I agree. Why the constant underestimating of daytime viewers and their intelligence?

Honestly, this looks no better than what my teenage niece and her friends would film if they were goofing around. There is no thought, no planning. Everyone mugs shamelessly, a camera is on and some poor intern gets to edit this unfortunate, indifferent mess.

    Firm. No.

Not safe for daytime should be about the back stage drama of a real soap opera. I can’t take this project seriously at all. The next digital series CBS produces should bring on the drama, heart ache, and back stabbing. These are the main ingredients to make and produce a good daytime serial.

I like that Angelic is trying to promote CBS daytime, but the clip didn’t do much for me. Don’t mind the more casual, everyday, blooper kind of stuff, especially from soaps. But some of it has elements of the dumbing-down humor that is all to apparent in reality tv.

IKR!!! My only hope is to let this be CBS’s forward movement into web serials.

It comes across as though someone left the gates unlocked at the insane asylum and they are running amok.

    Pass.

Amen!!!! The executive at CBS are either stupid, clueless, or don’t give a damn if they think this Daytime Parody is what fans want.

I’m sorry but I have never liked anything that mocks daytime drama– for those of us who really love our shows these parodies are insulting– to those who do not watch daytime these parodies only reinforces the stereotypes– and if this is a move to get some younger folks to watch daytime based on this YouTube channel they will be disappointed when the shows aren’t as “funny” as they are on the web– If this is a ploy to get hits, and make some money by going viral, well if they need the money so badly they should pay the head of CBS less money– and now that I got off my soap box and defended daytime, I will admit I laughed when the guy yelled come on down and the fake cat stuck in the tree landed on his face–that was priceless LOL– sue me I’m human.

Bill Bell would have agreed with your comment.

The biography about him mentions his watching the movie “Soap Dish” (very late 80′s/early 90′s), a comedy about a soap opera starring Sally Field and Whoopi Goldberg. His son, Bradley Bell, remarked that his father did not like the movie. According to the book, Bill took soaps seriously and didn’t appreciate them being mocked, which he felt the movie was doing.

I don’t feel as strongly about it but I don’t see the point of all of this type of stuff. What these shows need is DECENT WRITING. These networks and the producers don’t seem to get it. In the past decade, we’ve gotten a perfume company (named for Jabot on Y&R), a handful of non-fiction books that were tied into existing shows (ATWT and AMC), stunt casting, bland looking new sets, gutting of long running sets (Kay Chancellor’s mansion on Y&R now looks like a correctional facility), etc. NONE of this stuff works.

They have done everything in the world but focus on what matters —– DECENT WRITING. The same pool of writers float from show to show these days bringing unoriginal, warmed over plots to each new job, viewing each show as interchangeable and not bothering to really learn anything about it or its history.

This stuff is a waste of time. Angelica would use her time more wisely if she focused on finding new, talented, creative writers who could carry these shows forward rather than this inane stuff.

Against my better judgement, I watched and wished I hadn’t. It does not make daytime look good. It’s just all kinds of stupid. I guess it’s supposed to be a parody, but it wasn’t funny.

WOW…..who would subscribe to this nonsense????? so sad that this Angelica person thinks that everything comes down to social media………when again, as previously stated, all the soaps need to do is have great creative stories/writing for the characters….this is nothing but a Kardashian/Honey BooBoo disaster waiting to premiere….not sure what target audience that this is aimed towards, but i’m guessing 12-13 year old teenage girls….with all the awful reality shows on today, this will not be a major hit for anyone at CBS daytime….i’m hoping that this Ms McDaniels won’t be in her job very long, if this is the best creative idea that she came up with…..we won’t real stories, real writing, about real characters that we have grown up with….not this!!!!!! Please take the money and hire better writers and producers….stop with the recycling of the old writers…..think back JFP and Pratt were responsible for us losing Another World, Santa Barbara…now we’ve got Dena Higley ruining Days of our Lives….Bradley Bell only knows how to write stories around triangles…..only show I see that has had a resurgence is General Hospital….at least the characters at GH are making more sense and the dialogue has gotten much better, and they are getting back to real stories and not what RC had been spinning out……thanks for listening….pity that the top brass of the networks don’t take the time to read what the fans really want :(
