Let’s start by recapping two of our favorite lines on Monday’s episode of General Hospital! Just before hitting the red carpet at the Nutcracker Gala, Maxie (Kirsten Storms) says to Franco (Roger Howarth): “Hi. Who are you wearing … and do they know you are discreating their brand?” This is followed up by Franco, who whispers into Elizabeth’s (Rebecca Herbst) ear while he and Dr. Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) are posing for a photo opp, and Liz despite herself joins them: “See, all you have to do is show up with two people that everybody hates more than you and you end up looking like Malala.” While those were some more lighthearted moments, there was plenty of drama going on and even a marriage proposal!
Patrick (Jason Thompson), Anna (Finola Hughes) and Robert (Tristan Rogers) are shown a poloraid photo no less, of what looks to be a very dead Robin (Kimberly McCullough) by Jerry Jacks (Sebastian Roche). After he explains to the Scorpios and Dr. Drake how Helena (Constance Towers) held Robin to find away to give her some sort of eternal life through her research, a duplicitious Jerry is soon surrounded by his henchmen. After a fight with Jerry’s goons, Robert gives Patrick a gun and tells him to go search for Robin. At the end of the episode, Patrick finds her, but we don’t know what he sees on the other side as the show fades to black.
On the couples front: in a heartfelt proposal at the Nutcracker Gala, Julian (William deVry), after getting permission from the Davis girls, asks Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) to marry him. She answers in true Alexis-fashion, but is overwhelmed with joy and accepts Julian’s proposal telling him she has never loved a man like she has loved him. It was nicely played by Nancy Lee Grahn and Julian Jerome, and we are sure the Julexis Army was cheering loudly.
Meanwhile inside the gala, after a tipsy Liz lashes out at Laura (Genie Francis) in front of Jason (Billy Miller), he leaves to get some air. He happens upon Sam (Kelly Monaco) also outside the gala having a drink since she was upset seeing Jason looking at Liz. After Jason and Sam start-up a conversation, he notices she doesn’t have a ring on her finger from Patrick. Sam says, “We mutually decided to end things.” Jason asks, “Why?” Sam responds, “Because I loved him, but not the way I love you.” How will Jason respond to Sam’s admission?
And in a nicely played moment by Laura Wright (Carly) and Maurice Benard (Sonny), Sonny is clearly uncomfortable going with Carly to the Nutcracker gala, because he can’t dance with her while he is stuck in a wheelchair. Carly is understanding and in touching moments tells Sonny she loves him. She then goes to the gala and Sonny stays home. Later, we learn something must be up with Kristina (Lexi Ainsworth) when she visits Sonny, and takes a selfie with her dad. That moment seemed to indicate she had some ulterior motive for doing that. What is Kristina up to?
The episode also featured Carlos (Jeffrey Vincent Parise) in a Santa disguise to get close to Sabrina (Teresa Castillo), and Michael (Chad Duell) realizing from key intel from Monica that Sabrina must be lying about the patenity of her baby! Additionally, while the gala continued on, Paul (Richard Burgi) and Ava (Maura West), who can’t seem to keep their hands off of each other are getting busy with one another in a hotel room.
