33 February 25th, 2014 DALLAS Season Three Opening Sequence Harkens Back To The Original! Ratings For Premiere! Josh Henderson Releases New Music Video!

Courtesy/TNT

Last night on the season three premiere of TNT’s Dallas, the revival of the series finally harkened back to its original CBS version in the opening title sequence by including the cast in their trademark three split images that span across the screen!

The last two seasons, only the names of the actors came across the screen against the backdrop of the city of Dallas, etc.  In addition, last night’s season premiere matched its season two premiere with 2.7 million viewers!  Key demos also showed that the series was on-par with its second season average.

And if the premiere wasn’t enough for Dallas fans, Josh Henderson (John Ross) released a music video to his new song “Close to You”  yesterday, which was posted exclusively first by Just Jared.  For those who didn’t know this young man could also sing, you will be in for quite the surprise!

Now after the jump, watch the new Dallas season three opening title sequence and Josh Henderson’s music video!  Let us know what you thought of each!  And finally, let us know what you thought of last night’s season opener on TNT!

LOVE IT! Been waiting for them to revamp the opening to the good old days! It would be like redoing Knots without the theme and the faces going by in the picture frames…and the opening last night was AWESOME! Welcome back Dallas! NOW, about Knots Landing coming back…. :)

I got goose bumps when I saw the new opening with the cast! I think that is what was missing and I wish JR could’ve been in those opening credits. The show is back and better than ever with a couple newbies who will spice it up even more. Love that good girl Elena is gonna be a little bad this season. Also I had no idea that Josh Henderson could sing. His video was hot just like he is.

I disagree 100 percent. The cast is great and every episode provides exciting dialogue and great writing. Is it the same as the original no way but I believe this Dallas is great.

Love the new opening sequence, and also that they still show the original Barnes-Wentworth building (Campbell Center in Dallas, TX). The season three premiere was great!

I LOVE the new/old opening! I was disappointed that they didn’t do the traditional opening in seasons one and two. Very good job on this reboot.

If anyone has not seen the original series, I definitely recommend the seasons between 1978-1984, and then there was another creative resurgence around 1987-1989, before it finally fizzled out. Also, for me, the most shocking season cliffhanger was in 1984: they were setting it up for another JR shooting. Shots were fired into the back of JR’s office chair; the chair turned around and Bobby was revealed to be the victim. It was shockingly revealed the next season that Bobby was the intended target when Katherine, Pam’s crazy Bobby-obsessed half-sister, confessed to the shooting.

I loved both songs. That Dallas theme is one of my all-time favorites.
And Josh’s voice is gorgeous. They should have him sing that to Pamela at their reception. :)

No wonder JR is messing it all up. It’s not about the business, it’s about possession of the most beautiful woman on earth: Emma Ryland. This will not end well.

Emma Ryland, the most beautiful woman on earth? I know they say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder but that is a bit much, don’t you think? She’s attractive but she’s not better looking than the other women on the show. The only thing that stands out about her is her blonde hair that is likely from a bottle. At the very least the other women can wear their natural hair color and still be attractive.

What research makes you think it is from a bottle? Check out the actress. You likely will find she was a blonde at birth.

    TnT 2.0 Forever replied

@Maria I just googled pictures of her and I see her with light blonde hair, dark blonde hair and brown hair. I’m not sure which is her natural hair color but she definitely goes to a hair colorist.

Yes, Dallas on TNT has quite the trio of stunning young beauties: Emma Bell, Jordana Brewster and Julie Gonzalo, not to mention the always lovely Linda Gray and Brenda Strong.

Thank you so much for posting the Dallas opening sequence! I was THRILLED to see that the producers made the decision to kick off season 3 with an opening credit sequence that truly mirrors that iconic opening sequence from the classic CBS series!!’ I know from a production standpoint that it’s become “outdated” to show the actors images on their title cards and as a result, very few drama series’ have elongated openings. In fact it’s much more common for most shows to proceed directly from a “cold opening”. However, my heart began racing the moment the title sequence appeared for the season three premiere when the sharp colorful images of Dallas split into thirds after the camera spanned the Dallas skyline. Moments later, The Dallas logo zoomed in from mid-screen and Josh Henderson’s images were split in thirds on his title card. It was finally the appropriate update of the Classic Dallas opening sequence.

Kudos to the producers of the Dallas reboot for continuing to take “out of the box” chances that evolve the show in the mold of the Classic CBS series when it was strong, healthy and well scripted. Keep doing what you are doing and stay true to what made this show the tremendous hit that it used to be. I’m sure, given-time we can settle in and enjoy watching the lives of the second generation of Ewing’s play out in South Fork over many more seasons!

I’m glad the third season is off to a good start! I think the new show is every bit as good as the original and hope it lasts for many more seasons. Although Larry Hagman is gone, his spirit remains. Long live Dallas!

I also love the pairing of JOhn Ross and Pamela. They truly are the new super couple for the series. Dont know why they didnt see what a great pairing they would be inthe first two seasins. Elena is such a boring character that they can replace the actress and change the storyline. She was miscast for that role. Her acting skills are limited. Dallas is getting better every season. People who aren’t watching dont know what they’re missing. Great writing.
