As many fans have been requesting… it is official! “AMC” will air a special tribute episode to Eileen Herlie who passed away last month. The episode is set for December 19th, and will include flashbacks of scenes of her character, the gutsy former “carny” performer, and Pine Valley’s favorite citizen, Myrtle Fargate. Eileen debuted on “AMC” in 1976 and was on the show for 32 years.
Herlie died at the age of 90 on October yesterday October 8th, in New York City. There has not been a character, or actress more beloved on the All My Children canvas.
Eileen had been nominated three times for a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in 1984, 1985, 1986. Known as a great theatre trained actress, Herlie got her big break opposite Laurence Olivier in the film version of “Hamlet”, playing the role of Hamlet’s mother Gertrude.
