor man’s Sopranos behind and get back to the heart of GH.
Now we are back to square one. And as bad as Guza could be, at least he finished the storyboard once the action started accelerating. Ron will leave a plot line right at the story’s peak, and come back to it in a few weeks. The man does not know how to multi task which is why so many say his story telling skills are choppy at best. Sometimes he hits it out of the ball park which makes it all the more appalling when he gets it so wrong.

GH has always brought action to the soap world. Luke and laura vs. cassidines. anna, robert, frisco, shawn constant wsb action. Holly was part of a crime family. Seriously guys thats why GH has stayed 50 years because it offers something for everyone. As long as it doesnt get stuck on one theme it will continue to please a broad audience and we’ll get to keep our soap.

But we already saw this again and again with Guza–only Guza did it better and trust me, I am no fan of the man’s.
Who thought this idiotic idea was a good one? It’s like they are trying to ruin GH and doing a damn good job of it.

Well there goes the “at-least-Ron is better than Bob Guza” defense. Between this and the firing of MM as Adam, I guess my soap watching days are coming to a close.

I think that was an absolutely action-packed, behind-the-scenes powerhouse of a clip!

With that said I’ve been wondering lately if I really appreciate “getting to know” the actors via Twitter, Facebook and interviews. I’m beginning to wonder if I really want to go behind-the-scenes…or if I’d rather just get so immersed ini the stories….the fictional world…that I don’t know what the actors are really like or how they shot a scene.

Yes, we have the ability to suspend our disbelief…but I also wonder if maybe it was better “back in the day” .. when actors had more of an air of mystery…

Well it’s the best of both worlds isn’t it.For the people who love the behind the scenes info and actor interviews,it’s great. For the people who like to stick to just the story, just don’t click on the links.
    Everyone makes out.

A mob war shoot out on GH? What a novel idea!!! And so appropriately timed…right before Christmas. I think Jill Farren Phelps has been wearing a Frank Valentini mask and Bob Guza has been wearing a Ron Carlivati mask. How else to explain the mob rise?

I don’t know…I have never ever heard even one single fan of any soap clamor for MORE senseless violence…MORE shoot outs…MORE mob wars, MORE blood stains…more death. I just don’t get it. Back in the day we would have had Dr. Steve Hardy rounding up the kids for the Christmas story at this time. This is what we get instead. We had a decade plus of this crap already. Its not excitong…its now new…its not different…it is same old same old where this show is concerned.

Mob stories have been on tv soaps since the 1950s and especially on Edge Of Night(where it was better suited and entertaining) but its a little too much on GH…id be ok with t it wasnt so front and center and Shawn acting so desperate to kill Carlos…i have a feeling T.J. is going to get caught in the middle and shot…with all the violence in the news lately these tv shows need to cut back on violent storylines especially GH…Heathers stabbing i found a bit disturbing…where is the romance? ive watched soaps since the 1960s…there were more romantic moments and less violence…soaps can have some violence in their stories because some plots call for it but they dont have to be so graphic like GHs stabbing of Heather! Sonny and the Jeromes couldve simply been scheming business rivals instead of blood thirsty mob rivals…and like you i do miss Steve reading Christmas stories to the kids…we need more warm moments like that…i agree with you, Johnny!

I didn’t watch GH back in the days when it was mob wars all the time, but as a “newer” viewer (since ABC killed OLTL) I think the show has a good balance. Sonny is supposed to be this big-time crime lord. You just can’t neuter the guy and expect him to remain away from some mob action. GH isn’t bullets and guns every day of the week. We also get a lot of hospital action, love and intrigue. Are people maybe a little trigger happy with their own fears that GH will revert back to the guns without the roses days? I think they have to give Sonny his mob action stories in order to show the big threat that the Jerome family is to him and the rest of Port Charles. These characters are extremely interesting and the actors are brilliant. I totally support GH remaining focused on the hospital and romance vs. mob wars, but there has to be a balance or a transition to calmer times. From what I’ve read and seen, it seems like it was guns all the time to none and now the guns are back. Hopefully, this storyline will help transition Sonny into another story area where he can still be a force to be reckoned with without emasculating him. And I’m going to stop now, my thoughts are becoming too rambled. Via GH!

