89 November 22nd, 2015 DAYS Kristian Alfonso Special Message To Fans: “Thank You For Taking The Journey With Us, With Bo & Hope.”

Courtesy/NBC

For those who watched Friday’s episode of Days of our Lives, you know that the iconic love story of Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope  (Kristian Alfonso) came to a tragic end.  But it afforded an opportunity for fans of the supercouple to get much needed closure, something they were not able to have three years ago when Peter Reckell left the series.

However, as we previously reported, DAYS delivered a tearjerker episode where Bo dies in Hope’s arms.  On Friday evening, after the episode had aired in all markets, Kristian Alfonso took to her Twitter account with a special message.  It spoke about the opportunity she and Peter Reckell were given decades ago joining the NBC soap opera, the undying love from the audience for Bo and Hope, and how this marked the end of an era.

Kristian tweeted: “Pete & I were given an incredible gift when we joined @nbcdays . Thank you all so much for all your Love & Support through the years.  Thank You for taking the journey with us ,with Bo & Hope ❤️”

Beautifully put, as sad as it is to know that all good things must come to an end.  Alfonso summed up how much the support from the audience has meant to both herself and Peter Reckell.  But in good news, Kristian had just signed a contract extension with DAYS to stay put, so expect lots of drama ahead for Hope.

Is hard to believe it’s the end of Bo and Hope?  When did you first fall in love with the duo?  Were you watching them back in the 80′s?  What do you think about the sentiments shared by Kristian to the fans? Comment below!

Happy for DAYS fans that their supercouple had an entire episode devoted to beginning, middle and end of their relationship. GH fans will never have that for Luke & Laura, which is sad.

That’s exactly what I kept thinking. As a GH viewer, I thought that Tony’s last episode should’ve been devoted to Luke and Laura. Good for Days for honoring one of the all time best Supercouples.

Saddest day in the history of Days of Our Lives, but absolutely great acting by Peter and Kristin. Bo and Hope definitely was an icon and their stories on Days will be missed as well as Bo. DOOL will not be the same. Good Luck to Kristin on her future endeavors on Days and Good Luck to Peter and his family on their future endeavors. May God Bless You All!!!

Yes I have watched Days from the first day it aided.with my mom.. She was in ICU on Oct 21, 1993. She threw a fit because she couldn’t have a tv in her ICU room.. We all laughted . But sadly at 1:30 she passed away. 30 mins into the show. She lived for it and so do I, We both loved to feel the love that Bo and Hope seemed to have from day one.. It was a fairy tale love that we could only live through them.. Will miss Bo deeply. Thanks for the joy you have brought to our lives Bo and Hope

The final scenes were very well written and acted. It’s a shame so much of Reckell’s return was wasted with him locked in a cell.

    Chloe replied

I agree. Friday’s show was one of the best. I put it right up there with the death of Isabella. But why did they waste over 2 months of Peter’s return with the cell scenes instead of getting him home quickly & letting Bope spend a couple of months together? Hope would have gone back to Bo had he returned then & we would have been spared the vilification of poor Aiden, who could have been paired with someone else [Jenn?]. The cell storyline crept along like a snail but the Bope reunion was so fast that if you blinked, you missed it. What were the writers thinking?

I’ve been watching Days since 1968 & Bo & Hope were & always will be one of my favorite supercouples. Who could forget Oak Alley, the Larry Welch almost-wedding [with Howie Hofstetter as Hope] & the wedding in England?

The writers were thinking how much time Peter was willing to commit to DAYS.

All the captivity scenes were probably taped in two days. The scenes of him on the floor for a few weeks were taped in a day and sprinkled throughout the long period to lure a larger audience back. It was to prepare people for the end.

He most likely did everything in two weeks, but was paid for each episode he appeared in.

I seem to recall Peter and Stephen Nichols speaking of the two taping seven episodes in one day.

Bo and Hope were already on when I started watching in March of 1984. I thought they were great (my favorites were Pete and Melissa)!

Bo was pushing Hope away because of all the danger. Larry Welch made a play for Hope and eventually Bo had to kidnap Hope from the church where she and Larry were to marry. Hope was then forced to marry Larry with the help of Stefano because Stefano’s daughter, Megan, wanted Bo.

Their popularity exploded with the visit to New Orleans and Oak Alley Plantation just outside New Orleans.

I was watching Bo and Hope from they first were on the show and have been part of their journey all the way through to the end. I am glad Bo came back to give closure to us (the fans), of course it goes without saying that I would have liked him to stay on and have Bo and Hope be the new Alice and Tom but I guess in real life it is not very often that would happen anymore. I wish him well in his future endeavours but I’m glad Hope is staying at least. The song Bo’s wife did for the show was beautiful!!!

