Last Wednesday, ABC’s Nashville delivered its midseason finale, which actually ended on a happy note with Deacon (Charles Esten) proposing to Rayna (Connie Britton), and she accepted! When the show returns in March, the nuptials will be front and center. After three and half long years of misfires, will Rayna and Deacon officially tie the knot?
While fans of the series are waiting for the story to continue next year, now comes word from EW.com that none other than former Friday Night Light’s star Alicia Witt has joined the cast of Nashville. Witt will thus be reunited with her FNL co-star, Connie Britton! Alicia played the character of Cheryl from 2009-2011 on the beloved series.
Now on Nashville word is that Witt will be playing a woman by the name of Autumn. Here is her backstory: “Since she arrived in Nashville 20 years ago, Autumn can still top the charts and sell out arenas. She’s a respected singer who’s paid her dues and who’s managed to both cross over to pop, and thrive in the era of bro country. Autumn can do it all, and does, because she’s dedicated her life to it. Women want to be her and men want to be with her. Never married, but perpetually involved, Autumn struggles to find real love in her life. When you’re as famous as she is, it’s hard to find men who aren’t threatened by her, or sold on the fantasy.”
In real life, Witt is also a singer/songwriter having recorded her latest album in Nashville. Alicia’s other TV credits include; House of Lies and Justified.
So, will Autumn be the maneater of Music City? Which male character do you think might be able to handle a woman like that … might it be Luke Wheeler (Will Chase)? Will she go after Rayna’s hubby-to-be Deacon (Charles Esten)? Share your thoughts on the casting news below!
