As the year end accolades start to pour in, another soap publication has revealed their choice for the Best Soap of the Year! In their latest issue on newsstands now, CBS Soaps In Depth has anointed The Bold and the Beautiful as their pick for the best daytime drama of the 2012 calendar year!

SID Cited, “Sure, you can say that B&B went a little (or a lot) overboard with it’s Steffy/Liam/Hope fixation. (We certainly did)  But nonetheless, no show did or does a better job of delivering what daytime fans have always wanted and  will always want:  romance, revenge, and stories rooted in reality. We even give the sudser bonus points for making us see stars without a single explosion or gun-shot!”

So, would you agree with SID pick?  Was B&B the Best Soap of the Year?  It certainly has been one of the shows to watch in November and December with the passing of Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery).   Weigh-in!

Make sure to check back the final week of 2012 for On-Air On-Soaps annual picks for The Best and Worst Of 2012!

Well, considering that Y&R has been simply dreadful, and CBS Soaps is unlikely to give the honor to a drama from another network, it’s hardly surprising …

Exactly what I was thinking, Bill! They pretty much had to go with a CBS soap, even if it was undeserved.

Would have been a little strange if they had said General Hospital!

No, Bold and Beautiful waa not the best soap. After losing Ridge and Stephanie, there is no one left to root for.

We all know it certainly wasn’t “Y & R”, what with its preposterously bad plot-driven story lines, unnecessarily SORAS’ed characters, hackneyed writing and, of course, the character that never dies: DAISY CARTER!!!

Also there are now only two CBS soaps. No choice considering how bad the writing was and still is for Y & R. I love the actors on Y&R they work very hard for the fans. Not their fault. They are great. But MAB and now JP and company who are so bias and head strong they don’t have a chance. New sets or not.

Not very surprised. The cbs magazine will never name a soap from another network .

God no lol The times I’ve watched the B&B it’s been horrendous!! At least that piece of wood Ron Moss is gone. They should send Scott Clifton back to GH where he belongs! The show seems to be totally fixated on Liam, Steffy and Hope.

WOW….shocker that a CBS mag would name a CBS show the best of the year. What’s next, The Democratic party saying that Obama is the best president of 2012?

Gosh almighty Joe bite your tongue I still have election hangover. You heard the one about Judge Judy asking the prosititute when did you first realize you were raped. Answer when the check bounced! The American people are about to realize that. Unfortuately for the rest of us who are not takers and think between our ears we get raped to. Now if B&B is their favorite soap then why are they never on the cover of the magazine? I am still trying to figure out why what my husband and I have worked hard all of our lives for they have a right to. No way in hell you will ever dig your way ot of 16 trillion and counting. But what the hell Obama gets 54 Xmas trees I guess the other three are on back order since he thinks we have 57 states.

I would choose GENERAL HOSPITAL as the best soap od 2012 for its incredible turnaround and ability to surprise viewers in this era of spoilers and budget cuts.

THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL did a lovely job with Stephanie Forrester’s passing but I give most credit to the actresses Susan Flannery and Katherine Kelly Lange for that. The rest of the year lurched and leaned, heavy on that stupid triangle, and light on repsect to histories and characters (Thorne Forrester, Felicia forrester) that could be front and center. Do I dare mention the botched Ronn Moss departure?

DAYS OF OUR LIVES has some strong actors (excited to see Eileen Davidson on board) and a couple good stories (Will and Sonny in particular), but otherwise, I am not compelled with the series as a whole.

As for THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS, there is always 2013! I have faith JFP and Josh can right the wrongs and maybe restore some integrity to the characters and freshness to the stories. (How many times can we play corporate hot potato and musical chairs with Newman, Jabot, Beauty fo Nature, Chancellor? How many more Victor marriages and tyranny must we endure?) One only had to see the 2002 repeat episode on during Thanksgiving to remember how good is was once upon a time in Genoa City.

Well that is quite the honor coming from a publication called CBS Soaps in Depth- they had two choices and neither one was stellar this year. I think any soap still on the air is deserving of some reward- for just existing when the PTB at all three networks seem to be looking for any reason to pull the plug on these last four daytime dramas.

I dunno about that, the whole Stephanie dying was handled masterfully, but everything up to this point has been God awful. I dont care, and apparantly Im not alone, about Hope/Steffy/Laim anymore. How two young beautiful rich women would pine away for this dweeb for well over a year is beyond me. There hasnt been much story over the past year besides them. Not the worst soap, can anyone say Y&R, but far from the best.

Tune in to General Hospital if you want to see a show that went back to its roots with an infusion of OLTL to become the best soap on today.

Seriously, B&B is not the “best” soap, it is 1 of only 4 left! B&B writers are hooked on math — all they think about are TRIANGLES!

ABC soaps were always better written; they could write for the veteran actors. Where is the equivalent of Dorian Lord on B&B? Vicki Buchanan? Nora? Like Brooke, Erica Cane married many times, but we did not see her bulldozing through men in the same family over and over again. B&B has sleaze whereas Y&R, AMC, OLTL and GH had love in the afternoon and plenty of adventure. When are we going to see Steffy and Liam rescue someone or fight the mob or hide out on the run; all we get is Liam as a ping pong ball?
