The soap opera success of Daytime Emmy winner Shemar Moore as Malcolm Winters has yet to be replicated on The Young and the Restless, or its sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful.
However, Ebony.com takes a look at the three of the latest crop of soap stars who are heating up the afternoon that are giving CBS Daytime fans some hotties, and Shemar, a run for his money!
First, Ebony spoke with Redaric Williams (Tyler, Y&R) who revealed how the name “Redaric” came about! Apparently, “Williams dabbled in a career as a conscious rapper—that’s how his unique “Redaric” moniker came to fruition (his real name is Jimmy).” Redaric explained his name in more detail: “It stems from the word red. People have been calling me that for years because of my skin tone from the time I was a little kid. I was doing music before any of this stuff so when I was looking for a name to use, nothing (else) was really giving me that feeling. I always liked Greek words. I came across the word rhetoric, [which means] the art of language, conveying a message to an audience. I took that word, changed the spelling of it, and incorporated the word red in it.”
Lamon Archey (Mason, Y&R) spoke on the transition from his modeling days to acting, when a talent agent who scouted him from his San Francisco modeling agency promised that if he took acting classes, he could get him cast on a soap opera. Two years later, he got the call. Lamon remembered, “I was picking up my son home from school and pulled over on the side of the road, got out of the car and did a couple of jumps. I was so pumped!”
Lawrence Saint-Victor who first appeared to daytime fans on Guiding Light, found his second soap home recently with his new role on B&B as Carter Walton. Saint-Victgor talked about the rigors of being a soap hunk and looking good in scenes … shirtless! “It’s something I didn’t think about when I was training, but I knew it was something I had to be aware of. That’s why I stayed in the gym. When you join a show called The Bold and the Beautiful, you have to go hard.”
So, who would you rate as the hottest new addition to CBS Daytime, Redaric, Lamon or Lawrence? Which of their characters do you enjoy the most …. Tyler, Mason or Carter? Share your thoughts below!