I wish all these resources were devoted to better writing, relationship development, character development. Most soap devotees are attracted to relationships and drama and some great seasonal vibes, not mob shoot-outs at Christmas. Who cares whether they are shot in some warehouse somewhere. Nix the boxing set while you are at it.

If you’re going to resurrect location shooting, why not take a happy couple, say Sam and Dr Clay, and send them to an exotic locale? Cliched? Of course, but better than mob wars.

agree. I think either her face fell back into place (somewhat) or her makeup should get an award of its own.

I vote on the side of makeup….someone took “Patrick’s” expert advice on the time-honored art of contouring!!!! Although there is only so much maquillage can do….what I simply do not understand about these women who ply their faces with such copious amounts of filler is that they could accomplish the same “pufferfishface” effect with a simple combination of carbs and sodium….the results look the same. Not flattering…at all.

    Shay replied

Only if you define “good” as having cheeks twice their normal size….mercy! Sorry jimh, but sadly, JZ looked wince-inducing…truly not being mean, but she is very hard to watch, and cannot even speak properly due to all the face and lip injections she has had! The distraction totally ruined the mood that she and brother Luke were trying to evoke….someone needs to stage a plastic surgery intervention on her!

Shay I have to say I get such a kick out of your posts your sarcasm knows no bounds and I truly mean that as a compliment.

    jimh(leave it to beaver) replied

I still see some improvement…not 100%…but she looks a lot better than in previous episodes…change of subject: it was exciting to see our favorite mutter back! But it doesnt look like im getting my Santa Faison…lol

    Shay replied

@k/kay….Thank you and I sincerely mean that, although sometimes I think that people take my honest musings for intentional sarcasm, and they truly are not intended that way! If they amuse, then I’m flattered and glad, but I generally do not aim to offend! On the other hand, there are occasions when the sarcastic quips are purely on purpose….mainly on one certain topic, and I know you know what I’m talking about, k/kay!!!! That being said, you come up with some pretty priceless observations yourselfl!!!!! Always enjoy your posts….. ; )

    Shay replied

Oh yes, jimh, it was “wundervoll” to see our mad, malicious mutta, the delightfully deviant Dr. O again!….that loony lady may be down but she is certainly not out….just as conniving as ever! Rooting for her to triumph once again, and hoping that “Schatzi” can spring her for Christmas!!!! As for “Santa Faison,” I’m afraid that your holiday soap wishlist is going to be incomplete where he is concerned, as it seems he just may be colder than the “North Pole!” (Though I am not completely convinced he is really gone for good….) But as long as Liesl Obrecht remains in the Port Charles picture, then I will have a blissful yule and Happy New Year….wishing you the same!!!!

    jimh(leave it to beaver) replied

    Happy holidays to you too…

    Shay replied

P.S. The reason it is so disconcerting to watch JZ is that her cheeks look so over-inflated and heavy that I fear if she leans her head too far to the left or right she will tip over from the sheer imbalance….either that, or her neck will snap! And again, I am being completely serious….even if this remark does come off as flip and facetious! Whoever committed that grossly incompetent crime against her face should be sued for malpractice….I just pray for her sake the damage isn’t permanent!

I’m sorry but I am really disappointed in this storyline and I really don’t care how realistic they tried to make it. It’s Christmas time and we get mob wars and violence. I wanted to see a baby reunited with his parents on Christmas Day and the reading of the Christmas story by a Q ( maybe AJ) at General Hospital.

I get that some fans like the mob storylines and the violence but this is not the season for it.

    Bah humbug!
