23 April 20th, 2016 Daytime Emmys Partner With Parachute TV On Periscope For Red Carpet And Behind The Scenes Access!

While the 43rd Annual Daytime Emmys won’t be televised this year, key components of it will be available via the Twitter app Periscope on the 1st live streaming channel for Periscope … Parachute TV!

According to The Wrap on Wednesday, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) has teamed up with  Parachute TV, to provide Daytime TV fans with unique, behind-the-scenes access on Periscope. Along with red carpet coverage on Parachute TV, Emmy winners will have an immediate opportunity to interact with fans on Periscope, moments after they make their way backstage.

Awards shows are doing an incredible job with live-streaming apps like Periscope and Facebook Live,” said Parachute TV Co-Founder Caroline Lesley, who will also serve as one of the event’s hosts on Periscope. “And giving fans a chance to interact with their favorite celebrities backstage is another great step forward.”   Parachute TV, which launched on Periscope last August, now reaches more than a million viewers.

Parachute TV will cover the red carpets of both the main ceremony on Sunday, May 1st and the Creative Arts Emmys on Friday night, April 29th.

So what do you think of getting an inside look at what’s happening via Periscope during the two Daytime Emmy ceremonies?  Share your thoughts in the comment section below.

While red carpet is appreciated by some I tend to go for the ceremony more.. That’s nice for those who enjoy them.. Hopefully the rumor is true and the telecast will be shown on line the very next day.. That will be nice

I do not care about the daytime emmy’s
I do not care about the talk, cooking, game shows .
I do not care to waste my time watching awards being given to shows I do not watch or care about..

The soap opera’s are a whole different side of daytime.
There should be ”Soap Opera” awards/emmys, only..
It would be quite inexpensive and time saving.

So– I will not be watching the daytime emmy’s..
I just want to see the soap awards and they will be shown on line and also the winners, as always..

    Lou Piikes replied

There are not enough daytime serials to justify a soap opera only awards show.

  3. Timmm says:

Next thing you know it will ONLY be available to watch on a TV at the gas pump at a gas station!

    jaybird369 replied

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Timmm…forgive me, dude…but I had to laugh. TOO FUNNY!!!!!

    Timmm replied

Thats cool Jay, I laughed when I posted it!

    Barbara from Atlanta replied

Timm’s comment is not far from the truth. However, he forgot to add that the venue for the “televised” show will be the parking lot of a Big Lots in Van Nuys.

Meanwhile, various soap websites will give us very up-beat news bits excitedly announcing the show — with the positive spin that, by having the event in such a location, it allows soap fans a better chance to mingle with the actors!! Soap “stars” such as Kim Zimmer and Colleen Zenk will be manning a folding table to sign autographs (along with selling homemade baked goods and raffle tickets).

I’ve always been a fan of daytime soaps but the trend over the past decade has been very discouraging. After watching what happened to Guiding Light in its final years (jerky, handheld cameras filming Reva folding clothes in what appeared to be a trailer and Josh and Cassie chatting near a trash dumpster), I quickly realized there are far WORSE things than cancellation. Guiding Light was not cancelled; it was a mercy killing!!

The Daytime Emmy awards have reached a similar state with me. The last 4-5 years of this event have been of such poor quality that it has been an embarassment! When you can’t seem to find a broadcaster willing to show your awards show on television (or you don’t have enough money to even put the thing on the air) and only have FOUR shows to even nominate, it is time for a serious discussion about continuing the event, scale it significantly back to a very low key, non-televised affair, or just ending it!!

Anyone else remember those 4 women chosen a couple of years ago to host the red carpet event?? I’m still wondering who the heck they were and why they were chosen. None of them seemed very bright and, more importantly, seemed to know NOTHING about daytime television or its performers.

    Timmm replied

Barbra, you have taken it to the next level. Love it! Your last couple paragraphs speak the truth and yes, it is sad!

    Geoffrey-Martin Cyr replied

I echo Timmm, Barbara … you speak what many continue to feel.

Re: GL, I feel your pain more than you know as I followed LIGHT religiously for more than 32 yrs, and the last five yrs under Wheeler’s regime was like watching a dying relative on life-support. (I’ll never forget how disingenuous she came-off on that 60 MINUTES piece spotlighting the end of GL; she turned-on the crocodile tears about how she tried to save the show, when in fact it should’ve slipped quietly away BEFORE she assumed the reins and created the mess that was the Peapack remotes and hand-held ‘Blair Witch Project’ cameras.) But that’s all in the rear-view mirror I suppose…

Re: the quality of recent Daytime Emmys broadcasts, you won’t get an argument here after disastrous Las Vegas infomercials and that cringe-worthy ‘Ladies of Social Media’ stunt. (I was there and hid behind a potted plant the whole time!) But I challenge you that last year’s ceremony from WB Studios was tight, fresh and very well-received by those in-front of and behind-the-scenes. I hope we can return to that next year!! (This year will be interesting and innovative; pls let me know your feedback so we can continue to evolve and make the annual event(s) have value for the fans!)

