Mark your calendars. Betty White (Ex- Ann, The Bold and the Beautiful) will host Saturday Night Live on May 8 — and she’s bringing some other funny ladies with her. Joining Soap Opera’s favorite Golden Girl for the special Mother’s Day episode are six former SNL players: Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon, Maya Rudolph, Ana Gasteyer and Rachel Dratch.
White will be the show’s oldest host ever at 88 years young, and the appearance will also mark her first time as host — a debut that was a long time coming. SNL EP, Lorne Michaels tells USA Today that he has “always wanted” the beloved comedienne to host, but White turned him down three times. “It’s so New York, and I’m not New York at all,” she says. “But my agent said he’d divorce me if I didn’t do it, and I love my agent.” The Facebook campaign imploring SNL to book White “took on a groundswell” following her Super Bowl Snickers commercial, Michael says, and “validated that, ‘Oh, that’d be fun.’”
Is there no end to Betty’s talent? And soap fans remember, she is on the ballot for a pre-nomination for a Daytime Emmy, too!
