It was revealed at the TCA’s by CBS’s Network President, Nina Tassler, that the Julie Chen talkfest that is replacing As the World Turns is called, ready for it….The Talk.  Ah, is that a blatant rip-off…of, oh perhaps, The View?

Then, according to Deadline.com “Tassler faced questions about casting Julie Chen, wife of CBS Corp. CEO Leslie Moonves, on the network’s mom daytime panel talk show pilot and especially for CBS’ recent decision to pick up the pilot to series over 3 other candidates. Tassler said it was the the series’ creator/executive producer Sara Gilbert who suggested casting Chen. As for the pickup to series, “I made the decision,” Tassler said. “I don’t think Les is unhappy with it,… but show screened great and tested the best of all the pilots.” Tassler went further after the Q&A session. “The elephant in the room is that Julie is on the show, but she happens to be terrific on the show,” Tassler said. “She shouldn’t be penalized for being married to the CEO.”

I’m thoroughly disgusted with all these “talk ” shows and reality shows. I see and hear enough of that in everyday life. Is entertainment now consisting of nepotism and some left wing garbage? Irregardless of how “the talk” came about, cancelling “As the World Turns” was not a smart thing to do. Everyone does not want to see a competition to ABC’s “the view”. Which by the way is one of the most idiotic shows on TV. Evidently, the powers that be must think that only 20 or 30 somethings are the viewers of CBS. Well guys, keep it up, because this viewer is leaving you to them and I’m turning my channel else.where.

Sara Gilbert must be the ultimate suckup to cast Julie Chen, knowing she is the wife of he network president. This sounds like a VIEW rip off, but Moonves will never let it be cancelled.

the person who decided to pull the plug on AS THE WORLD TURNS. is a FOOL!!! this show has entertained generations of americans. it also educated people on topics such as AIDS, abortion, abuse, homosexuality, etc. i have watch ed ATWT almost my whole life, and i’m almost 50. i guess that’s ancient to the network execs who only think that 18-35 year olds spend money or watch tv. well, you are so wrong. i will not be watching this gab fest with a bunch of hens sitting around yapping over eachother. or will i watch anything else on CBS. not that watch much network tv now, but CBS will be off my list completly! also, do you realize how many people you put out of work? not just the actors, but all the people behind the scenes. shame on you! i beleive in karma. someday you may be the one out of a job!

No the CEO should be penalized not his wife. Wake up CBS investors and put a stop to this madness. CBS represents American Heritage in broadcasting not the vision of one man. CBS is going to tumble hard from this in the end. The soap operas provide a “Constant” in our lives during a bad economy for so many. Sure the network’s ratings will show a marginal increase in viewers for a spell because they are watching something new. But don’t be misled by this, cause they will decline once the new wears off. Those viewers for the soaps are diehards and trust me I would rather depend on those viewers than the others. Shame on the investors and stockholders of CBS for allowing the CEO to make such terrible decisions that effect so many on planet earth.
Most husbands and wives share their income so having his wife no matter how talented she may or may not be only lines his pockets more in the end. Wake up CBS and STOP this madness. Growing up, CBS, was the choice in our home like so many others because we felt like they were our extended family keeping us informed on developing stories, abreast of the wars, and information one could trust. Those day time soaps offered so many lessons to each and everyone of us about LIFE. Don’t close the door on a form of entertainment that brought families around the TV, Another thing is that most folks dislike reruns. Well, I have never seen a soap rerun ….Thank God.

The truth of the matter is CBS will always have commercials which make them money. Reality shows and talk shows have way less cast to pay, with that in mind the CEO’s can shove more in their pockets. In this case this one certain CEO is double dipping. So no matter how much we rant and rave about them taking ATWT off it will do no good as long as they are in charge. The only way they might listen is if everyone stops buyng the products that sponsors these so called replacement shows, and I don’t see that happening.
