253 May 18th, 2016 GENERAL HOSPITAL: Is Jason Regaining His Memories A Bust … Or Is It An Emotional Heart-Tugger?

Courtesy/ABC

On General Hospital, this week has begun with Jason (Billy Miller) seemingly getting most of his memories back and letting the important people in his life including: Sam (Kelly Monaco), Carly (Laura Wright), Michael (Chad Duell), Monica (Leslie Charleson), and with Sonny (Maurice Benard) coming up on Wednesday’s episode, that he recalls their histories together.

This occurred after Jason suffered yet another head trauma following the police van carrying the late Carlos Rivera (Jeffrey Vincent Parise) crashing into Jason and his motorcycle.  In last week’s Jason-centric episode, he fights the will of Helena (Constance Towers) who had blocked his memories, and this time Jason came out victorious.

It has been a very long run and endurance test for General Hospital fans, who have stayed with the story since Billy Miller debuted on GH in the fall of 2014 as amnesiac Jason, who became “Jake” and was integrated back into the Port Charles canvas.  Miller took over the role from Steve Burton who had played Jason for over 20 years, before departing to The Young and the Restless to take on the role of Dylan McAvoy.

Now on Tuesday’s episode of the ABC sudser, Jason and Sam go to GH to have his head check from the accident and run into Monica.  He then tells her he remembers his father, Alan and what happened at the Metro Court hostage crisis, and his memories have returned.  Jason later visits Carly (Laura Wright) who is overcome, as Jason recalls the time they were in Florida together with a baby Michael, and that the moments they share throughout their lives has come back to him.  And then in a touching moment played by Chad Duell and Miller, Michael gets the man that looked after him growing up back in his life.

Was the reveal of Jason’s memories and the reconnections so long overdue that the scenes did not play to their full emotional impact, or did you find yourself pulled into the scenes and the moments between key characters and needing hankies?  Is the jury still out on this one? Share your thoughts on Jason’s memory returning and the key scenes in the comment section below!

it was a total bust, mind you the story is still playing out, but so far all the people he’s remembered are that infamous click of group of characters that at least half the audience sees as one group, i.e carly,,sonny, and sam, and michael, his “special” people, michael doesn’t bother me so much nor monica, but its just a repeat, if it plays out more balance then it could be better, or it would be better if he can remember as far as when he was jason Quartermaine, otherwise we are going to be going back to the same thing when the role was played by steve burton, its not “new” or “origianal” or improvement whatsoever so far.

Yes, a total bust–but–surprise!–what is NOT a total bust is the scene with Laura and Kevin–totally “grownup” people having meaningful, serious–and sometimes snappy dialogue! How refreshing–and Genie, you look so very great in that tailored suit–and Jon, you look suave. Made me think of the classic Remington Steele sleuth series with Pierce Brosnan and Stephanie Zembalist. (I loved that show!) A complete joy and surprise! Kudos to Genie and Jon–a great pairing with great chemistry. Genie looked totally relaxed–as did Jon–and the scene really worked. Kudos to the which ever writer who wrote the scene in the disco.

And Genie said just the right things about how the character of Laura felt about it al–the rape, etc–she didn’t “twist” or change the original storyline–giving full weight to the feelings and motivations of both Luke and Laura. Such a skillful actor–as is Jon Lindstrom. I think that’s a real pair.

And, it gets intriguing. Who is the current owner of the property? Why “Lucy and Lloyd,” of course, Luke and Laura’s names on the run. Now if the writers just continue the adventure in Beecher’s Corners or wherever it leads. Don’t let us down, writers–we’ve waited a L-O-N-G time for Genie to get her story (and GENIE has wailed a long time–and, I think, been very patient. Reward her with a great, grownup storyline. She deserves it. Again, such a break from the usual on GH. I want more Genie!

I think that Jason probably loved ho. However, it’s not as ‘true love’ in my book as the show would paint it. Jason didn’t want to procreate with ho. He had made it clear he didn’t want kids in that life, and he didn’t want ho to get her swiss cheese uterus fixed for his chance to be a father. If I recall right, yes, they did the surgery on Jake’s birthday just months after his death. For all they had played up how great Jason’s loss was, that day showed me that no, he didn’t have a clue what it’s like to lose a child. He would have told ho outright what an insensitive individual shrew she was for planning this on Jake’s birthday. Parent who lose children are absolutely miserable on their child’s birthday once the child is gone. Liz was struggling that day, Jason wasn’t. Jason saw this when he ran into Liz at the hospital. He told her then that this is what ho wanted, and he was just there because he felt responsible for the fact she couldn’t have kids thanks to Manny (and of course the fact that Kelly Lee had told ho she also had no viable eggs was totally left out of the story never to be heard again-like most of her other flaws). That to me wasn’t a man who was there hoping to finally have another child, but more just a part of their typical tag along codependency routine.

Their marriage was mostly about Jason chasing after Liz leading her on when he shouldn’t have, and ho playing footsie with McBain. That’s not true love for either party. I can see Jason picking ho over Liz from the aspect that she didn’t want her kids raised near that kind of violence, and ho didn’t care about a child’s well being. She asked Jason to murder Hope’s grandmother so she could take the child as her own.

The fact that Jason was once again drawn to ho in the wake of her hurting Jake once again speaks volumes about ‘this’ Jason.

    Donna replied

Jason needs to RUN from Liz whenever he sees her!! She is nothing but a lying, manipulative skank! At least SAM OWNED what she did in the past, Lizzie will never do that, just keeps making the same mistakes over and over again. Thinking it would be “THEIR TIME” and that she would have “HER CHANCE” with Jason, never gonna happen ho!

You need her Jane Elliott superb the old pros are going to save the show. I truly hope do we really need another how to cook lasagna show?

What I love the most about this forum is that each writer chooses words to convey meaning without needing vulgarity.

I’m not loving the memory recall, mostly because the Quartermaine memories are not back. That added dynamic would make the character multi-layered and more fitting with his Jake persona. Hopefully that will come.

    Soaphound replied

Oh, Ashlee please NO! To me, Jason Thompson hits a few notes well, but is not really a versatile actor. He just isn’t terribly compassionate or likable, both of which Billy Miller and Steve Burton (among others) are. That was fine for the Patrick character, he wasn’t supposed to be as emotionally open. Maybe he should return to Patrick. But Billy Abbott has been ruined now, so I don’t even want BM saddled with that turnaround task. I guess I’m in a minority as one who accepts and adores Billy M. So I guess I’ll just hope the stories will move us past this dull stage.

I would hire Freddie Prince Jr. to write. [Dont laugh] He was on the creative staff at WWE for a year. They have always said, wrestling is a man’s soap opera! The lack of impact for Jason getting his memories back really has to do with the poor writing choices. I think the actors are perfectly capable of performing emotional material. But, they can’t fill a void. In Miller’s case, he’s just being asked to recite endless exposition. Look at what Nancy Lee Grahn did in her scenes w/Julian & Sonny. They had all the dialogue, she had very little, but her expressions said it all.

In Jason’s case, a guy flooded with memories from his past is being given very little opportunity to *show* how that affects him. Everyone else around him is emoting. But, he isn’t. He’s just talking up a storm. It’s a very strange choice by the head writers, and one that isn’t successful IMO.