If they kept PR on until Feb sweeps that might have work, but I don’t they were willing to shell out any more money to keep him around. I was surprised they worked out a deal for his this short amount of time. As I said on another thread story on soaps nowadays often dictated not for viewers but for a network bottom line.

I’m mad as hell over it to be honest. Bo and Hope should have never ended, these two iconic characters from two legacy family should have grown old together and been around for their great grandchildren and as a bope fan for 32 years it annoys me that we didn’t get that. I understand actors leaving etc but I would have rather Bo went to a clinic somewhere to try to be saved or stayed in prison instead of being killed. Yes it was a beautiful love story but I will always have issues with Bo being killed… I am really going to miss my it couple, thank goodness for youtube so we can relive the love story…

Having Bo go off to a clinic somewhere to be try to be saved or staying in prison would not have been fair to Kristin Alfonso (Hope) who would have been left in permanent limbo. The only way that would have worked is if DOOL intended to recast Bo because Peter Reckell made it clear he will not be back.

This time seems and is probably pretty final. Peter has done the gamut with Bo and deserves to live his life with his family doing whatever and I’m grateful he came back for the 50th! I’m grateful he didn’t poo-poo on flashbacks or Bo & Hope scenes.

My mom watched DOOL from day one. I grew up with the show but I didn’t become hooked myself until the day Bo Brady entered my life. I immediately fell for him and Bo and Hope as a couple While Friday’s episode was done beautifully, I was shocked by how quickly it happened and felt cheated by the weeks we wasted watching Bo being held prisoner. His time in Salem should have been with his loved ones. Seeing Peter back on screen and his amazing chemistry with all his co-stars will just make his departure hurt even more. I could not believe how devastated I am over Bo’s death, feel like I lost a member of my family. Loved the flashbacks, hoping for more as everyone relives their memories as they find out about his death. Am hoping this is the end of the Depressing Days of our Lives. There are no fun stories to balance all the death. Killing off all these characters especially Bo, Will and supposedly Daniel in the near future is a mistake. These characters are related to most of the core families and while we get a few good tear jerker episodes, in the long run the show suffers

It was sad. It was wonderful. It was class! It honored the characters and the fans.
Days has set the standard on how to take a legacy out. GH did not even come close to honoring the Luke and Laura story when Tony Geary left. So sad for what might have been.
Writers, take a bow. Actors, take a bow. Directors, take a bow. I’m sure the actors, cast, writers, directors, whole team feel very good about their show. They can all hold their heads up high, knowing they have the full support of longtime fans who love a great love story, a great family legacy, a beautiful, emotional show that allows fans to run the full gamut of emotions. THAT’s what daytime drama has been about all of these 50+ years. Bravo and kudos to you, DAYS. I’m loving the show. PS The flashbacks brought tears to my eyes–bittersweet and simply lovely. Take a bow!

maddie, you say “Which soap would you rather watch? I’ll take the one that cares more about its fans.”

    Not a Will fan, then?

Days didn’t give a damn about Will fans! They had the actor sacked and the character murdered and then demeaned with anti-gay messsages (gay husband sitting in second row of funeral, gay husbands family not invited to funeral, no flashbacks for gay husband, no scenes showing Will in the bereft’s imagination as supporting character Paige got, and Bo; plus of course gay Will being shown as weak and unable to defend himself, whereas straight Chad can fight for a whole episode, and straight sixty-year old Bo who has been imprisoned and starved and tortured and is dying of a brain tumour and is about to drop down dead is still able to fight back and knock people out and be a hero)

…. and THEN, when once Days had murdered Will and demeaned him, Days of Our Lives invited their whole audience to celebrate!

    You’re welcome to your soap.

    Liz replied

I’ve always liked Bope, and I’m glad Bope fans got the kind of ending they wanted and deserved. But I wouldn’t be crediting Days for being sensitive to what fans want to see. WilSon fans certainly didn’t want to see what they got. Bo got to die in Hope’s arms, knowing he was loved. Will and Sonny weren’t even allowed a scene together, even in the morgue. Gee, I wonder why?

    maddiehayes replied

Stephen and Liz, I was comparing Bo&Hope to Luke&Laura. Both were THE iconic ’80s couple for each of their respective soaps. Both of them ended this year. But GH chose not to give their iconic couple any recognition or flashbacks. DAYS gave theirs a romantic sendoff. I’m sorry about what DAYS did to Will and Sonny, but they can’t compare to Bo&Hope. Or Luke&Laura.

