On today’s episode of the CBS afternoon talk show, The Talk, the ladies of the panel, which included guest host today Carnie Wilson, welcomed Rosalyn Sanchez, Ana Ortiz, Dania Ramirez, Judy Reyes and Edy Ganem for a lively chat about Marc Cherry’s hit primetime soap on Lifetime!

During the conversation, Judy Reyes revealed what it is like to work with soap icon, Susan Lucci formerly of All My Children, where she offers up that Susan was not used to having the opportunity to do more than one take in a scene, since she spent four decades in Pine Valley on a daytime soap opera!  However, the cast of Devious Maids collectively also revealed how sweet and wonderful La Lucci is to work with!

In addition, Julie Chen of The Talk, asked if viewers will get the answer to the beginning season cliffhanger of who killed Flora the maid, who is played by All My Children’s Paula Garces (Lea)!

Watch the video clip after the jump! Then, let us know what you think of Devious Maids, and Susan Lucci and Paula Garces in it?

    I watched some shows/Devious Maids..
Susan Lucci acts like, still acts as Erica Kane, no difference than watching her on AMC..
Susan Lucci was Erica for near half her life and being Erica is all she can do..
I was looking forward to Susan Lucci playing someone that was not Erica, she could not do it..
    I was disappointed..

Susan Lucci has never been a good actress. There’s a valid reason why she never won an Emmy so many times. She’s a personality performer – like Joan Crawford. Very glamorous and fun to watch but little substance. Her AMC co-stars on the other hand like Kate Collins and Julia Barr are comparable to Bette Davis and Barbara Stanwyck – powerhouse actresses!

I kind of agree with you but not totally. Susan definitely brings part of Erica Kane to her current character but the two are completely different. It’s refreshing to see her in a comedic role, her character is fun to watch.

How odd for the talk to chat w/ lucci abt her offensive night soap opera. It’s even more odd considering how the talk has been very vocal abt the racism towards Asian americans and African americans from those white people on cbs summer reality tv show bec they’re technically not employed by cbs. It’s obvious that cbs wouldn’t bash the racism towards African americans and Asian americans from its own scripted comedy tv show 2 broke girls. It’s obvious that cbs wouldn’t criticize openly gay showrunner of 2 broke girls when he mentioned that he can write offensive chars bec he’s gay bec he’s employed by cbs. Yet lucci’s night soap opera isn’t on cbs. It’s horrid that the talk is giving a racist soap opera some publicity.

I really like the show. It’s great seeing Susan in a funny role. She has echoes of Erica Kane but different. I am still crossing my fingers that she comes back to AMC from time to time and hope both parties are able to make it work.

I wish that she would return to ALL MY CHILDREN as Erica Kane – but, I would also hope that the writers at the new AMC, which so far consists of Angie Hubbard crying non stop in every single scene – - are prepared to give Susan Lucci something interesting to play as Erica. They really do need some creative writing so perhaps we could all submit scripts – it couldn’t be any worse than what they’ve come up with thus far.

Devious Maids is a lot of fun; I think people should forget the racism – it isn’t about race it s about some maids who happen to be maids and happen to be Latina like a lot of maids in America. And bravo to Susan Lucci she is wonderful in this new role – very unlike Erica. Sure there are some echoes of Erica but that is what she is hired to be in part- Genevieve is ery un ERica. She is not as strong, she is sweet – this is a Linda Evans Krystal Carrington role. The good girl – now who would confuse that with Erica Kane. Her relationship with her son Remi and her two maids – very heart warming and she does it in such a short time. But yes we want her back in Pine Valley. There are many critics saying her performance warrants a suporting role Emmy. LEt’s hope so.

I have watched a few episodes as I wanted to see Erica Kane in this new series and to see what this new series was all about. So far, I am not hooked as the concept of the show being all maids is boring. Hope others like it.

The standard critics alone complaining about Susan Lucci’s acting; she still has “it” and even in a supporting role she shines. This role is so unErica. Sure she is rich, aging beauty but she handles this role perfectly – it might be ridiculous for Meryl Streep but Susan tackles thelines with aplomb, ease and incorproates it into her character. What she amazingly weaves is a heartwarming relationship with Remi her son and her two maids Valentina and Zoila. Watch her – really good job – even when she is so into herself (Genevieve) you can tell she loves and cares for Valentina as she tells her she can’t talk now after she finds out she is a size 2 (unrealistic by the way as Lucci looks a bit anorexic in the show) as he has to lie down and take an aspirin – you still sense she cares about the younger Valentina and her broken heart as she chases after Remi. Susan has that amazing ability to bring that warmth out ala Krystal Carrington.