    Reply

    Soaphound replied

YES, you’ve hit on a very valid point. As we saw with the roadside scenes earlier this week, Billy Miller doesn’t need reams of dialogue, his expressions are often spare (like Steve Burton) but very telling and effective. He just needs to allowed to bring in some of his own humor and quirkiness instead of having the weight of the world on him all the time.

    Liam replied

    Dear Jasammer,

I have been a faithful GH watcher since the late 70′s. Your Jasam is a blip on the radar of all things that are great (or not great) about GH. While I am a fan of Liz (I am not a fan of Liason), I am a greater fan of the continuity, history of the show, and veterans who really brought in ratings before the show became all about Sonny/Carly/Jason/Sam (you probably were too young to remember that).

    Justin replied

Well stated Liam. I too am a long-time viewer. The Sonny/Carly/Jason/Sam fans have no clue about the stories and actors that saved the show from cancellation and gave it record-setting ratings. Imagine what could be done again if someone at the top would honor the shows history.

Liarson Fan much? When “Jake” was with Lying Lizzy he was the greatest! Now that he has a personality and getting his memories back it’s a bust? #GT_OH

    Sara replied

I have been a viewer since the late 70′s myself! Jasam is sexy & exciting! Jake & Liz were a snooze fest! Times change,Soaps change! Why would anyone want the writing to parallel the 70′s???

    Michael (not Fairman) replied

Why would anyone want the writing to parallel the 70s? Can’t speak for others, but for me, it would be because the writing back then was actually compelling–and the kindest thing I can say about the writing over most (though perhaps not all) of the last 20 years is that it hasn’t been (and I’m beginning to think the current team is the worst situation during that time, with the exception of the bloody awful McTavish era)? Once upon a time, the soaps–including GH–knew how to tell a story, develop characters, maintain continuity, pace appropriately, and integrate multiple storylines so that a show felt like an integrated whole. Would I go back to that if I could? Oh hell yeah!

Those of you strictly in the Jason/Sam or Jason/Liz camps (I refuse to use the mashup names, because I find them idiotic) might do well to remember that not everyone is one or the other–and that applies to couples, period, not just these. For some of us, it’s much more important that the storylines keep our interest and (attention, Jean and Shelly) make sense. I can be a fan of either couple or even both if the writing is there. In this particular storyline mess (disaster), I have found Jason and Liz somewhat more compelling because Becky Herbst has done such a good job at bringing something interesting to (very) weak material. The whole thing hasn’t made a whole lot of sense, however, and fans of either couple, frankly, deserved a better re-entry story for Jason. But this whole thing has been such a muddled mess that I’m surprised either couple has a single fan left.

    Harry replied

Oh Good Lord, Sarah and Jasmine, can we PLEASE not engage in that idiotic JASAM vs LIASON war?
Most of us here are kind of above that idiocy. Can we PLEASE express an opinion about Billy Miller as Jason without being accused of being a LIASON fan?
Honestly, do you folks ever hear yourselves?

A total bust, even bigger disappointment than the ‘reveal’ which had such a great build up but still felt weak. Taking so long to happen is just one of the problems. He doesn’t seem to recall that he chose not to help Alan, who he hadn’t called dad. Then calls Monica mom, also never done. And why of all 20 years would he remember a trip to Fla w/Carly & Michael. Seems the writers are being very selective about what he remembers, then having Others kind of put their spin on them so can avoid some painful truths. Trying to be patient and see where the writers go with this, but so far not impressed. They tend to make Jason shallow and with no insight into who he really was. And they need to get Liz in on the memory tour soon. She knew him and was important to him for most of that 20 years.

No Liz wasn’t a “huge” part of his 20 yr history. She was there in dribbs and drabs and usually full of drama and lies. It was only fitting she wasn’t included in his special episode. Seriously, the right people who always treated Jason like family were there. :-)

Yes, Shannon. Wasn’t the scene where he hugged Michael like a son unbearably touching? I’m tired of people dumping on Billy just because the story may be sluggish or not what their unreasonably high expectations promised. Kathy replied

Liz will never be loved by Jason the way he loves Sam.

Yes but he should still go see Liz and let her know. And have a scene with her where he remembers that she is a good person who does stupid and manipulative things to get what she wants but then regrets it. Like how she changed baby Danny’s DNA test results and then went to Jason the next day and confessed. He immediately forgave her. Maybe they can finally evolve Liz’s character and Jason can help with that. And age her kids appropriately!

I thought the scenes with Carly and Michael were touching but the other scenes were huge letdowns. BM is not a great actor when it comes to showing his emotions. He is trying too hard to play Jason like a robot. SB was great at showing his emotion with his eyes and still maintaining a tough exterior but BM does not have that skill.
His scene with Monica was awful, he didn’t even hug her. His scene with Sam was just boring. His scene with Sonny was flat, their hug at the end was so limp and emotionless. You don’t feel like he actually cares about these people. And they could have done some montages from Jason’s perspective. It would have added some emotion to the scenes.

    Harry replied

Would the anti Lizzy fans take it some where else? Honestly, reading such posts reminds me of being back in middle school and I sense these posts are coming from middle aged women.
Lizzy is a gorgeous, ethereally beautiful woman who has been through hell and back. But guess what? I kind of like Sam too. And like it or not, Lizzy is an integral part of Jason’s past. They have a child together.
Honestly, I would rather Lizzy move on because she is too damn good for Jason.

    Tatiana replied

Harry, its not up to you to censor people’s opinions. Its too bad for you that not everyone shares your exalted opinion of Liz. Or Sam or any other character for that matter. Telling people to take it somewhere else is just rude. People are expressing their opinions and of course they are not all going to agree with yours but everyone has a right to post. Don’t respond to a post if you don’t like the content. But do not tell people they cannot post their opinions just because you don’t like what they have to say.

A huge bust …It is pretty obvious that the writers don’t give 2 sh*** about Jasluts. They may be writing them together but they aren’t writing them any type of an emotional story which is what this should be. That was evidenced by the fact that Jason apparently slept before talking to Samho about his memories returning and remembered her in her peepshow outfit and falling down the stairs and him catching her. That screams romance and emotion. I get that most Jasam fans don’t care about the writing that they are all about their couple together but it is crappy writing with no depth or emotion at all. No wonder BM is not into any of this, looks bored and people are bashing his acting choices constantly. Based on spoilers, it seems they aren’t going to get any great writing because their story is going to be an adventure story where they look into who hurt Lucas. Not exactly meaty, emotional material.
they may get a few emotional words but they are not being written as a love story at all. His memories are of stripper outfits, conjugal visits, easy to be with, a As a Liz & Liz/Jason fan, I look back at the last 18 months and feel thankful. The Liz/Jason fans totally got the best out of this story. Seriously Liz & Jason may not be together & of course that stupid lie, but wow the actors BM&RH put out some great work & we believed it. They were special. jmo

Thank goodness for that because just as many fans are not so inclined to think the Jasam story has been a bust NOT everyone need the flashbacks to appreciate the memories he choose to elaborate on and some of us remember the fact that ORINGINAL Jason didn’t get all overly emotional like so many want him to the last time he had this happen so.. Miss me (with the reading lines crap). And as much as everyone hates (the mob crap!) it sustained gh and its ratings for many yrs cemented many of its characters back stories and shaped much is the landscapes u all LOVE to hate on w/o it u all would probably be crying like many of the OLTL fans are now.

