1 July 7th, 2009 Eden Riegel on Pratt Falls, Bianca/Reese story and IB Emmy nom!

riegel-news.jpgIn a brand new interview with Michael Logan of TV Guide Magazine, Daytime Emmy nominee Eden Riegel, yes, she is nominated in the  “New Approaches” category for Imaginary Bitches, answers some questions about the convoluted Reese/Bianca same-sex story on All My Children, and especially about our favorite online parody, Pratt Falls. Here is a sampling of the interview below:

TV Guide: Speaking of your groupies, do you watch Pratt Falls?
Riegel: Ohhh, yes! Can you believe that show?

The two gals who write that series are scathingly funny. It’s terrific satire!
Riegel: It’s so brilliant. And so perfect. I couldn’t believe it when I saw it.

They really skewered and roasted AMC head writer Chuck Pratt for that interview he gave me in TV Guide Magazine—the one where he blamed the Reese-Bianca storyline mess on you for leaving the soap earlier than expected.
Riegel: I know. The Bianca fans really took that to the nth degree. They are so protective. Everything happened so fast [with the AMC story] that there wasn’t time to really build to the idea that Reese would make out with Zach the night before the wedding. A lot of people found that unforgivable. It was the first gay wedding. People wanted it to be pure. She was making out with Bianca’s brother-in-law!

Whose sperm Bianca used to make a baby and didn’t tell her sister, Kendall, who happened to be Zach’s wife! Let’s face facts: Bianca was no saint in that situation, either.
Riegel: And then, during the wedding, Greenlee died a horrible death. [Laughs] Oh, the whole thing was a disaster.

I think its a shame that OLTL is concluding the Kish storyline. We see it every week on Modern Family w/ a baby to raise. And its o.k.? Why not on a soap? Its so much more interesting than Jessicas 100 personalities we put up with. And way better than watching Dorian pretend to be gay. I think the time has come to have a gay couple in the mix just like real life. It sadens me that this storyline is being cut out of a town where everyone has practically slept with each other as it is. I thought the gay couple raising a baby would of been a great thing to see and maybe give the show some stability especially in a town of bad decision makers. Oh well dreaming is free and of course since I liked Kish they are out. Life is a bitch! Such a step backwards for day time to pull the plug. They shouldve not even brought them into the show for, what was the point? They opened a door and then as us viewers got to really like these characters they decided to close it and enough said? What was the point? If this was the outcome, obviously it was too much for them to handle and they shouldnt of gone there? I think they need to continue on with it since they opened this up and follow through, and see where it leads. And if they dont have the confidence they should just give Jessica another personality and do the safe thing. They totally disappoint me if they cant handle throwing a little realism without getting cold feet. The writers are a bunch of chickens just worried about a little controversy, which is something the soaps should embrace.