Not a HAPPY BUNNY right now!
Really an insult to soap fans!

  5. Toscanti says:

They should stream the daytime emmy’s online. It’s garbage the way the fans are being disrespected. They have been visible in one form or another every other year. Why Not this time????

    Timmm replied

ALL the CRAP thats online and they cannot air the DTE’s? What about airing it on this site?

    Lou Piikes replied

Because their aren’t enough visible daytime fans to make airing the daytime Emmy’s either on TV or online profitable.

  6. Freeman Griffin says:

Will we really get to see the winners the next day and where? Can there at least be live tweets for us to follow on goldderby? How do we even access “Parachute TV”? Why can’t CBS do a daytime special of at least the 10 major soap opera categories? This is so frustrating! I am so hoping that Kassie DePaiva finally wins an Emmy (she could lose to Finola Hughes or Maura West, but I am predicting Kassie finally wins) and I really want to see her acceptance speech if she does win! It’s so unfair. I only care about soaps myself. I wish I could produce a soaps only daytime Emmy awards; I would make it classy and invite famous couples to do the hosting and presenting: Don Hastings and Kathryn Hays; Erika Slezak and Robin Strasser; Julia Barr and Susan Lucci; Kim Zimmer and Robert Newman; Maura West and Michael Park; Chandler Massey and Freddie Smith; Kimberly McCullough and Jason Thompson; Alison Sweeney and James Scott…. make it classy and move it along swiftly, and have plenty of clips!

    Patrick replied

I know i’m read vacillating, between; Kassie DePaiva and Mary Beth Evans

    I’m TORN

I’ve been watching MBE: for upwards of 20 plus years

I’ve ( ONLY ) watched Kassie DePaiva: truly since she debuted on DAYS in 2014

and I’ve fallen “in love” with her ACTING

so… i’m with you… I want to see her acceptance speech

“and the Emmy goes to…. ”

    Kassie DePaiva

    thunderous Heart full

so… if the emmy panel… truly wants to share the gold… I don’t think either woman would “care”

    “and the Emmy goes to….”

Kassie DePaiva and Mary Beth Evans

  7. Mo says:

Would prefer to watch on TV. Doubt I’ll watch online.

  8. Jay Trotter says:

I really miss the good old days of looking forward to the Friday night in mid May every year to watch the daytime emmy awards. Two years ago they were not broadcasted on any network but someone posted the full show up on youtube so hopefully that will happen again this year. I honestly will settle for someone putting up the video clips for the six acting categories cause if any of my favorites end up winning then I will hate not getting to see it.

  9. Grace says:

There many fans who are older who won’t have access to anything online. It’s so sad. If they would just make it a simple awards show: presenters, clips, opens the envelope, yay I won, thank you… And on to the next. It’s so unfair. Daytime comprises a lot more shows than the 4 soaps… So what? Are we to believe that ALL of Daytime TV doesn’t have enough viewership? I will say again… ABC, NBC & CBS should rotate the show like they used to on each network w wet three years! Go back to the day when it was on during the day. A true fan of DAYTIME (Aoaps, Game Shows, Talk Shows etc) will watch or DVR just like any other prime time show. I’m not saying go back to the time when it looked like a cheesy wedding in a hotel garden with a trellis and little chairs lined up…. But it also doesn’t have to be a big hoopla of a production. There has to be Something in the middle.

    Lou Piikes replied

There are not enough true daytime fans left to justfiy a costly Daytime Emmy ceremony.

  10. Mo says:

I don’t even know how to access parachute. Never heard of it before.

  11. Geoffrey-Martin Cyr says:

Looking forward to it!! (I’ve been blessed to work as a consultant for NATAS PR for the past five yrs during Daytime Emmys Week and look forward to on-air coverage both on the red carpet(s) and backstage reactions for WED’s Nominees Reception, FRI’s Creative Arts ceremony and SUN’s Main , so look for me online!)

  12. Beverly Hunt says:

How do I get to watch the daytime emmy awards. I’m nor very computer savvy.

    Anne G Steele replied