Preach. Love or hate RC’s writing sometimes, but he did write an excellent pre-lie story for Elizabeth and Jake Doe.

Jason is supposed to be going to therapy since last November and he promised Elizabeth to figure out the book Helena gave little Jake.

I am a die hard Jasam fan but I am a Jason fan first because the character has been on the longer than Sam. Of course there was no emotion because he had NO memory of his entire life. I do love they are together but without his memories they were still incomplete because deep down Sam wanted him to remember and he didn’t because he didn’t know what it meant. There was no on screen chemistry with Liz and Jason plus well it was believable to some because he was working with a clean slate and no baggage. Well with Jasam there was always an elephant in the room and that was his missing memories. IMO

Liz/Jake/Jason had the lowest ratings for 18 wks straight so that indicates great work hmmm a new one on me.The Jake Doe storyline was a bust from the start and if the reveal had happened last may as originally planned(and yes I know what I am saying and have the source to prove it) then Jason would have had his memories nov sweeps 2015 and a lot of bs could have been avoided.Certain writers are responsible for that and if you watch you know the names. There was never chemistry between BM/RH and if you say you saw it then recheck websters for the definition.

The 18 weeks of lows were in part due to Lake. Not because Lake were together on the screen, but they told us outright with the lie how it was going to end. Why would folks continue to turn in when they broadcast the outcome and it wasn’t what you wanted to watch? At the same time, they killed off Duke, had ho front and center making Patrick look like a fool (to the point where the actor left the show), turned Anna into a murderer, and Nik into an attempted murderer. This is what caused the poor ratings, not the fact that Liason was the story. To say otherwise is like saying that Patrick and Sabrina were working knowing that Robin was alive.

Look at the Michael Fairman article on the Jason finally got his memories. Jason fans (including those who don’t ship a Jason pairing) , GH fans, Liason fans all say the episode was a complete dud. Only Jatrip fans liked it.

When the show was all Jafail, Sonny & Carly, and the mob, ratings fell to the point where it was questionable that the show would stay on the air. Ron did bring it back from the brink. We’re headed there again. Jafail fans will always say that just because Lake were together, they were the reason the ratings were so bad. They will never see that ho hurting Jake multiple times is bad. She had a moment of weakness. She was just there figuring out that Jake was behind the broken window, etc. They don’t see her or the story as bad. There are many fans of the pairing who don’t like what they’ve seen on screen this time around. Those who are ecstatic over their reunion and this writing don’t care about content, only that they ‘win’. Any way these two are pair together to them is a win. They won’t see the correlation between the current decline in ratings as partially the fault of the reunion. It’s not the only reason the show is falling into a slump-it’s all the bad stories going on at the same time, just as in the past. We’ve got Sonny the ‘hero’. Sonny, Carly, Jason, ho all front and center, along with some mob stories written to make Sonny the hero. It’s tanking ratings again, along with the fail that is 1.6. I can talk till I’m blue in the face, and they won’t ever see it. Let them think what they want.

Awww, you’re just mad because he had no memory scenes with Liz, well he will, he will remember how she switched the DNA when he thought Danny was alive. How she lied and manipulated him when Sam and him weren’t together, the birthday party and other stuff, how she asked him not to claim Jake as his own so Lucky could raise him, yeah, all that is coming on top of the Jake Doe lies she told him, it will be great to see Jason finally put Miss Perfect Liz in her place and rip her to shreds for all of the pain she caused Sam and him!

Jason only show real emotion with Liz… With Samho it’s like he has to be her pillar all the time… Never the other way around… Soulmate share the load…. It’s like having a softer version of Carly 24/7… With a little less whining… Last if GH wants Jasam together as their “SC” (Which will never happen. Sorry the fans are just not on their side and fans is what that takes.) Shouldn’t they be able to stand as a couple without always having to make Liz (no one else but Liz) their fall guy. The only time that couple pulls that kind of passion from fans is when big bad Liz is trying to take Jason… Which by the way always is falling Liz around and mad at every guy that gets near Liz…. Beating them up and all but it is always Liz’s fault some how…

Personall , my take is the show has written it more like Jason is the boy that don’t want anyone playing with his toys even when he don’t want them… If this were real life… Most of us women would be saying dump that loser to both women… As it stands he the Hero of the show Liz is his girl Friday the one that he goes to when he needs a pillar of support, to clean up his messes, to save his butt and to take the fall. While Samho is the sexy lounge singer he can’t get enough of. He picks up her mess, dates, marries, but she always has some trouble he has to get her out of but it’s never her fault. AS for Liz she NEEDS to be OUT of Jason/Samho orbit lets see how long it takes that they draw her back into their mess…..

    Nut up much writers ?

so it’s on their memory back tour….

it’s going to reek expletive… IF… Liz is the only one in Jason life… scathed burned and left by the wayside

Liz nursed this man back to life…. they both fell in love…. these two things matter to fans .. of the show who wanted a real romance and love

    then the “big lie” happened….

so yes… I have an ax to grind… and will be watching mindful of how Jason reacts to the mother of his oldest child….

he certainly cant’ blame her… for the car accident and amnesia

plus… everything up to that point… must have been OK with Steve Burton and Rebecca Herbst Liz… she knew Jason and Sam married and had a child… and Jason … for all intent and purpose wasnt’ holding a grudge against Liz… he didn’t even know Jake was his… and was happy and OK with Lucky being “lilJAKE” father

so… it’s that damned lie… ???? you’d think all of port Charles would just move on and be accepting that at the very minimum… they have Jason back and he’s alive

it’s juvenile and immature…. especially with Sam and Carly

    talk about jealous… women ??? !!!!

Rebecca Herbst as Liz… is so beautiful…. plus RH ACTS volumes over The actors who portray Sam and Carly

Rebecca Herbst layers her character and imbues must watch and is an easy character to root for because of all her history….

    she gives you heartache
    she gives you love

I loved it. I felt that the memories of random, little events like the trip to Florida are to show that he remembers even small details that normally we would forget. It’s not about, say remembering his wedding to Sam, but remembering that she was wearing a corset during an evening at home b/c she had been working undercover on a PI case. Things like that show intimate knowledge that proves he’s coming back. And Carly’s reaction was wonderful and emotional. And to the poster who said he forgot that he choose not to help Alan, all Jason did was express his regret and shame that he didn’t come see him when he was dying, that he choose to stay away. And calling Monica, Mom, was his way of showing that he is going to make amends for not being a son to her for 20 years. Well done all around!

