Former Days of our Lives scribe, Kola Boof, who if you know any of the back-story was working on writing the lives of the residents of Salem before the news of her controversial Osama bin Laden scandal broke, was actually responsible for the creation of the character of EJ Dimera and casting fan favorite, James Scott in the crucial role to the DAYS canvas.

In the second part of her interview with TV Guide Canada’s, Nelson Branco out today in his Soapgeist column, the ex-Salem scribe reveals how EJ came to be!  Here is the excerpt!

Boof on EJ/James Scott being brought to the DAYS canvas: “I created EJ Wells and I actually cast the deciding vote to cast the marvelous James Scott. There was another actor up for the role from Passions, [Justin Hartley], who did a great accent and was really good. But I pushed for Scott because he was perfect; he was EJ. I created that whole story, which I titled “The Devil Finds Work.” James was the total package: sexy, debonair and talented. They couldn’t decide on whom to cast so they asked me to make the final decision. Luckily, they listened to me.  There is a lot in the EJ bible that didn’t make it to air. Like, EJ was a race-car driving gigolo, not a lawyer. Had I not been fired, you would have seen all of that.”

But wasn’t E.J. Wells actually introduced onscreen as a race car driver? That’s what I remember anyway. He was tangentially involved with Max Brady when Max returned also as a race car driver, as they were competitors/rivals. Ditto with Stephanie Johnson. Then E.J. seemingly overnight became a lawyer.

Yes, EJ was a race car driver when introduced. I wonder how much of this is true. The timing seems off to me. Days recast Will this year. Wasn’t she fired from Days years ago?

In the article, Boof explains that she wrote EJ as a race car driver but that was changed.

Boof was fired because of advertiser pressure because it was revealed that when she was young she was forced to be Osama bin Laden’s lover. So, Days’ advertisers were afraid to have any association with bin Laden, even if it was a victim of his.

I don’t get it – this woman was a sex slave for a deranged maniac and NBC/Days of Our Lives fired her for that?! OBL sexually abused and humiliated her.

I don’t understand why NBC/Days of Our Lives would further victimize someone who has already been victimized so horribly.

This is like banning Whitney Houston’s music because OBL was obsessed with her. He wanted to murder Bobby Brown and take Whitney as one of his wives. He even had a mansion he planned to give her.

Kola Boof’s book “Diary of a Lost Girl: The Autobiography of Kola Boof” was amazing. She’s an extremely talented writer who has been through so much in life.
