79 October 16th, 2014 Donna Mills Talks About Her Return To General Hospital!

Courtesy/ABC7

Knots Landing favorite Donna Mills has checked back into the all the drama of ABC’s General Hospital over the last few episodes!  Mills who plays the, shall we say, not so nice, Madeline Reeves, has plenty of story to dish about to ABC 7 Los Angeles Entertainment guru, George Pennacchio

As far as what fans can GH expect this time out from Madeline, Mills related, “She’s going to have more than one side.  I think she’s got a really bad side. I mean, she’s kind of blind to the stuff she’s done that’s bad!’  And the “stuff” that Madeline has done have included putting her daughter Nina (Michelle Stafford) into a coma for 20 years!

While Donna could not reveal all the hush-hush details of her return to the series since earlier this year, she did take note that working on daytime drama’s hectic shooting schedule and time constraints have given her some pause!

Mills revealed: “I hate the pace! Are you kidding me? Who would like this? No, it’s terrible! You have no chance to rehearse and feel it and get it and everything like that. It’s all by the seat of your pants. I give all the actors who do it every single day a lot of credit, because it’s hard!”

Now after the jump, watch the Donna Mills segment with ABC7 which contains these quotes above and more, and some clips from her most recent on-air scenes.  Then comment below on: if you are glad to see the one and only Donna Mills back on GH for another round of villainy? What do you think will happen between Madeline, Nathan (Ryan Paevey), Liesl (Kathleen Gati), and the aforementioned Nina?

    A highly intense drama staring;
    Donna Mills/Madeline/- Kathleen Gati/Dr.Liesl – Michelle Stafford/Nina- Michael Easton/Silas..
That story is sure to be harrowing!!
((can hardly wait for this one!!

Not to mention Roger Howarth/Franco’s Halloween wedding and of course Fluke/Luke revile and Helena Cassadine and Billy Miller/Jason.. —- GREAT stories!! .. :)

Absolutely love Donna Mills-have since her days on Knots Landing as Abby Ewing! A great addition to the cast-been waiting for her to return to Port Charles! Love Michelle Stafford too. She switches gears so easily-from feeling betrayed and hurt to being deceitful and vindictive. Love it!

Aww, I can beat you, DMR- I remember Donna from a late 60′s soap called Love Is a Many Splendored Thing ( I was too young to watch it- but I remember my mom watching it). She was also Clint Eastwood’s love interest in Play Misty for Me (back in the days when they cast him with women close to his own age). Donna is 73- I’m presuming she’s had work but it looks very natural- she looks younger than her age but not plastic or puffy.

Donna Mills is a pro and doing a great job even without the rehearsals…yes, its hard but you couldnt tell it by Donnas great performance and i love it when she and K.G. are in scenes together…i wonder if this time around is about Nina’s revenge on her mother and if it means Mad will reveal Kiki is really Nina’s daughter!!! GH has improved so much that it now ties with Days as my favorite top daytime soaps!!!

    Reply

    dmr replied

This past week, I thought the same thing about Mad stealing Nina’s baby (Kiki) and giving it to Ava. 1). Nina would have no ties to Silas after Mad made her divorce him after his affair with Ava. 2). Ava would have thought that the baby would bring her and Silas back together. The only probelm I am seeing with this storyline, is that Kiki will have more air-time. With any luck, if Nina is her mother, maybe she will refer to Kiki as Lauren-her real name. That may make the character less annoying to me.
P.S. Days has been awesome! Love Days!

Days has had a great week too…i see Allison Sweeny and James Scott emmy nominated next year!!!

    jimh(leave it to beaver) replied

Yes, i believe Lauren would make a big difference!!!

    Timmm replied

Isnt that the truth, a simple name change would make Kiki so much more tolerable.

    CeeCee replied

I am so glad you are beginning to see that, dmr. And, I do hope Kiki’s real name will make a difference to you. I remember you were not too receptive to either the character or the actress. We all have our favorites and our opinions. Michael is another story…lol.
From day one jimh and I kept hammering the fact that Kiki was Nina’s. I hope we don’t end up making fools of ourselves, right, jimh? LOL.
dmr, I promise you that once Kristen is given the right role…the role where she can show her talent, you will finally see what I see. Am I making any sense?

    Johnnie replied

I am curious why a thread about Donna Mills and GH has a comment about Days. Put that in the threads about Days. Imagine how upset people would be if GH were brought up in the Days thread.

    CeeCee replied

Yeah, jimh. I had a feeling that Madeline was about to confess to her sister Liesl that Kiki was Nina’s, when Natan interrupted.

    Reply

    jimh(leave it to beaver) replied

Thats what i thought too but i also knew it was a little too soon…i can see Kiki in some sort of dangerous situation when the truth comes out…maybe its even Nina who will save her life…that would be a lot better than my previous guess!!!

