For the last few months rumors had been circulating that veteran cast member, John Aniston (Victor Kiriakis) of Days of our Lives was departing the NBC soap opera!

First, The Globe printed a piece where they intimated that Aniston was ready to retire and that he asked the DAYS powers-that-be to start to figure out his exit storyline.  Next, there were other rumors that perhaps DAYS was going to “kill-off” good ole Vic!

However. today via Soap Opera Digest, John Aniston puts those rumors to rest! According to the outlet, the actor who first joined the soap in 1985 is staying put.  In fact, John offered up a quote with his own usual dry wit stating, “Well, I am lost in the building, so I might as well stay.”

So, are you happy to hear that Aniston is staying?  What would you like to see happen to Victor Kiriakis in his love life? Do you want him to continue to cause trouble for the lives of some of the people in Salem?  Weigh-in!

Thank goodness! Victor is one of the best characters on the show & one of the funniest [thanks to John's ab-libs, from what I've read]. And one of the best-looking, too! I want to see Victor remain with Maggie, continue to cause trouble and get more air-time. Now that John’s coming back, it would be nice to see the two of them together [maybe in legit business].

Love John Aniston! I’m a newish viewer and Victor is one of my absolute favorites. I would hate not to hear him say – as he has so many occasions to these days – “my idiot grandson”.
No one can snark with the flavor he does. I hope he’s around for a long, LONG time.

Glad John Aniston is staying. Like some of the similar comments–love his snarky comments, digs and jabs. Not to mention sense of humor. He has great chemistry w/Maggie, how they love each other and don’t take crap from each other too, well matched. 1 of the many colorful palettes used on the Days canvas:)

Thanks Sarah!!:) Yeah, loved when Vic “worked” w/Marlena to bring down Kristen. Then when Maggie got mad at him, calls him on it and they go back and forth and they get back tog. All of that & more is well acted and written well, great tv:)

To me it’s more funny b/c he keeps a straight face. Talk about disciplined:)

Anyone who’s in charge of a soap opera and is worth their salt should know that you need multi-generations to create the sense of family and history. John Aniston’s “Victor” is the only male character mature enough to carry that off. I think they should keep and use him for as long as he wants to and is able; never fire him. The same goes for the characters of “Maggie”, “Caroline”, “Julie” and “Doug”. They are treasures on DOOL!

I like him, his snappy one liners are great. “Thanks for doing your job. I HOPE it
didn’t interfere with your Drinking” LoL – he said that the other day.

This is good. DAYS has not one, not two but three octogenarians in the cast. It’s wonderful that DAYS keeps them active on the show.

All of us are entitled to control our careers, but I’m glad he’s staying! Soaps are multi-generational and it doesn’t make sense to just let the older vets go (all about $$$). Victor is just too cool not to have around.