Carly – crying and finding a way to make it about her, Michael embracing the man who had such a huge influence on his life from day one, Sam, finally having the man who holds her heart remember sweet, intimate and family loving moments, and Monica finding out her son is really back – all terrific. These are all the people who should be in the first scenes with Jason, so I believe it was all handled well and true to character. Jason could be the fulcrum of a much-wanted resurrected Quartermaine component to the landscape. I would like to see some of the cheekiness Miller brought to his Billy on Y&R. Well, it’s only been a couple of days of scenes, but so far I’m disappointed. There was such a huge opportunity to do something different with the story of Jason’s return, and it seems to have been wasted. The mentioned memories that have been cherry-picked by the writers are puzzling choices. There doesn’t seem to be much depth to them. I’m hoping there’s a reason, like maybe this isn’t Jason at all, but a player in Helena’s last big game on Port Charles. (Not holding my breath for a great story like that, though.) I’m a huge Billy Miller fan, and am struggling to watch. He’s capable and deserving of so much more. Maybe as the story continues he’ll get it.

I have been a Jason Morgan fan since he drove his motorcycle through the Q living room. I also love Billy Miller and think he proven he is one of the best in daytime. That said, this whole story was not done from Jason POV and has had little to no emotional investment. Jason Morgan was more than leather jackets and relationships/experiences consisting of many people outside of the fab (rme) four. He wasn’t a violence junkie, sex driven, tunnel vision man. He was stoic at times but had deep relationships with a variety of people important to him including Elizabeth. Ignoring all his history for only a select group is a disservice to longtime fans and the character we’ve loved.

More than a bust this will bring cancellation. They used an uber popular character AGAIN as bait to again prop a failed pairing. Their last ‘reunion’ pulled the lowest ratings in GH history and they do it again? Really? Jasam is a bust. Stop trying to force them on the audience. When you have to trash another character who he once loved, that’s not a triangle, that’s agenda. People saw it and stopped watching . Now Jasams insta love and Jason’s ‘memories’ that don’t include the mother of his first child, who saved ilhis life more than once and his complete disregard for the kid is just stone cold who ratings proved the majority of viewers disliked, because when they kicked his ass into the harbor the ratings went UP. So the new regime comes in and repeats th SAME exact Jasam/Carson crap.

It’s like Frons is still running the show. People have tried to tell them that VIEWERS decide what pairings they like, not TIIC. The ratings will continue ue to plummet as they’ve showed over and over they course correct when it’s too late. I’m done watching due to backstage politics and ratings prove I’m not alone

The show is toast. Agendas suck.

I’m lukewarm on this . eh.. 50/50.,, I want Jason to remember everything from when he was Jason Quartermaine up to date. It’s time that he and his memories were totally integrated.especially so that he would be able relate to himself and understand his true nature , pre accident and Sonny.
Jason Q was bright, articulate who at a young age had a calling to follow in his parents footsteps to become a skillful Doctor. He was very gifted and looked forward to his chosen profession and to discover through research new ways to save lives (as opposed to being a master assassin who coldly takes lives)- He’d started showing great promise. I believe he needs to remember how he was emotionally connected he was to his parents, extended family amd those he loved prior to his accident. If these writers would just allow for this to happen him, then Billy will have the meat that he needs to portray someone who can own and understand his conflicts etc. Sadly it seems that these writers don’t care to dig in and get deep about anything, which is extremely disappointing and disheartening.
One more thing, It really annoys me that the people who claim to love Jason so much i.e. Sam, Carly, Sonny. and Michael just want him back as Jason Morgan., with the exception of his Mother, Monica and perhaps Elizabeth. I was waiting for Jason to tell her about his recall and when he called her Monica and then Mom, I got a bit teary, but it wasn’t what I’d hoped for. I loved it! They couldn’t do flashbacks and there is too much for them to recreate the scenes with Billy Miller, so how they have him recalling the memories I feel is good. I miss the mob stories I love Jason Morgan not Jason Q, he was boring. I have always loved GH for the action and adventures and that has been missing.

It was definitely well overdue but the new writers had to clean up the mess that Ron made. I think Billy Miller being such a great actor – he did a great job. Now that he is able to now show how great of an actor he is. He is not Steve Burton (who is another great actor) and he took over the role he is going to make it his own.

I absolutely love how Billy Miller has taken on the role of Jason Morgan and I’m so glad the writers are paying tribute to the people that defined him. I love that Jason finally can put his whole life into perspective and take an active role in how and what he does going forward. He finally realizes how much he lost in those years and recognizes the pain that his friends and family went through without him. I can’t wait to see the emotions that Billy Miller brings when Jason finally holds Danny after all this time and he can know that Danny and Sam are where he belongs. I also love that even as Jake Doe it was Sam who had his vitals raise and he was willing to protect her regardless of bullets flying and of course the precious and immediate draw that Danny had to him was amazing. I’m so glad that for the reveal the script was given to Elizabeth Korte because she genuinely and completely understands all aspects of Jason Quatermaine / Morgan and she crafted some of the most beautiful words. Keep up the good work writers and way to go Billy Miller I love that he has explored this character and made it his own. Oh and Kelly Monaco deserves such praise on her chemistry with Billy.

I’ve really enjoyed the way it has played out. Sonny,Carly, Michael, Sam and Monica have always been the most important people in Jason’s life and that’s why he is going down that route. Sure, we would have loved the flash backs but in all reality, if they had redone those scenes instead of using SB, it would have been weird. Jason said today that the memories are still coming in so we just need to let the story play out. What’s a shame is how many people used this as a way to talk crap about Jasam fans calling them sluts and calling Sam a ho when in fact, this isn’t the time or place for that. We need better writing for all the stories if we want our beloved cast to be able to deliver stellar performances. I think the writing is slowly coming together but it’s still going to be a long road ahead.

As for the montage I dont really get the outrage on that. They brought out the best beats of each person that he talked to. I loved the moments he mentioned to Sam, Carly/Sonny/Michael – didnt watch at the time. Everything that was spoken was the history with them and how it should have been, he remembered the one time he most regretted with Monica and him calling her mom was beautiful.

As a long-time fan of GH and an avid fan of the pairing of Jason and Sam, this storyline has been a long-time coming. Billy Miller’s acting skills are finally being tapped in a wider range, and I am anxious to see how he continues to make the role his own. His chemistry with those around him is obvious, especially Kelly Monaco and Laura Wright. He has already brought to the role a more fun version of Jason who can smile more and crack a few more jokes. This past week of sharing memories has been an emotional journey and one I am glad to watch. I actually feel vindicated that he has regained most of his memories and can share them with the people most important to him. The only people to negatively comment on the reveal seems to be those who preferred him as Jake Doe, which is a travesty. I have never liked the pairing of Jason and Liz but I understand the show used all of this to continue fanning the flames of the ship wars. But it went on for too long. GH is slowly going back to its roots and good storytelling. It has always been a soap rich in history, and I feel that it is finally honoring that. Jason and Sam have truly been a great team in the past years, relying on one another’s strengths to get through whatever is thrown their way. I am excited to see what the pairing of BM and KM can pull off during their adventure this summer. I watched only haphazardly in 2015 because the writing was so bad and the storylines were frustrating. I admit that I could not continue to watch the forced pairing of Jason and Liz but could not completely shut off the show because of how long I have been a fan. I felt the same whenever the show broke up couples like Alan/Monica, Sonny/Carly who might have broken up for some fool reason. They always got back together because those pairings are magic and angst is part of the game. The same is true for Jason/Sam. Anything or anyONE who gets in their way is just angst for the purpose of storytelling. I am glad to have 2015 behind us and look forward to the future. I hope that GH continues to take the reigns off BM and let him fly because he is really a very good actor. I like how some of JQ has mixed with JM and he is closer to his Q family. Over the years, Jason had softened towards the family and I enjoy that the writers are honoring that. So a bust? ABSOLUTELY not. Not for this long-time fan!! I am going to give my FF button a break. Can’t wait to see what’s next!!

