Friday’s episode of General Hospital presented to its viewers several storyline beats that may be of interest, if played out right with high stakes and high drama. First, Finola Hughes (Anna) once again had the opportunity to showcase her acting chops in scenes with Jason Thompson (Patrick). Lately, Anna is so tightly-wound after grieving the loss of her beloved Duke (Ian Buchanan), and then murdering Duke’s assailant Carlos Rivera (Jeffrey Vincent Parise). Anna is walking around filled up with grief, and guilt for shooting a man in cold blood. With DA Hornsby (Richard Burgi) twisting the knife, Rivera’s body washing up onto the Poer Charles pier, Anna can’t escape what she has done.
Later, she visits with Patrick at General Hospital, where she first wants some pills to calm her down. Then as she subtly breaksdown in tears, Patrick suggests she talk to someone (paging Dr. Kevin Collins!). Now it’s interesting to see where this story goes under new head writers Shelly Altman and Jean Passanante. Will Anna end up pill-addicted like Patrick became after Robin’s “death”, and thus have Patrick help her through her ordeal? Will Anna end go off the deep end? Or, will this just be a minor blip in time and this won’t be delved into? We vote for always giving Hughes story worthy of her talents.
Bradford Anderson is back on GH as Spinelli is helping Sam (Kelly Monaco) crack the case of Jake’s (Billy Miller) identify. What is frustrating is that both Sam and Spinelli turned to each other on the pier scene on the anniversary of Jason’s death, and say that Jake reminds them of Jason! Ah, c’mon crackerjack team, put two and two together! Bradford and Kelly Monaco deliver a heartfelt performance thinking about their “late’ best friend and husband, respectively.
Sabrina (Teresa Castillo), who is devastated by Carlos’ death, gets some choice words from Tracy (Jane Elliot) to tell Michael (Chad Duell) she is pregnant and to overcome her fear of losing the baby (since she lost baby Gabriel), and stop her worrying that Michael won’t be happy with the news. Later, when Michael shows up at Sabrina’s, alone with him, Sabrina drops the bombshell on Michael. From his initial reaction, Sabrina may not get the reaction she hoped for! Meanwhile, Michael seems to be just fine stepping in for Sonny (Maurice Benard) on Corinthos family mob business.
Then we have Hayden (Rebecca Budig)! After a snippy verbal fight with Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst), Hayden who claims she has no memory of who she is, or what she did, tells Nikolas (Tyler Christopher) she needs to do something with her life. She needs a job. And let’s not forget, Patrick has informed Nikolas that Hayden shows no sign of any medical problem that should preclude her from regaining her full memory back. At Wyndemere, Nikolas gives Hayden a job. The doorbell rings. Nikolas leaves to answer it where he is confronted by an angry Jake. Meanwhile, a sneaky Hayden dials someone on her cell phone and utters the words “It’s me … I’m in!” So, who was on the other line? Is she going to double-cross Nikolas?
So, what did you think of Friday’s episode of GH? Do you want the writers to let Anna have more mental anguish? Do you want Michael to not be happy about Sabrina being preggars? Did you enjoy the scenes between Spinelli and Sam? And what is up with Hayden? Are you intrigued by the direction of the show right now, or not? Share your comments and theories below!