    CeeCee replied

Yeah, could happen, jimh. Making Nina a heroine would surely quash any hostility anyone may have against her. Kiki will even need a transfusion ….she has a rare blood type, which only Nina can supply….ergo, mother and child discover each other.

    CeeCee replied

Hey, guys. Should I stop using my nickname too?

    Shay replied

Your nickname is perfectly wonderful, CeeCee….it sounds like a sweet sorority sister, whereas “Kiki” conjures up visions of strippers!

    CeeCee replied

    Hi, Shay.
Thank you., for that. My older brother was two when I was born and he couldn’t say Cecelia; he called me CeeCee….so, it stuck.
I just do not understand how ‘Kiki’ was derived from ‘Lauren’. Go figure!

  7. AJ says:

So happy DM is back. I figured she would be so but it was hush hush that I was actually (somewhat) surprised when she opened the door last Friday. Hope she sticks around for a longer period of time. I can’t imagine anyone NOT being happy about someone like DM being on GH – except for those who always whine about hating the newbies, bring back the vets, etc.

Speaking of that – on the business end of things – Executive Producers and Writers are paid certain sums of money for characters they create, so there is a reason new characters and families are introduced, especially during a regime change. Instead of complaining about the newbies, be happy that TPTB are bringing back plenty of veterans as well.

I have heard that over the years about new characters however RC denied it as have others. I think it is more of them wanting to put their stamp on things. As far as him bringing veterans back some of them he could leave off the set they have had so much work done it is painful for me as a viewer to watch.

You said it perfectly Jim H. I like Nina, but she was in a vacuum. She has previously shown chemistry with some of the other cast the brief moments she their paths crossed: Obrecht, Britt, James (J)-why hasn’t brother and sister visited much? Let’s not forget Ava.

I’ve been screaming for a month for the writers to get her away from Silas, get into some new clothes instead of those 3 outfits she wore all the time, get her up out of that wheelchair (yea) & get her a job, a brownstone w/Franco & a couple friends. A job would allow her to interact w/more cast members. I’d love for her to have scenes w/Sonny!!! Could she be bipolar or is that totally different behaviors than the ones she’s been displaying?

I even liked Silas with Ava today, Rosalie “Ro” with Nathan, Sabrina and Michael, heck even Sonny and Rosalie (has he tried to bed her yet? She fit his prerequisite: breathing Just sayin’…Yeah I like that GH is mixing it up finally.

  8. A Baptiste says:

Charming interview, first class Lady…Donna was always able to put the most subtle humor in her work, a “self-aware” self pity, and yes sarcasm. I do hope she gets to develop multi-facets of her character amid a tighter rhythm…she seems revived by the experience of daytime (I know she was originally from this world.) And truly pleased by her fans.

Donna M. certainly is showing her stuff…she is fantastic. I will relish the meeting between her and Nina. Dynamite !!! Michelle Stafford face to face…toe to toe against Donna a Mills. What a spectacle!
Methinks Nina had a hellish childhood, thanks to her mother. Now, she is unleashing all the horrors of her haunting past. Halloween is nigh, everyone…LOL.
Who to believe? The money-hungry mother who would send her own daughter under the bus?……or, the hurt, wistful daughter?
Well, let’s look at it this way…Donna Mills is an apparition…temporary. Michelle Stafford is here to stay.

    Ces replied

I happen to think those “So-so” actors are better than Donna Mills’ acting. I give props to several of GH’s fine performers.

    jonboy replied

Name one. Seriously. Watch Mills, not just delivering her lines, but her movements, her expressions. Then watch the others and tell me who is the superior actor. And if you say Maurice Benard I’ll throw up on my laptop keyboard.

    Timmm replied

jonboy, your laptop is safe, not a big fan of Maurice’s acting. He measures his words too much! Donna Mills is a legend, no doubt. I would put Nina, Ava, or Lisel up against her any day.

    Laurie replied

    Jonboy,

    Carolyn Hennesy (Diane)
    Jonathan Jackson (Lucky)
    Thaao Penghlis (Victor)

Would do well in scenes with Donna Mills, IMO. They all have good timing and act using facial expressions as well. They all have primetime experience as well. JJ is on a primetime “soapish” series called Nashville right now.

