44 July 10th, 2013 Burn Baby Burn! GH’s Emma and Britt & Baby Ariel Fiasco Makes It Onto THE SOUP!

Courtesy/ABC

One of the funniest sight gags in soaps in a long time occurred on last week’s July 5th episode of General Hospital, when Emma’s (Brooklyn Rae Silzer) baby doll, Ariel tinkled all over evil Britt (Kelly Thiebaud)! Britt freaked out and threw the doll off of her only it landed on the Fourth of July barbecue and ended up a crisy critter!

Today, E! Entertainment Television’s popular series, The Soup with Joel McHale has featured the hilarious clip and on online stating, “Not everyone is good with kids. In fact, if you don’t have one and aren’t used to interacting with them, a conversation with a random child can end up feeling awkward.  If this ever happens to you, don’t despair. At the very least it will never be as bad as what happened to Britt on General Hospital this week.”

This is not the first time The Soup has featured clips from General Hospital! We think someone on the staff is a true fan of the show, or likes to have fun with it!  Now watch the baby doll drama after the jump, and let us know what you thought of the moment!

I saw that posted on the Soup’s FB page. It seems a LOT of Frank and Ron campy scenes make it on The Soup, especially when they worked on One Life to Live. And how many times did they show scenes from Passions back in the days? LOL

Sad thing is.. Passions got cancelled..:( Too much camp.. etc (biting my tongue..) it makes me worry about GH. I don’t think GH was on The Soup much if at all before Cartini took over….. I think GH is on The Soup a lot because it is really in a terrible state. JMO.

Ariel shouldve come alive like ‘Talking Tina’ from Twilight Zone and warned Britt she better be good to Emma. Then she freaks out and throws the doll landing in the barbecue…later the charred doll would stalk Britt like Chucky in Childs play but this would be in a dream scene…i think i watch too many horror movies. lol

I think Kelly Thiebaud is a great actress! I actually like her because she is evil with a slight tad of sensitivity. She’s a great addition to the cast.

I love Britt’s stuff with Felix. I like that she doesn’t act all politically correct with him; she tells it like it is, just like he does! And the scenes a few weeks ago with Britt & Felix and Brad & Sabrina were better than the last couple of seasons of “Will & Grace.”

    dmrjmd replied

I agree, Jake R! I love the comedic scenes when Britt and Felix cat-fight, and all of the nicknames Britt has for Sabrina, “Frizz-Ball,” etc.! Love the humor!

Not too much on daytime makes me burst out laughing– but that was just too perfect for words— it will be on GH’s classics reel for years to come. Everyone played it just right. And it did the impossible– it made me feel sorry for Britt— she now kind of reminds of the coyote on the old Road Runner cartoons— you know he’s the villain because he wants to eat the roadrunner, but after all his schemes get knock down– you feel sorry for him and start rooting for him to win just once.

I agree. They are slowly giving us reason to not hate Britt so much. Luckily, (hopefully!) it will be a loooooooong time. ;)

I said wtf? What in the world britch is thinking? I never see her threw Emma’s baby doll on BBQ. Oh my goodness

I don’t think Brit should have the baby once it’s born. Who knows what she may do to it knowing she threw Emma’s baby on the grill. Poor little Emma was given that as a gift.

The horrid writing and acting on gh is a gift that keeps on giving for the soup. gh was mocked when tracy was screaming abt “the relish” to nikolas. Now this. While everyone online seems to hate the storylines of those oltl actors portraying new chars on gh. Storylines need to be revamped. gh is ny based and centers on a hospital. Yet there are still no Asian american characters!

Isn’t the sleezy lab tech Brad Asian?

While I completely agree GH needs to do better by its Asian actors, there certainly have been Asian characters and the biggest two in recent memory work/worked at the hospital. Currently, lab supervisor Brad is switching records, facilitating Britt’s deception, hopelessly in love with Felix, torturing Ellie, and trying to blackmail Michael into a hookup. He is on every week. And Dr. Kelly Lee was a major recurring character for years, involved in nearly every major female character’s lives and had her own major story on GH’s primetime spinoff (where there were other asian and middle eastern main characters, all hospital employees). And though this is hardly enough for full representation, it is not the same as “still no Asian characters.”

Brad is asian…and by the way ive only seen just one asian at the hospital where i live and very few african americans…but there are a few other minorities there as well.

GH is NY based, but it’s set in the Buffalo/Rochester region. There aren’t a lot of Asians up here.

considering how Emma’s mother “died”, this is in the worse taste possible. And is it even possible nowadays to by a toy that is that flammable? GH is crashing very fast

I literally laughed out loud at all of the scenes featuring little Emma Drake. Brooklyn Rae Silzer is a very talented young actress. I love when she is on-air. She is an adorable and beautiful little girl. She brings her all to each scene she is in; and I love her banter and candor with all of her adult co-stars.

Comedy is rarely done well on soaps, but the BBQ baby doll scene was really “well done!” (Sorry! Couldn’t help myself.) I thought it was a very “John Waters” moment, and the actors must’ve had a hard time keeping from cracking up.

I was home sick for five days and when “Baby Ariel” ended up on the BBQ, it was the first time I had laughed out loud all week. And I loved when Mac said the thing about “I’m never going to get this burnt plastic off the grill” and Felicia said something about “Baby Ariel’s arm on the BBQ.” There is NOTHING wrong with a little levity and camp on a soap opera. Why is that everyone thinks NOTHING of characters coming back from the dead, amnesia, hysterical blindness, innumerable DNA tests being switched in labs, yet something like this fun little scene gets everyone all freaked because “The Soup” is showing it? I re-watch old episodes of “OLTL” on SoapNET and some of the best stuff is the crazy things Roxy says

Truly priceless!!!!! And the best part was that Britt wasn’t even trying, yet….LOL!!!! Have to say, however, that I am in the minority when it comes to Emma. I have always found her to be a surly, spolied little brat, particularly with her “pro-Sabrina” campaign…the two of them together are hurl-worthy!!!! Pleeeze rid this show of that Santiago person…she is cloying, self-righteous and just plain annoying….she and Patrick have zero chemistry, and Drake Jr. now comes off as a complete wuss by allowing his obnoxious daughter to choose his (not-so) romantic partner!!!! Oh, while I am venting on my dislike of his child, I do have to ask, has anybody else ever noticed that the actress portraying Emma seems strangely exotic-looking, and not at all believable as the biological offspring of Robin and Patrick???? This is something that has bothered me for a very long time, and it seemed an opportune moment to question if anyone else has also wondered about this. Just saying…..
