The UK is preparing themselves for a hankie-filled moment in time with the upcoming series finale on Christmas of the Emmy Award-winning smash hit soap, Downton Abbey.
On Friday, the official series Twitter feed posted an invitation to tune-in that said: “You are cordially invited to by The Earl and Countess of Grantham to join us on Christmas Day for The Final Episode in the Final Series of Downton Abbey. Thank you for sharing this journey with us. Let’s raise a glass to our last episode, the 25th December. 2015 as we open the doors to the Abbey for the last time.”
Meanwhile, series star Michelle Dockery (Lady Mary) revealed in a new interview with UK’s Red Magazine, just how she felt when she wrapped her final scenes on the show. Dockery expressed: “On my last day of filming, leading up to that final take, I felt sick. I didn’t expect to feel so sad. But I think it was a smart move to end the show where we did. At the wrap party, the producer did a speech and said, ‘Now let’s party like it’s 1925!’ My feet have only just recovered from all the dancing.”
Viewers in the U.S. will have to prepare themselves starting on January 3rd to see how it all ends for the Crawley and company, when the series sixth final series begins its final run on PBS Masterpiece.
