It’s hard to believe that with the holiday week, and network pre-emptions  next week, that As the World Turns will air only three times,  leaving us with only one more week following that before the show end’s it’s 54-year run on CBS on September 17th.

But for fans of LuRE, and Katie and the Hughes family, there will some tough days ahead, as the touching and heartbreaking love story of Luke and Reid comes to a sudden halt, and emotions run high. Watch the ATWT preview for next week after the jump!

I have never been so heartbroken, upset or angry with any soap, show or movie in my life. LuRe was the most beautiful love story I have ever seen. Van and Eric had an amazing on screen chemistry that is just mesmerizing! I could watch them all day even just sitting on the sofa having a conversation. They completed each other in every way and ALL the Luke fans are totally won over to LuRe. So WHY in the world is ATWT stabbing the loyal fans in the heart with this sadistic ending? And, to make this the worst nightmare, no love-making and very little alone time AND THEN, Noah is back in Luke’s life (after he finally told him they were not right for each other). I encourage ALL of you to call toll free ATWT 866-695-1860 and show your outrage. ASK for an edited dream scene at the end of this show to make this terrible nightmare go away for Luke AND FOR US…I have cried all week.

I came online this weekend to see if I’m the only one out there who loves Reid and Luke so much. Have been taping ATWT daily since the end of last year when it was announced it was ending. My grandma and mom watched and I grew up watching and wanted to be there for the end. What a classy soap and how I’ll miss it! But I’m glad to see I’m not the only fan of Dr. Oliver. I have fast-forwarded through a couple of other scenes just to get to the ones with he and Luke — such a great couple and I love how they’ve shown it grow. Watching the previews on Friday, my jaw dropped and I started crying. I never thought he’d really get stuck on the tracks (OMG, how stupid and cliche) and then die and give selfish lame-o Chris his heart? I feel like Chris deserves to die based on the stupidity of not getting treatment for weeks/months. Plus, Noah’s time is/was OVER, he made his choices and broke Luke’s heart, I don’t want him back in the picture. I hope at least that Luke chooses himself over going back to Noah. Thanks for letting me get all that off my chest!

Many thanks for the update of our donation campaign for Doctors Without Borders in honor of Eric Sheffer Stevens. Raj and I started this knowing the fans would need a positive outllet in the face of what was to come. We knew what a special bunch “Lurians” are but are still overwhelmed by their generosity. The week ahead promises to be even harder than what we experienced yesterday and we send hugs to out felllow fans and hope tha they will continue to support DWB as a constructive way to deal with their grief and appreciate Eric’s performance. Thank you againf ro helping us spread the word!!

I feel like I just read, “Pride and Prejudice” and Jane Austen killed off Mr. Darcy in the end.

This is not good! It is obvious what the powers that be had in mind after I watched last Friday’s episode. It was just too out there. No sublety at all. It’s a shame ATWT has to go out this way. But we will always care about these characters and how they made us feel. I will be watching this coming week whenever it is scheduled. Not tennis……