I wasn’t watching when Steve Burton was Jason so all these memories are new for me–so it was neither a bust or great from my perspective, but it did seem the actors were trying too hard to sell this notion that the real Jason is finally back. It felt contrived- after two years of not having any memories suddenly he has them all– just in time for May sweeps–please could that be any more obvious that this was a ratings stunt and not what was best for the story.

Billy Miller will never be Steve Burton’s Jason, so I don’t see how it serves the story to have the character get his memories back and put the character back into that box. Personally I think if a character has been played by same actor for more than 10 years that character should never be recast but retired. A new actor will never capture the essence of the character that made that character popular- and that is vibe I got watching this so called reunions– that neither viewers or the actors were really buying the notion the real Jason is back– he’s not.

In hindsight I prefered the hallucinations to the flashbacks because he got to see more of Jason’s thought process about those people in his life instead of just things flashing by in his mind. The follow up was pretty late (waiting three days was weird) but very sweet and loving. His scenes with his wife Sam was lowkey and nondramatic but fit the couple and a mature honest love. Both brought up their faults and forgave each other, choosing to focus on the future.
Loved Jason feeling regret over Alan and promising his mom to do better, Jarly scenes were very emotional, they have really nice chemistry. Favorite part were the Jason/Michael hug and the improvised Carly/Sam hug. Overall a very loving family reunion.

Love what Billy is doing, but there is just something missing in his scenes with everyone on canvas. Great!! Jason & Sam didn’t need to be overly emotional. I’m glad that it was done that way. It’s the little moments that grab your heart. The look in Sam, Carly and Michael’s eyes. The subtle way they emote emotion that came from a place of love. There’s no need to be overtly crazy emotional when the connection is so deep between Jason and the people he loves. Some moments only need a touch, a hug, a kiss…. Where no words are needed. It’s the quiet moments where two people can look into each other’s eyes and just feel the love that pull at your heart strings. I love BM as Jason. Jason3.0 is by far the best…. A perfect blend

I enjoyed it as a Jason fan and here’s why: As someone who was a Jason Morgan fan for years, I was heavily disappointed in his return story. Mainly because it wasn’t about him. The story could have been about more than a pairing. The creation of Jake Doe was a tragic error. The character was isolated, boring, going through the motions, getting memory flashes and then dismissing them. The story was abysmal as was the reveal. Which is why I’m happy that the writers are rectifying that. Because Jason has always lived his life on his terms and wanted the power to make his own decisions. Last year, he was manipulated, blind to what was right in front of him.

Jason’s memory return pays homage to the people who were most important to him, his wife, his friends and the woman who saved him, Robin. He’s able to finally make sense of his life and connect emotions to the memories he has. Put things into context. What didn’t make sense before now does. These are all things I enjoy seeing for one of my favorite characters who spent last year in hell.

Quite frankly, most of the people I’ve seen who didn’t like the episode either don’t like Jason period or are upset that the woman who let everyone think he was dead and wished he’d never remember wasn’t included. I’ve never liked the Jason/Elizabeth pairing primarily because she never accepted him for who he was. She didn’t love all of him. She loved parts and then ignored the parts she didn’t like. And after what she did to him last year and said, “Thank God Jason’s gone”, I couldn’t be happier that one of my faves is out of the toxic cycle Elizabeh calls love.

The only thing I would’ve added to the episode was a montage of Jason’s flashbacks/memories and the follow up should’ve been sooner and longer. But considering how long it has been dragged, I’m happy with it.

There’s a reason #JasonMorganReturns trended on Twitter. Because true Jason fans enjoyed that the era of the tragic Jake Doe failure is over.

I’m enjoying “Jason Remembers.” Granted, this should have happened a long time ago. In my opinion, this was way better than “Jason Returns” or “Jason Revealed”. We finally got our Jason back–not some amnesiac adult babysitter. The whole Lake/Liason disaster should have been avoided altogether. Didn’t GH already learn its lesson that Liason is not who a majority of the fans want? Dredging up the Liason mess was a bad decision overall—for the show, for the Jasam fans and the Liason fans. Jason’s amnesia story should only have lasted a few months at most. It dragged on way too long and some fans just gave up, but not me. I’m glad I hung in there. Jason is now with the woman he was married to and in love with when his character left in 2012. He is with the woman he was married to and in love with when his character returned in 2014. He is with the woman he fell in love with before his memories finally returned–Sam. Unfortunately, Elizabeth has been trashed for this to happen when Jason and Sam were always meant to be. Now as far as Billy Miller goes, I absolutely love him. I think he is doing a fantastic job. I’m excited to see him play Jason Morgan. Steve Burton and Billy Miller are two different people so they will not portray Jason Morgan in the same way. In sum, I’m finally excited about GH again.

And when they do, it doesn’t need to be anything big- time dramatic. If anything I’m a little concerned about his conversation with Sonny where he promised him anything. Don’t mind a friendship of sorts, just don’t want Jason to pick up the mobster thing again.

  98. Dylan says:

I say COMPLETE bust! For many reasons, and please allow me to explain. First of all, it took far too long, and made too many characters look like idiots when no one could pick up a clue that Jake might be Jason. Next, incredibly lazy sloppy writing. No one tried very hard to find out who Jake was, even though he supposedly had a wife in a neighbouring town. Also, we have been teased with this at least twice before…Jason getting yet another head trauma, and the possibility of his memories coming back, and then he just always returned to being a murderer. That has been the modus operandi through four regimes now! Enough!

As usual, from an emotional point of view, long term fans would have wanted the order in which Jason revealed he had his memories back to be opposite. Monica got a brief snippet early in the show, and of course, the big grand reveal was saved for the last minutes with Jason and Sonny. Yawn!!! So, after 20 years, the powers that be think the bromance between two middle aged murderers…strikes an emotional chord with their target audience of women age 12-49?? This whole debacle would LITERALLY make more sense if Jason and Sonny were revealed to be actually gay and in love! At least that would justify the last 20 years!

Us fans who LOATHED that Jason became a murderer got NO pay-off whatsoever!! I wanted to see Jason Quartermaine at least have a few moments of disgust and regret at the brutal cold blooded murderer he became thanks to Sonny! He WAS going to be a doctor!!! Not a contract killer!! If ALL his memories came flooding back, he would be overwhelmed, probably first thinking,”What happened to my fiancee Keisha Ward??” No, his first instincts are to wander over to Carly’s and announce that he remembers all their warm fuzzy moments.