  47. Ray says:

The show was incredibly special to long-time fans. As much as it is hard to think that Bo and Hope will not be together forever, I have faith the writers will know the audience expects something great for Hope in the future. I keep reading comments on how everyone thinks Kristian will win a Daytime Emmy. Is there an actress that deserves it more? I thought Kristian was robbed the year Zack died and the fallout with Chelsea. Since I have been watching, the hardest deaths to accept was Wayne Northrup’s Roman (on the beach with Bo), Isabella (dancing with John) and Lexie (in the garden with Abe). But, I think this episode people will be talking about for years. Will we ever forget the past two months od DOOL? I know I won’t.

I am still sad about Fridays episode… I have watched DOOL since the mid 70′s… I would rock my babies for their naps while watching Bo n Hope… Like I put on Facebook Friday night… “Bo n Hope, greatest love story ever told”… So glad I got to meet them in NOLA years ago…

Yes I started watching Days of Our Lives when I was 17, that was 49 years ago. I have always loved the story lines and how delicate the writers have handle each topic. I cried my heart out when Bo passed away. It was a beautiful story line and written beautifully for the fans. Sleep well Bo.

That is true about the characters getting killed off, but that is how life goes.

Bo was my friend. Pretend friend of course, but a charter friend like you would take from a novel or movie. Reckell is an actor entrusted with the character – and that shouldn’t be a prison. The character – my friend – is dead.

I am wondering who will take on the “real man” role for this Soap. There isn’t an alpha male in the bunch. They are all soft – including Rafe. Who is the rebel, who is the tuff guy, who is the independent self-reliant leader. This is still America right? the writers need to remember about contrast – there are enough weepy, self absorbed, sensitive men on the show – men on the show are like a wet sponge. Stop portraying men in a negative light and replace Bo Brady with a man – a real man. (doesn’t anyone ride a motorcycle anymore?

You do know Steven Earl “Patch” Johnson, don’t you?

    Thanks for your note…

Patch? Sure. He is a good follower. A great number 2 buddy. Not a leader, not a tuff guy. He appears more eccentric to me. He dresses the part, but doesn’t have the confidence written into his character. He was more of a presence in the late 80′s (but weren’t we all!), but he doesn’t push the envelope. They have softened him up too much for my taste.

When Bo and Steve jumped on the Triumph to stop Hope’s wedding, who rode on the back? I’m looking for a character that has his hands firmly on the handle bars and takes control. The writers may think by reading the gossip sheets that the ladies watching this show like the sensitive man… I guarantee you if they figure out how to right a tuff guy (with a charming center) it will increase viewer appeal. Strength (physical and mental) independence, and self reliance is a formula for success, even in today’s soft sided world of soaps.

It’s the 50th anniversary…maybe they need to pay homage to the Days when those characteristics were cherished. (Mad Men was wildly successful…why?)

Having been a fan of DOOL since 1966, I have so many good memories of the show, Bo & Hope were THE most loving couple, after DR. ad Mrs. Horton, of course. Bo will be greatly missed, but I understand that he has his own life outside of DAYS.Many happy wishes to BO & his family, as well as to Hope. And “Thanks for the Memories” <3

Bo and Hope were truly an iconic couple. I have been watching since they first appeared on Days, and everyday their romance blossomed more and more. Both Kristian and Peter are incredible actors who brought me so much joy. It is the end of an era for sure. I am looking forward to the writers to start another wonderful era. Thank You so very much, Kristian and Peter.

I think Kristian best summed up her sentiments and her heartfelt “Thank YOU” I have watched her since she came to Days’ in the “80″s. She is such a gifted, talented and compassionate actress. She really does connect with her fans and everyone will not be pleased with any out come, but she was superb in her portral of losing Bo. This woman is very talented and has a gifted for perforning. She is only doing what the script calls for. While I was also upset about Peter leaving Days I too came to realize nothing stays the same. They each have lives out side of days and we must respect their decisions to go in the direction they deemd necessary for them individually. They have served us well and given us their best and now it’s time for us to respect their decisions to move in the direction that they elect. I wish them well in their endeavors and they have given us thier best. Be blessed Kristian and Peter and have a very happy life.

I fell in love with the couple in 1984. Many Australian teenage girls did! My friend would video-tape episodes and we’d have Friday night pop-corn nights at her place! I was 14 when Bo kid-napped Hope from her wedding to Larry, and I took a sickie from school to watch it! Thankyou for the joirney, This supercouple will be greatly missed.
