Austin and Carrie will be back in action on NBC’s Days of our Lives come 2017!  Fans of the series have already begun to see the new episodes from the latest co-head writing regime of Dena Higley and Ryan Quan play out, which from the looks of it means some fan favorite returns may be part of the order of the day.

Soap Opera Digest is now reporting that Christie Clark (Carrie) and Austin Peck (Austin) are set to reprise their roles in which Christie elaborated on still being part of the DAYS family now for 30 years! Clark, began playing Roman (Josh Taylor) and Anna’s (Leann Hunley) daughter, Carrie as a child in 1986, was last in Salem in 2012.  Peck has been back and forth on the series as well. His orginal run went from 1995-2002, and he last returned in 2005.  The role of Austin has also been played by Patrick Muldoon.

Now that DAYS fans already know that Leann Hunley is also coming back to DAYS, could Carrie and her mom finally share some on-screen moments?  What do you think will bring Carrie and Austin back in story?

Share your thoughts in the comment section below if you are excited to hear of the return of Salem supercouple, Austin and Carrie!

Im just hoping-but wont hold my breathe-that they have something interesting to do and it will be great to have Anna back…wish VI had played Peter Blake or another son of Stephano and Lee Dumonde instead of Deimos-he feels more like a D than a K…imho

If the show is true to its recent history, I will enjoy them for the 6 months or so that they are on after their trumpeted return. Then they will be let go and the show will promote its exciting reboot while apologizing for its latest round of disappointing stories. Sorry, but the show has trained me not to care about stuff like this. I’ll pay attention when they bring on the Macdonald Carey hologram….

I agree…no matter who you bring back unexciting is simply unexciting. Don’t enjoy being negatives but for real…this is just another sock full of cement.. not a re”boot”.

Is this a storyline that has these characters staying with us? I am weary of this trend in daytime drama to bring in actors/characters (with great fanfare) for short term plots, then leave them languishing before they leave. The joy of daytime drama is the investment in places, stories, characters, histories, and have that sustained. Is that a lost art?

Yes, it does appear to be a lost art. Very well said.

Thank Gawd!!! Austin Peck is returning as Austin Reed instead of Patrick Muldoon. Christie (Carrie) and Patrick (Austin) were a bore-fest during their last visit to Salem.

Agree Peck is a much better Austin than Muldoon. Muldoon looked much too old to be Kate’s son.

    code85 replied

I agree he look older this time around, but austin will always be pat muldoon.

Plus the writing was not up the par when pat muldoon played Austin last, his Austin in ways are different than peck Austin reed.

I stopped watching Days when they fired Carrie and Austin in 2012, so I guess I will be tuning in this winter for their return! I prefer Patrick, but I also like Peck, so it’s a win-win for me. Too bad this is just a limited run. I’ll just watch their episodes and then it’s back to not watching for me. Now, if they brought Carrie, Austin and Jack back full time, I would start watching again full time. Funny how that works!

the amazing news continue… first pratt replaced with an original writer from y n r glory days sussam morina…. and now this!!!!
pls dont let carrie and austins return be short lived like past attempts!!!… carrie and austin are my fave days couple and they deserve a front burner story!… throw in lucas or rafe ( who had so much chem with carrie before) and maybe nicole as replacement for sami as the meddler and the new round of carrie and austin should be exciting!…
i love a heartbroken , crying carrie and i prefer peck to mulldoon!…
cant wait for their return… i ve been off days for a bit but carrie and austin always bring me back!!

Okay– lets hope they remember Carrie and Austin were expecting a child when they were last seen on scene– they haven’t mentioned it since– except I think at Will’s and Sonny’s wedding I seem to recall someone showing a picture of the kid to someone in a fleeting second while they explained why Carrie was not at the wedding, but I don’t recall it was a boy or girl of the kid’s name– of course this being a soap maybe the kid will be a teenager by now—Personally Carrie without Sami around seems rather dull- and Austin stopped being interesting eons ago– so I doubt they will be on very long– if the show is on its last legs, these returns might be a way to wrap up loose ends before the show is cancel– let’s hope not, but my gut is telling me something else.

Are you sitting down, Mary SF? There are rumors and speculation that Austin and Carrie’s child is a hermaphrodite! If the child has male and female genitalia the storyline possibilities are endless!!

    Mary SF replied

What?? Sounds more like a James Reilly story- no wait the kid would be possessed if it was him writing— well if true it would certainly be a first on a daytime soap anyway

    Patrick replied

the thought occurred to me .. for storyline purpose.. that they make Rafe the father

tada! the end… Rafalicious is badaboom badaboom… all that

I don’t think Rafe and Carrie ever did the deed– so they would have to rewrite history– but I always thought Rafe made a better couple with Carrie than Hope- also if Abigail is coming back at some point – an Abigail, Chad and Austin triangle would be worth exploring–I liked it when Abby had a thing for Austin

This is fantastic news. I love Clark and Peck, and much prefer Peck’s portrayal of Austin than Patrick Muldoon’s. I’m really looking forward to having them back, and hopefully this points to a bright future for DAYS. Now all they have to do is get Brandon Beemer and Martha Madison back on contract, and find a better recast for Philip (even though John-Paul Lavoisier is doing a fine job IMO).

I’m going to miss Martha Madison… seriously

even SOD was taken with her work… said as much… she should be groomed to be a leading lady

as I’ve posted… I was still fresh off the firing of Daniel Cosgrove… as he was the resident legalese… and fresh young pup Belle got the job.

this newfound core family … took

I liked the moments.. what few their were… between Belle, Shawn D., and Claire

so… since Claire is remaining in Salem… I’d love to see MM’ back in Salem.

    I’m #MissingMartha too, Patrick.

DAYS should focus on Marlena, Belle and Claire. And look who’s in the middle/center!

    Patricia Nolan-Hall replied

Ditto on the Martha Madison love.

  11. Dylan says:

Keep them happy. Dont insert them into forced triangles and quadrangles that go nowhere. Let them be a leading couple!! I must say I am happy that Peck is returning. Muldoon’s last go ’round just did NOT work. He looked weird, he sounded weird, and acted weird. Even though he originated the role, Peck has played the part much longer and is the Austin that most fans relate to.

Please let the characters stay for at least a year this time, wait for them to be gently massaged into the canvas before getting rid of them. Give them the chance you never seem to give Jack, Belle, Shawn Brady and the latest Phillip who was fine, and only needed a haircut, not to be fired. They could get the next generation Marlena, John, and Roman started if they would give time to someone other than Deimos, but I’m liking this reboot so far, lots of old characters returning and tight writing and scenes with characters together that make sense, like Patch and Adrienne finally talking. If Y&R can pull itself from the brink they can set the standard for the rest. Sony is hopefully working on Days just as hard as they are on Y&R to get the soaps in the best shape possible, at their highest potential. It can be done. I wanted Carrie and Belle to fight in court as dueling lawyers, maybe we will see that while Madison is still there, hope they intersect, being family and all, sisters even?

Always enjoyed Christie Clark but never cared for Austin Peck’s take on Austin.

That said, he really developed as an actor when he portrayed Brad Snyder on ATWT so I’m interested to see what he does with the character this time.

As I told my friend and fellow DAYS fan, hell no. Carrie and Austin are a ship that sailed, ran aground, and sank long ago. But the person above who said their return would only wind up lasting about six months was spot on. LOL