This is just an empty, hollow, retread shell of what has been hampering GH for the past 20 years since St. Jason became the moral compass of the show. The manipulative writing leaves you with no other option than to root for narcissistic murderers! There is ZERO beyond zero chemistry between Kelly Monaco and Billy Miller. They look at each other as strangers, because they are!!! I don’t know when or how or why Sam and Jason became this vision of the perfect love story. A few years before Jason supposedly died, him and Sam were such bitter enemies that he threatened to murder her!! Nice pillow talk, hey Sam? Well, Sam inherited her I LOVE MOBSTER gene from her mother, so she isn’t entirely at fault.

It is just reverting to the same old same old, Jason Carly and Sonny show, and we are just tired of it. If the real Jason remembered EVERYTHING, he would have ran away from a ho like Carly in his cardigan sweater. I’m sure Jason might be a little pissed that Sonny MURDERED HIS BROTHER in cold blood! They’re not playing any emotional or story beats that need to be played. Again, NO emotional core…TOTAL BUST!!

I know GH history very well and that includes actors also.So my credentials to critique are intact. For such a long post you really did not say much but to showcase your lack of knowledge of a soap you are bashing.#1 Sam and Jason have the it factor when it comes to a super couple with both Burton and Miller in the Jason role. They have the chemistry of two people in love and their eyes search each other out just as their hearts do.Strangers nah.#2 as a couple and standing alone they have overcome any and all tragedy. Still a current couple that has graced Times Square Twice.#3Their sons birth (Danny) trended world wide. They have appeared on numerous magazine covers & in every soap related article out there. They were and still are considered the “Hottest couple in Daytime”#4Both Miller & Burton are Emmy winners.Monaco has been nominated. Any intelligent network, producer, writer, etc should be aware where their ratings come from for all soap fans know the bottom line.GH has a large cast but a talented one.Verdict is pending on newer cast members.Have there been missed emotional beats in story lines yes, should the writers know show&character history absolutely. Was Jasons memory return a bust NO and the main reason it was not is because it was done Jason Morgans way as he is not flashy, overly emotional, a man of many words.Thank you GH for staying true to the Jason Quartermaine Morgan character I have watched since his debut

I loved it. Considering they couldn’t use flashbacks, the memories he spoke of to Sam immediately brought the images up to JaSam fans. I knew exactly what year they were referencing and the story behind the memory. The scenes with Carly were amazing and both BM and LW did a great job. The scenes with Monica were good, though it was weird for him to call her mom and the Michael scenes were touching. In regards to Sonny I like how he referenced the night he left Sam & Danny and admitted that he couldn’t do that to them or himself again, finally get out of the mob for the one and only woman who totally accepted him as he was and never asked him to change for her, and he chose her and his love her and Danny to leave. I know this story hasn’t played out yet, since he admitted that the memories are still coming, but I look forward to seeing what comes, especially his scenes with Franco and all those who kept him away from Sam & Danny. I feel that BM is bringing his own mark on this character and I think he’s doing a good job with a character that will now be a different version, what with being “dead” and having amnesia for 1-1/2 years.

I’m a longtime Jason fan and I’ve been disappointed in this story. This story should have been epic. Billy Miller is one of my favorite actors and should be given material he can sink his teeth into and this isn’t it. The show waited too long, for one thing. Jason should have gotten his memories back when he still thought he was Jake Doe. There would have been more impact for him with a flood of memories. Besides, I wanted to see Jason remember everything, and I mean everything, back to being Jason Quartermaine. The impact of that would have been amazing and truly epic. I don’t want to see Jason pushed back into a position where he’s going to be a mob minion again for Sonny. Jason should be highly conflicted and emotional about it, more than he is. The mob was the very thing that kept him from being a parent to Jake all those years. He sold his life away. His life was never his own. Two of his very first responses to getting his memory back should have been spending time with both his biological sons, as someone said above. I’ve lost patience with Jason being second in his own life to Sonny, Carly and Sam. That’s the way these memories have played out so far. I don’t want to see that all over again. Also, as a longtime Jason fan I want to see his history of friendship and love with Elizabeth honored. Jason has a history with Elizabeth going back to 1999. She should have been one of the first people he went to. I do like the stuff with Monica and Michael. I want to see him with Elizabeth, Ned, and Robin. I wish I could see him with Emily, Alan, and AJ. I’d love to see him remember Keisha with Jason Quartermaine memories. Jason should be having a flood of memories of all the things he did as a mobster as well, with intense self-conflict. Everyone was giving him the soft version of Jason Morgan and acting like he’s perfect. He’s not perfect. He’s a complex, flawed character and I like seeing him written that way. The potential is so great to be a great story. Billy Miller deserves meaty material and so far it’s not meaty at all. Granted, the story is still going, but I’m frustrated. It should be fresh and new and Jason just going back to his life before is not interesting, not dramatic, and not entertaining.

Awesome post Jen! Like, seriously, of all the memories Jason would have of Carly, it’s little warm fuzzy ones???!! What? Every other day, Carly was barging into Jason’s home, screaming and yelling that she needed him to murder someone, or break in somewhere, or do some other illegal activity. Her stupid decisions and choices have gotten Jason shot, stabbed, beaten up, arrested, etc. I never saw this amazing friendship that Carly and the past four writing regimes saw. It was completely one sided. Carly NEVER did anything for Jason, unless it was to help him clean up one of her messes. More often than not, Jason looked annoyed or frustrated with her.

These writers are not thinking outside the box at all!! They are spoon feeding viewers the same paint by numbers crap that they have for the past 20 years with this character and this story. There are three ways to go with this story….and only one is acceptable to me, and the show will NOT go there…that has been proven time and again! it would be:

    1) Jason is absolutely horrified that he became an unrepentant murder. He cuts all ties with anyone or anything connected with the mob lifestlye, and goes back to being a Quartermaine, or doctor, or whatever. He stays completely out of and away from the mob lifestyle, and does everything he can to make amends for all his crimes and murders.

At the other end of the spectrum, and where they appear to be going is:

    2) Jason goes back to the mob and Sonny and Carly, and until the show’s imminent cancellation, it becomes the Jason, Sonny, Carly show yet again!!

Equally as disturbing would be the middle of the road approach, trying to please both fan bases:

    3) Jason resumes relationships with the Quartermaines, but also his “friendships” with Sonny and Carly. Jason will not want to be in the mob, but every so often, like every sweeps period, he will get drawn in somehow, and have to kill someone, or save the day. Because on this show, called GENERAL HOSPITAL…we all know that there is NO type of drama to be mined other than mob drama. This would be possibly the most offensive, because like you said, Jen, Jason would just be an afterthought in his own life.

Instead of seeing rainbows and unicorns and lollipops dancing around Carly’s head, Jason would first of all be justifiably angry!! He should be RAGING at Sonny!!!!!!!!!! If I was writing the show, never mind happy huggy reunions around town!! if I wrote it, Jason would be screaming “You took a brain damaged 21 year old confused kid, and you turned him into a vicious, unrepentant murderer!! The warped sense of logic in your world is astonishing!! You hung my brother on a meathook and kidnapped his son, and I was a party to this!!! My God, I am sickened with myself! And you murdered my brother! In cold blood! And you stand here before me expecting us to have some sort of a grand reunion as best friends?!?!? I pray to God that I can have some sort of life that doesn’t involve you, or Carly, or your lifestyle in ANY way!! I don’t want any part of you. Stay away from me, and stay away from my family!”

