Breaking news this afternoon via TV Line. Looks like just as All My Children is about to say farewell to network TV this Friday, comes word out of Prospect Park that it has, pending a final agreement with AFTRA, signed its first two stars to continue with the series with its  move to the web. And, they are … Cameron Mathison (Ryan) and Lindsay Hartley (Cara).

Here is the statement from Prospect Park: “Pending a final agreement with AFTRA, Prospect Park has confirmed that … Cameron Mathison (Ryan Lavery) and Lindsay Hartley (Dr. Cara Castillo Martin) have agreed to deals to join the company’s new production of All My Children.

This marks the first confirmation of cast members since Prospect Park began planning for the AMC production to live on the new online network beyond its final televised date on ABC this week.”

Prospect Park says it will announce the start date of AMC‘s new production in the coming weeks!

Congrats to CM and LH! :) Now I need to hear that VI is onboard, so my wonderful David/Cara/Baby Dara saga continues! :)

  2. Torrey says:

I think that they are going to try and groom Lindsay to be the new leading lady of AMC, since it doesn’t seem like Susan Lucci will be joining the cast. I just have a feeling that’s what’s happening. She is a talented actress, but those are hard shoes to follow….and notice I did not say fill, cause no one can do that.

  3. Brian Greene says:

    Cameron & Cara–Yay! :)

    I meant to say Cameron & Lindsay–Yay! :)

I’m glad they’ve gotten LH to sign – and will be VERY happy if VI does too.

Not so glad about CM staying on, though. To put it mildly. His character has been overplayed, over-exposed, and over-acted for about the past 10 years. And “Ryan”, along with the other members of the sextet of suckage and the Carey’s are a large part (due to Frons’ insistence that they be the focus) of AMC’s decline.

I wish CM the best, but I deeply wish that meant we’d never have to see or hear Ryan Lavery ever again.

  6. Judy says:

    Great news!

  7. David says:

Hope more actors sign on but the last few years — poor writing and moving from NYC to LA — have been hard on them.

  8. Elaine says:

Happy about CM & LH. Hope they sign the rest. Especialy MK & CM. And of course WW, AM, etc. Maybe SL will change her mind. From what I read in her book, I’m surprised she hasn’t signed. Maybe that will change.

Mixed news. Glad some marquee stars are on board. As much as I like AMC, and VI, I could do without more of the David story. I will appreciate the “resurrection” plot line as a means to end a storied broadcast run for a fave serial, but for a relaunch, I would prefer a new start with Pine Valley citizens off the canvas. That way, we get history to link old and new, and focus on family and relationships. I tend to tune out when stories step far beyond the realm of reality, so my emotions at seeing AMC end are not as strong. I thin Lindsay Hartley could be a longtime leading lady. As for Cameron Mathison, I do like the actor but never warmed to the character Ryan Lavery.

    Torrey replied

I agree with you. At this point, there are a lot of characters that I wouldn’t be sad to see go….. Starting with Marissa & Bianca. I can’t for the life of me, understand why AMC will not get rid of the Marissa character. I know that the last actress wasn’t that popular, but I don’t think this one is either….actually, I don’t think it has anything to do with the actresses…it’s just the whole character. And I don’t like or agree with how suddenly she and Bianca are an overnight item. I would love to see Colby, Liza, JR (which is happening), Ryan, Brott, Maya & Madison to all disappear off the canvas. Also, a dream of mine….Jackson to kick Erica to the curb!! This man has been chasing her around like a lost puppy dog for far too long….Grow a pair and move on Jackson!

This is good i hope they put out good writing and good acting. Would be nice to see some fact based stories that are true but hard to believe … Lindsey hartley is a good actress and i’ve grown fond of her character. I hope that opal lives on too.