I started to say Steve Burton to rile you up, but I thought better of it. Lol

  11. CeeCee says:

This is one classy lady. She is 73 and has obviously had facial plastic surgery (much more than a facelift). But, I applaud her for not going overboard. Her skin does not look stretched at all….same applies to Susan Lucci, Morgan Fairchild, Deidra Hall , Suzanne Summers etc. These ladies, from the same generation, look amazing….not so Victoria Principal or Joan Van Ark, to mention two.
I am wondering how Madeline will explain herself away….it’s a soap; anything goes and everything is acceptable, if not plausible. She put her daughter in a coma and she’s free? Wow! It makes me wonder if my mother would ever do anything like that….KIDDING, MA…..LOL.
I doubt very much if Nina will ever forgive her….at least, not in her present state of mind. Does Madeline expect forgiveness? She is obviously shrugging it off by assuming and VERBALIZING that she did what she did for the greater good. Ya, right!
According to Madeline Silas was the catalyst for Niina’ s misfortune…uhm, misadventures, rather!
To be fair, Silas did not put Nina in a coma. Madeline’s brain-function is in worse shape than Nina’s…..let’s not forget Liesl’s brain either!! Nina has a perfectly feasible reason for her skewed way of viewing the world and the people who hurt her, right now….I wonder what Madeline’s story is. This ought to be good….!!!
Ahh, Nathan, my beautiful, Prince Valiant… What will you do to untangle yourself from the insanity? I hope Hal Foster has a good ending in store for you….LOL

Oh, man. That’s the big secret Maddie has to divulge? That Nina is a violent nut case? C’mon. I wonder how much truth is in that premise.
Is Maddie excusing her less -than- motherly warmth by making up this stuff? I don’t know where this is going. I am not saying Maddie is lying…just speculating, that’s all.
Next, she will say that she did what she did because she loved her daughter.
I don’t know if I buy that. So far, I have not seen Nina be violent against anyone…objects, yes, people, no! Maybe that will come. But, I certainly hope not.
Could it be that Mad–die committed Nina to an asylum so she could control her money? Nina was/is the one with the millions…has /had all the control to her funds. Perhaps that was the only way for Maddie to get Nina’s money. Perhaps she is one of those women who cannot control her spending…and, she had no money. But, Nina did.

    Reply

    jimh(leave it to beaver) replied

You could be right about the asylum part…maybe Nina was never in a coma at all…maybe Maddie drugged Nina and had her committed to get her hands on Nina’s inheritance and told Silas Nina was in a coma … that is why he was kept from seeing her…so Silas wouldnt learn the truth…Maddie is a Baddie…lol

    CeeCee replied

I had another crazy thought, jimh. Could there be a link between Maddie and the Cassadines?….Crichton-Clark seems to be very popular. I wonder what else went on in there. Maybe Kiki was born in that very Scarsdale madhouse, called a clinic.

    jimh(leave it to beaver) replied

MBmomof3 is right…Nathan did mention seeing Nina at Critchen Clarke while growing up…unless who he had seen wasnt Nina…Maddie couldve shown him a Nina double at that clinic while the real Nina was in an asylum…?

Because when in doubt always blame the mother? Nah. I don’t harbor any skepticism regarding what Madeline is asserting….just as I have previously implied, Nina was BORN mentally disturbed….an inherent bad seed!!! Personally, I’d award Mama Reeve a public service medal for keeping that ferociously feral femme sequestered from the streets for the past 20+ years!!!! Perhaps the real reason Maddie dumped Kiki in Ava’s lap is that she thought the apple wouldn’t fall far from the tizzy tree and felt Ms. Jerome deserved the burden of rearing an impossibly insane child, exactly as she was forced to do! Just a thought! All I can add is that the PCPD better break out the tranq darts if they have any prayer of apprehending that loony tune without further incident.

    jimh(leave it to beaver) replied

You get some good ideas CeeCee about Maddie and the Cassidine link…maybe Ninas father was one and the Reeves name was just an alias???

Maybe Faison played house with both sisters. Maybe he fathered all three Westmore kids. I’d love that.

    Shay replied

The only way I could envision all the Westbournes being fathered by the same man is if Magda and Liesl’s father did a “Fritzl” on them…..maybe even “Daddy Dearest” was “The Balkan?” (Just kidding….) But other than that far-fetched supposition, I cannot go for your similar theories, jimh and CeeCee. The timelines really don’t suggest that…..while Dr. O. was doing the European circuit amongst all those high-flying criminals, Madeline was taking the NY society scene by storm…..perhaps Nina is Trevor Lansing’s daughter? Would certainly explain so much.

She’s gorgeous. No doubt…as a young woman and an older one. But I see nothing special about her acting…and I think “Dr. O” stole the scene.

As for Nina? Maybe she had psychological issues before her coma…was borderline dangerous…and Madeleine was afraid for her unborn grandchild’s life. Thus, she gave Kiki to Ava with the promise that Ava’d never tell the truth, including the fact that Silas is the father…which is why Ava lied to Kiki and told her Franco was her father.

I don’t mind the name Kiki. Starr wasn’t exactly an everyday name in OLTL portrayal…and it’s heads and shoulders above Rocco!
