It was some great news today for The Young and the Restless, against all the sturm und drang of late!

This morning at the CBS TCA (Television Critics Association) Winter Press Tour, Nina Tassler, the President of CBS Entertainment announced the entire CBS Daytime programming block which includes:  The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, The Talk, Let’s Make a Deal and The Price is Right have all been renewed for another season.  However for Y&R, the number one soap received a multi-year pickup through the 2017 television season!

Senior Vice President, CBS Daytime, Angelica McDaniel acknowledged in the  CBS official press release: “The return of all five of our CBS Daytime shows is a credit to the collaborative spirit of the casts, crews and staff who work tirelessly to make their creative vision come to life. A special thank you goes out to our loyal fans for watching and for making us #1 in daytime.”

The renewals of the entire line-up came as no surprise, since the daytime programming block came off a season of growth  in viewers and in key women demos for all of its daytime programs!

What do you think of the multi-year pickup for The Young and the Restless? Are you glad to know the show is definitely staying put through 2017?  Are you glad to hear of the success for the CBS Daytime line-up?  Let us know!

Looks like reports of the death of daytime soaps have been greatly exaggerated – so happy that Y&R will be around another THREE YEARS! – it almost makes me finally want to give Let’s Make a Deal or The Talk a chance in gratitude – and after all the nastiness of the past few weeks, I can’t think of a better way to lift everybody’s spirits.

Glad to see faith in the genre, evidenced by this multiyear commitment by CBS. Am surprised B&B did not receive same deal with its recent resurgence in ratings and popularity overseas. I pray for the day one of the nets launches a new soap, likely a half hour story. I do not think much of LET’S MAKE A DEAL or THE TALK. It would be nice to see more of a quiz show instead of DEAL’s silliness. PRICE is an institution, I know, but it is not as fun anymore. As CBS is such a news power, I wonder if a midday half hour of news could be in the offing. I would welcome such.

I’m so glad for the entire CBS lineup, but mostly for the most loyal YR fans!

Three years will give the show more than enough time to fix a couple of things that are wrong, and also means that Phelps can also soon be gone, and the show will continue strong without her.

As for all the “fans” and haters that continue to bash the #1 Daytime soap, I’m sure you are as thrilled as the rest of us!

    Congrats YR cast!

Great news for a change. young and the restless is hear, to stay. my only wish is, for jill phelps to be fired. i cannot stand that woman. she is a soap killer. also i love the talk. the ratings are getting higher and higher, that’s really great news.

Good news– but I still hope they lose their number one spot in the ratings— because I think they are taking their fans for granted believing we will watch whatever they put on the screen and never suffer any consequences for it— so it would be nice if they took a tiny tumble, just to light a fire under them to be better on the creative end of things.

And as long as this show is on I doubt the other networks will pull the plug on their remaining soap, so I think this news bodes well for both GH and DAYS.

Congratulations Y&R and B&B. Glad to see CBS has enough faith (and sense) to give Y&R the multi-year deal. Loving live soaps!

I hope after JAN 31 Y&R won’t expect the same viewership after what they have done. After 25 yrs, I am finished after the bogus firing of MM and also losing Billy abbot, replacing ppl, IT WON’T WORK. Normal viewer’s get tired of that. Try doing that on a show like Breaking Bad, past tense or another no. 1 show! That’s why they will lose a noticeable chunk of their fan base. Or maybe some ppl can’t tell a good actor from a desperate, young not so great replacement character! Back up your claim, HK? Hmmm

Michael Muhney’s firing is going to make a huge difference, Hunter
King, none. Y&R should have called her bluff. If you were ” groped” who uses that term anyway? Well you would report the crime. Top Brass at CBS is like the mgr atMcDonald’s! is a young actress that dumb? Maybe attend college first. Can’t believe JFP couldn’t see this as extortion, so that HK can never be fired! Dumb, it’s ashame the women with power don’t have the brains to make good decision! Mr. Moonves were are you?

Wow! Great news! Maybe the tide has reversed, and our genre is on the upswing! CBS having the #1 show in the USA and the #1 show in the world is quite an accomplishment.

Thirty days ago I would have been thrilled for Y&R for 40 years but, since they pulled the plug on Michael Muhney, I’ve been shocked & sickened by the behavior of Management & actors. He doesn’t say anything but they continue to attack him. I think CBS RENEWED Y&R specifically for 3 yrs instead of 1 yr. was to show the fans of Michael Muhney that we can’t hurt the show. Their message was “to Hell with you. We don’t count. So Be It. We won’t go quietly into the night. Our goal now will be to knock them out of #! 1 Soap by not watching the show after 1/30/14. It hurts but as Thomas Edison said ” Our greatest weakness lies in giving up.The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time” The one more time now is for MM to be hired by another Soap & we will follow him there.

I also am happy that Y& R will be on for another 3 years. I also agree that some of the storelines are bad. I don’t understand way they are bringing new people on,instead give some of the actors who been on the show decent story lines. Paul, Christine, Gloria, Devin and Neil etc. All who played these parts are good actor. Gave them a chance. I will be watching my favorite soap.