And that would just be the beginning!! As it is, the show is just treading water, afraid of making any permanent ripples. There was never any friendship from Sonny towards Jason!! Sonny turned him into his contract killer…naturally he then has to protect him at all costs!! If Sonny had never hired him as a murderer, he would have had no need to protect him, and therefore they would have had no relationship at all. Jason was just a trained lapdog for whatever illegal activity Sonny and Carly needed him to perform next.

It is very telling that Carly and Sonny recoil in horror at the thought of Jason remembering his Quartermaine life. What use would the true Jason Quartermaine have had for a greasy mobster strip club owner like Sonny who turned his girlfriend into a stripper and pill addict, and was responsible directly or indirectly in the deaths of most of Jason’s family? And what use would cardigan sweater wearing Jason have for a slutty clingy town pump like Carly??

If the writers want to get REAL, there is a lot of REAL to write here! This is the story of a man who LOST over 20 years of his life because he crossed paths with career criminals who took advantage of his diminished brain capacity, brainwashed him against his real family and friends, and turned him into a vicious murderer. That is not a Hallmark reunion here between besties!! I puked a little when Sam and Carly were hugging in the living room alongside Jason and Michael. It was jarring, it was out of place, out of character, and completely absurd!!

Billy Miller is an actor who can really bring it, but thanks to the writing, he just hasn’t yet. He looks bored all the time. Because he lacks the imposing physical presence of Steve Burton, and looks considerably younger, he appears more like a contemporary of Michael’s, not the 40 and 50 something Carly, Sam, Sonny set. I said from the start that an actor with that type of effervescent natural charm should have been brought on as a recast Lucky, not as a brain damaged murderer. The chemistry between Miller and Rebecca Herbst was palpable, unlike the Monaco/Miller scenes, which are completely devoid of any spark or life.

And I want to see an Emmy reel of Miller’s for next year! It would be my fantasy Emmy reel for him. It would be a scene where Jason is alone in the Quartermaine house, and memories and thoughts from all his lives are just crashing around in his head, and he is so overwhelmed he just starts crying. He would say things like “I was going to be a doctor. I was going to help people, I was going to save people. Instead, I murdered people. Countless people!” He would break down and sob in anguish and utter disgust!!

He would see pictures of his deceased family…Alan, A.J. Emily, etc and bow his head in shame and grief at the part he played in each of their deaths. His final words in the soliloquy/monologue would be :

I can’t make any of this right, all I can do is start living again from this moment! And from this moment, Jason Morgan no longer exists! I am Jason Quartermaine, and I am finally home where I belong!

Memo to the writers and execs: Read a message board! Not one from 1999, when fans seemed to actually like the Jason and sonny hour! When Steve Burton’s acting ability was growing nicely along with his biceps, and Sonny was still somewhat redeemable, it was still viable. But 20 years later, it is repetitive, tiresome, unimaginative, and actually disgusting.

Through at least 4 regimes, no headwriters can come up with ANYTHING fresh for these characters and these actors. It is sad. I have loved Laura Wright since she was a young girl on Loving. She is just a luminous performer who lights up a room. If she did not play Carly, I would have the show on mute, because the other Carly’s, to me, were like nails on chalkboards!! And Maurice, nothing against him, I just never got his great appeal. He is a passable actor, but I just can’t root for murderers, real or fictional. I never liked the character of Sonny, but he took such dark, disturbing, disgusting twisted turns during Carlivati’s reign, that you can’t go back from that.

I guess I have ranted enough. Please reply with lots of fun stuff!

I would love to see Jason get his Quartermaine memories. Seriously, it’s what I was hoping for in this go-round. The material would be amazing for Billy Miller. I want Jason to be angry about what he lost and how he was pulled from his Quartermaine family. It’s what I had always hoped for when SB was playing Jason and I hoped for it again.

Although there have been times when I enjoyed the Sonny and Jason friendship, the relationship waned for me when I realized it would always be about Sonny. The same regarding Jason’s relationship with Carly. I love Laura Wright, so I enjoy her Carly, but overall the Jason/Carly relationship is always about Carly and I don’t enjoy it. (I prefer Carly when she’s a bit away from Jason and Sonny, frankly.) Jason’s life was never his own, and from what I’ve gotten from the past few episodes and the reactions from the characters Jason has told so far it won’t be again. It’s just no fun and gives him zero development. I wish Emily, Alan and AJ were still around. Those relationships would make for great scenes.

A bust. Fell flat. Wasn’t feeling it. The only one that was feeling it was Carly apparently … Laura Wright always plays every scene to the hilt.
Idk… I like Billy Miller and I think he has chemistry with Kelly but he looks bored most the time and there was more emotion in his hallucination then the actual scene he was telling her.
I actually loved Sam & Patrick and wish GH would have given them a big story so Jason wouldn’t have left. Thought they had more emotional chemistry together.

I absolutely loved it! Why wouldn’t Jason want to tell those closest to him! Carly Sam and Sonny were all the last ones to see him that night he got shot! Sonny talked to him in the hospital encouraging him to fight for Sam and Danny to go home with him and be a family regardless of Danny’s DNA same thing with Carly she told him the min he held Danny that he would love him as his own and that he wouldn’t see Franco!!! And that’s when Jason asked Sam to be a family again! I 100% loved that I love he went to those same exact people to tell them! Even Monica she always understood him she came around on her own terms and she had a right to know too! Michael being that he raised him of course he would tell him as well and that’s also his nephew!! Now I completely understand why he didn’t run and tell Liz! It goes back to when he was searching for Danny she lied about the DNA testing leading him to believe Sam’s baby was dead and now that he knows that biology Danny is his son she made him believe it too! Then her telling Jason that Sam was with John so he would divorce her he now sees for him self the lengths Liz would go to make him hers! Jason remembers his past and now the last two years so now he gets to see what everyone has been saying about Liz and that’s that she can’t be trusted! Just wait til he finds out she knew about Hayden’s shooting and didn’t say anything just so that his true identity wouldn’t come out! To him Liz has not only hurt him but those he loves the most!!! So with that said Great Job GH thank you for bringing his memories back and thank you for including those to mean the world to him!!! Great Job continue the great work.

I didn’t read everyone else’s comments until now. There saying that everyone else had emotions when they realized that Jason remembered his past..Well what about when Jason was telling Sam’s ghost how much she meant to him,he was full of emotion then. How he almost cried when he realized that he didn’t show love to his parents..and apologized to Monica and also called her mom.But have you all forgotten that Jason is called “Stone Cold” for a reason! Cause he shows no emotions. You know he is not thru letting people know about his memories. He still has Elizabeth,Nickolas and let’s not forget Spinelli! I have been watching this show since 1971. I think they did a great job, since they had to end some of the storylines to bring in the new ones..All I can say is try not to complain to much..ABC has already axed our night time drama. General Hospital is the only daytime drama left, and if you love it as much as I do,then stop the complaining!!!

