After getting the shaft from ABC,  Marc Cherry’s Devious Maids has officially been picked up and by Lifetime! And that means just as Susan Lucci is about to make an appearance at the Daytime Emmys tomorrow night, she will definitely have more to talk about on the red carpet, as the series in which she co-stars finally gets a green light with a 13-episode order from Lifetime!

“We are glad the show has found a home,”  Ana Ortiz, one of the series stars told The Huffington Post exclusively via email this afternoon. “It is going to be such a thrill to work alongside these Devious Divas,” she added.

Ortiz says she’s not the only one who’s excited about the Lifetime pick-up–Marc Cherry is, too. “Marc seems excited about the partnership with Lifetime. I think he has a lot of wickedness up his creative sleeve…so fun!” she wrote.

Based on a Mexican telenovela format, Devious Maids follows four maids who work for the rich and famous in Beverly Hills, but have ambitions and dreams of their own. The show stars Ortiz (“Ugly Betty”), Dania Ramirez (“Heroes”), Roselyn Sanchez (“Without A Trace”) and Judy Reyes (“Scrubs”), and is co-executive produced by Mark Cherry and Eva Longoria.

Look for Devious Maids to launch in 2013!

Will Susan Lucci be appearing? I know she did the pilot, but will she still be on the show itself? Has this been confirmed?

  2. Todd says:

Yay! Now that it isn’t on ABC I will plan on watching it.

Wrong. Who owns a majority share of Lifetime?

Seriously, Abc/disney owns a share of lifetime? I wasn’t going to watch anyway, but it’s nice to know. Someone should put a list up of the networks abc owns or is a part of so I can avoid it like the plague. You would think that with all the networks and the movies that disney owns they could have kept the soap channel and put One life to live and all my children there, instead of alienating all the soap fans from abc, What a bad business decision abc/disney made and I still can’t believe the place where you wish upon a star turned around and broke my heart in a million pieces, I would take my soaps over any other kind of programing daytime or prime time.

If they do a Drop Dead Diva and bring on Kim Kardashian as a guest star, I’m going to scream.

  4. david says:

Getting the shaft from ABC? It’s simply moving Devious Maids from one Disney/ABC Television Group (DATG or Dumb and Terrible Garbage) network to another owned by DATG!

Who OWNS Lifetime? Lifetime is MANAGED by A&E Television Networks, which in turn is jointly OWNED by Hearst Corporation (42.5%) and Disney (42.5%), with NBCUniversal holding a minority stake (15%).

Thanks for the info david, I never watch lifetime anyway but its nice to know what those back stabbing abc/disney rats own.

At least it wasn’t picked up by Prospect Park. That would have been the kiss of death.

    barbara t replied

Every time I hear those words prospect park I get sick to my stomach.

  6. Tristan says:

I think Susan Lucci is part of Devious Maids on Lifetime. I don’t think she would have said anything about DM at the Emmy’s if she wasn’t part of it. While the stars are the maids and Susan isn’t the maid many soap oriented and non soap oriented entertainment news outlet believe, suggest that Susan is the big name enven over Ortiz et al. rumour has it despite some people not liking the Erica Kane character Lucci is renknowned for Susan’s Genevieve Delacourt wasone of the highlights of the pilot which is being tweaked. Besides she plays mom to the resident hunk and she brings a lot of fans and plain interest to this group. She also has Deadly Affairs another prime time venture – she’s not doing all that bad for a daytime star or for any star especially considering her age!!!!
