This morning, the L.A. Times is reporting some significant news on the fate of Prospect Park and TOLN’s revivals of All My Children and One Life to Live. The first is: that One Life to Live is being put on hold until the lawsuit with ABC has been resolved. The second: the company will be focusing on producing All My Children at this point in time.
The Times stated, “Prospect Park is shelving One Life to Live until the ABC lawsuit is resolved. The team will focus on producing All My Children, which proved to be the more popular show online. (On TV, One Life to Live generated higher ratings.) Writers are currently putting together scripts for a second season.”
Prospect Park CEO, Jeff Kwatinetz related on the task of mounting soap operas, “Agnes (Nixon) told me this job wasn’t for sissies. If I didn’t want to make any mistakes, I would sit back and let other people go figure it out and then just copy them. But then we wouldn’t be helping to shape the future of television.”
From all indications from the article, Kwatinetz is, “soldiering on and plans to ramp up production this month for a second season of All My Children.
So, One Life to Live fans, do you think you will see the show ever return? Do you think waiting for the lawsuit to be settled with ABC is the right thing to do to see if key actors/characters that were missing can return to their original show: Todd Manning, John McBain and Starr Manning? Do you feel this season of OLTL was crippled due to not having those characters, thus storylines seemed off? How do you feel about the companies decision to move forward right now with just All My Children? Is All My Children the better of the two shows online? Share your thoughts!
