33 February 25th, 2014 DAYS Casting Role Of “Micah”! Would You Suggest To Play Him?

According to Soap Opera Digest, Days of our Lives has put out a casting call for the role of “Micah”! The role is contract and the NBC soap is looking for an African-American male between the ages of 24 to 35-year-old to play the character!

The casting breakdown also reveals that “Micah” is; charismatic confident and charming without even trying.  Ladies want to date him and men want to be him. He gives off a very well rounded confident vibe but there is pain in his past that keeps him guarded.

Is the a recast for the role of Cameron last played by Nathan Owens?  Or, is it a brand new never-before-seen character?

So now we ask you, who would you suggest for the role of “Micah”? Any actor from daytime or primetime television that you think might fit the bill …  or that you would like to see take on this role on DAYS?  Let us know!

Sadly, till this day, Daytime soaps are so behind in offering african-american roles, except for the exception of the Young and the Restless and One life to live when it was on ABC..So for me to suggest a seasoned soap actor to play this role created by DOOL, is hard and that is sad!

I agree. I think they should have kept Nathan or where in the heck is Jonah and the rest of Abe’s family? WE NEED LEXI! and CELESTE!

It could be and sounds like Cameron…maybe an Abe relative or the son Maxine once mentioned but i hope its Cameron because he needs to add a little angst in Abigails ‘fatal attraction’ to E.J.!!!

I would not mind if he is the son of David and Valerie. You mentioned that before! I researched the Grant family and found clips on YouTube.

I was shocked to see singer/actress Ketty Lester as Helen Grant! When I first saw her, I yelled, “Hester Sue”! I was a LHOTP fan. Do you recall if she song on DAYS? In real life, she sang Love Letters.

Tina Andrews looked so young back then. Valerie was a sweet character. I wish DAYS would bring them back! That was the first time I saw Richard and the character of David.

It’s time for Days of our Lives to try to fix their past mistakes!

I believe Helen did sing in an episode at a church or something if recall…it seems it happend!

DAYS also messed up by not archiving every single episode!!! I wish I could view all of the first 18 years! Do you remember the transition between the half hour and hour long episodes?

I dont remember the exact episode when days went to 60 minutes but i was happy when it did…

    4everDAYS replied

The Grants must have been added when DAYS went to the 60 minute format.

    Thank you for everything, jimh!

Wish they had kept the Grants…Tina Andrews could have been a big daytime star long before Debbie Morgan. I miss the Grant family…the show felt more real back then.

    Patrick replied

he could be related to either/or: Abe or Maxine

as long as the outcome… and hiring… of Debbie Morgan… as his mother

imagine, her working… at the hospital… with KAYLA

story for Maxine… and/or a relationship with Abe!

I want that too…especially if Debbie was Valerie and Cam is her son with David…tie her in with the Hortons and the shows rich history!

  3. Johnny says:

Hire any good looking black guy but write a real character for him. The last Cameron had a lot of potential if the writers had written a good story!

I once suggested a backstory for Cameron i felt woudve made him more interesting…first i wouldve brought back long ago character Valerie Grant(part of Days first African American family back in the 70s) who made a brief return back in the 80s. Valerie and David Banning, Julies son, was Days first interracial romance but was cut short by the nervous tptb(it was the 1970s and soap fans werent ready for this but i liked it) Well, i like to think Valerie remet David 20something years ago and got pregnant by him but wasnt sure he was the father because she was also seeing another former boyfriend Jerry Davis(he was shown in the 1970s but i think for just one episode?) at the same time. Valerie never told David she was pregnant because he broke up with her to return to his gravely ill estranged wife Trish. Jerry learn Valerie was pregnant and believed he was the father. He got custody of the baby after Valerie put him up for adoption. Unable to raise Cameron, Jerry gave Cameron to his realitives, the Davis’s to take care of, who were also raising Lexi, who later becomes Abes wife. Cameron grew up never knowing who his real parents are. Meanwhile, Valerie returns to Salem and moves in with her cousin…Maxine! Valerie and Abe Carver run into each other and began dating, unaware Maxine has been crushing on Abe for years whom she has nicnamed ‘Abe The Babe’…Valerie realizes Cameron is her son and admits it to Abe after Theo tells his father Valerie has a strange look on her face everytime she sees Cam. Valerie tells Cam she is his mother and David Banning is his father but Cam wants nothing to do with her. Julie is angry that Val had put Cam up for adoption without telling David and Val retorts to Julie she did the same thing with David when he was born. David, now a widower since Trishs death, comes to Salem after Julie tells him about Cameron. Cameron accepts David as his father and the Hortons as his family but not Valerie. David and Valerie soon realize they love each other and she breaks up with Abe who later begins dating Vals cousin Maxine! Jerry returns to Salem and attempts to break up David and Valerie. He claims to be Camerons father but dna tests prove David is. David and Valerie set a wedding date with a reluctant Cam in attendance. Jerry, bitter over loosing Valerie, burst into the church and shoots Val before the ceremony is over. Jerry is wrestled to the ground by wedding guests before he can shoot David. He is arrested and sent to jail. Cameron saves Valeries life and he finally accepts her as his mother. There is a lingering possibility that someone might have altered the dna test and that Jerry could still be Cams real father. But in the meantime, Abigail is horrified that she once slept with Cameron who is a blood relative and contemplates becoming a nun just like her Aunt Marie had done when she had learn she had fallen in love with her own brother Tommy back in the 60s!!!

You have a very thorough, detailed, complex imagination. As do I. I love it that many of us fans could write better, more intricate long term story than most of the writers on soaps!

  4. Jack Evans says:

The young Actor Cornelius Smith From ALL MY CHILDREN is around 30 and would be perfect in the role. He played the young son of Officer Jessie Hubbard and Dr. Angie
Hubbard on the ABC-TV version of the show and was last seen in the role in 2011. He would be excellent for this role, he was excellent as Angie’s conflicted son. I thought he showed great depth in that role and would be a welcomed addition to Days.

  5. Sandy Welles says:

The young actor (he’s about 31) CORNELIUS SMITH JR. who played Dr. Angela
Hubbard’s son (on ABC-TV’s ALL MY CHILDREN) would be very well cast in this type of role, in the event that he is even available.

First, I’m glad to see they are bringing in more representation of the African American community. I hope it is a relative of Abe— Abe has a brother Jonah that has been off the canvas for a long time. Maybe Micah is Jonah’s son. Would also be cool if this new character is Marcus’ son, if anyone still remembers the character Dr. Marcus Hunter. Let’s hope that this is not the third attempt for Cameron… but won’t be surprised if it is.

Agree with Omar– it’s hard to think of any “veteran” soap actors in that age range as the other soaps have done poorly with offering African American and ethnic actors roles. Cornelius Smith Jr. (Frankie, AMC) comes to mind. Khary Payton had a short run on GH as a doctor and he was charming, sexy, and could pull off Micah easily. I can think of several prime time actors that would be GREAT, like the guy that played Hardison on Leverage… but I doubt they are looking for a daytime role.

I would love to suggest Cornelius, but the poor guy would never work. AA are not given high priority on this show, so we would see very little of him. Sorry, but it’s the truth. Abe was married to Stefano’s daughter, and has his grandson, yet we see them only once a month, if then. It’s really sad especially for the AA fans who watch soaps quite a bit.

Who cares? Bring more vets back. Loved seeing Julie recently. Bring her and Doug back. How many cruises can they go on? Are they living onboard now?

Stefano needs more of a presence. And what about Kayla?

I just think Days, and other soaps hello Y&R, need to use their vets more instead of always creating new characters.

When will a contract role go out for a black female on DOOL??? I stopped watching a couple of months after Rene (Lexi) left because it became apparent that they weren’t looking to hire any black females. The other characters on the show are great, but sometimes you get tired of the same faces being cast. Diversity is in, DOOL & GH need to get with the program.

I agree with GH, and the abundance of non ethnic characters, We have Brad, but he doesn’t have a background, Felix-I still don’t know why he’s needed. Epiphany-underutilized+her son- dead, and Sean-needs a life because he is fine and can act. I think he played on one of those Pandora movies. Yummy.

I wish they would give more story to Maxine. Loved it when they included her in Pub scenes and bridal/baby showers. Maybe this character is to pair with Maxine!

I believe they eventually changed that casting call to include Hispanic and Asian, and it sounds like they went with Asian, since they are now casting a Japanese mother (named Tori Norita) of 25-year son.