He was able to finally connect with sam Carly sonny and Michael on a different level with having his memories back and over time I think these relationships will continue to grow and in a way become familiar with how they were before.

I really enjoyed it! I was so concerned that the new writers would leave out Jason’s history with Sam, and with the Quartermaine’s and Carly, Sonny and Michael. Jason is such a rich character to me, with so much history in the Port Charles world. I would have liked to have seen more with he and Monica. Because before he left in 2012 he and Monica had developed a wonderful connection over the years. Most of it being here accepting him as who he was and enjoying whatever type of relationship that they developed. I love Jason and Sam together, the love they share. The writers really have been doing a good job with this to me. Most people don’t like the character Sam, they prefer liz but I am Sam and Jason all they way. Liz and Jason never really had any screen time, they relationship never lasted and if people would really look at Liz didn’t want who or what Jason was. She is just as bad as all the other women on GH if not worst. The fans need to keep looking at “Liz” like she is this paragon of virtue. She came on as a slut. Slept with her sisters boyfriend, lucky was dating her sister first! Yada yada yada. We all know what she did, so how is her character any better than Sam. I think the reality of all of this is not the characters but the real people. Kelly Monaco and Rebeca Herbst. Kelly took risky pictures, posed for playboy and all of that. I think most of the women audience are judging Kelly. She’s beautiful, and she is probably every (married, or not) women’s nightmare. She’s what men look at, what men lust after, she’s gorgeous. But she appears to be kind, and sweet. And no, before you goofies ask, I do not know her personally, just like you guys don’t know Rebecca Herbst personally! Everyone hates on Kelly because of who she is. She owns it. She’s beautiful and talented! So, you guys can keep voting for Liz, but JASAM is it. Sam is the love of his life, always. When she landed in port charles anything Liz though she had with Jason was over. He only went with Liz when he and Sam were having problems. He and sam stayed together longer. They had a real relationship with time vested. Jason has always felt sorry for Liz. Yeah, let me say it for y’all, he threaten to kill Sam, Sam watch Jake get kidnapped, give it a break. Liz, carly and sam were all equally whores on the show, Jason just fell madly in love with sam and not them. Jason and Liz have no history. They just have known each other a long time because Liz has been on the show longer. Love what the writers are doing with the Jason’s memory storyline. Keep it up guys. Loving it. Liasoners, lets root for Liz a new man, lets say Griffin he can help her regain her redeeming qualities.

Just a correction. Elizabeth never slept with Lucky at the point in time you mention. And she did not come on as a slut…she came on as a rebellious teen who was brutally raped n a park bush about 6 months later. That was her first sexual encounter. Lucky never formally dated or slept with Sarah, and neither did Liz sleep with Lucky until MUCH later!! These characters were like 16 years old!! Liz has never been a paragon of virtue, nor has she claimed to be one. On the other hand, brain dead mob molls like Sam who get turned on by their murderer boyfriend threatening to kill them every so often…now there’s true love!!

Liz never said she was a paragon of virtue, never said she did! But her fans she has said that she was or thought she was. Who said Jason threatening sam was a turn on. Could be though. One thing for sure is that he obviously didn’t mean it. It was an empty threat maybe? Either way. Maybe if Jason had threaten to kill liz he would still be with her, LOL!!!! and Liz was a slut, people like you keep trying to put a halo on her! Ain’t gonna happen hun! Won’t fit. she still went after HER SISTERS BOYFRIEND! Lucky liked sarah a lot and liz interfered. Sam was not a mob moll, Sonny just fell for her during his problems with Carly. And as far as brain dead, Liz is about as brain dead as they come hun!!!! do you even pay attention to this girl? That’s why they commited her to shady brook! because she’s a nurse that makes her better than sam? LOL!!!!!!! It’s all good girl. I love Liz, I mean Becky Herbst. Damn good actress. She makes looking like a dumb damsel in distress looks royal! Jasam IS true love, soulmates. Always have been, no matter what the circumstances are. They lasted. Maybe not forever but in soap years it is. Lets root for Liz a love of HER OWN okay? LOL!!!

21 yrs of memory all at once would be devastating to anyone much less Jason Morgan who has accumulated more in those 21 yrs than some get in a full lifetime. So what if the writers choose certain ones,we all have our favorites and not everyone will be pleased at first but more memories are coming, good grief in soap time it is still the first 24 hrs.I for one can not wait for the reveal continuation.I feel GH for once went in the right direction with this story line.Jason died wanting a life with Sam/Danny,now he has it.Most wanted him out of the mob but remain close to Sonny/Carly,now they have it.Michael has his uncle Jason back which the majority of fans wanted. He is forming relationships with the Qs especially his mom.I do agree he needs to remember more and just because Liz was not a recovered memory yet does not mean she will not be soon.Emotion from Billy Miller has been subtle but it is there. You need to watch and listen carefully as all is not always obvious at first.Billy is so talented and can take Jason Morgan in so many directions. The writing definitely needs to be worthy of him and the other actors for GH has golden talent.Jasam will be on fire just as before and full of intensity and spark. So Jasons memory tour is still on the road so jump on the bus and enjoy the ride for it is pure perfection.

I guess I’m just not a huge Jason fan though I’ve liked him off and on over the 10 yrs I’ve sporadically watched GH. IMO SBu and BM can’t be compared cause they come to a role differently. BM always brings a little snark to his roles-not sure if he is the best choice for JM.

I don’t care if he is back with Sam mainly because it had to happen. However, having gone back and watched those scenes (weird memories choices BTW) after reading what was written here I have to say it was not all that interesting. BM played the scenes as if he was drugged-just said his lines. I guess I was expecting some emotion from him but it didn’t play that way on screen- the word I think best describes his delivery is monotone. The others seemed emotional- he was just meh I’m back. The scenes with Michael were best.

Maybe it will get better for GH fans over the rest of sweeps but for me based on the one show this week I have to vote bust–for now. Maybe you should revisit this in another month.

It wasn’t the marvel I was looking for. His memories should have hit him like a tidal wave. Rushing back with images of his family and pieces of their conversation.: things Edward said to him when he was younger, something Alan said before the big car accident, something from Emily, A.J and Monica. This could have been much bigger than it was. I’ve been very pleased with the direction the show has been going. Not this tidbit. It lacked emotions. He and Monica didn’t even hug when he told her his memory was back. Not even a stroll through the mansion with visits from Alan, Lila and A.J. Why not? He’s seeing everyone else who’s not there. Just saying………..

I’ve been wanting this for years and years: that huge wave of memories from all of his life, images and conversations when the memories were first coming back to him. It’s what I expected this time around. This should have been epic, with Edward, Alan, Emily, Monica, AJ, Lila, Robin, Elizabeth, Keisha, etc.

It depends on where he goes from here, for me. If it’s back to Mob Central, then for me it’s a bust. If it’s something new, then I might like it. I would love to see Jason remember murdering people for Sonny and having some inner conflict about it. I’d love for him to explore his Quartermaine roots and go from there.

However, it looks like the emotional tug we’re supposed to get from it is that Carly and Sonny are the good guys and we’re supposed to be happy that he has found them again.

Sorry, Sonny is a twelve year old in a man’s body who has never developed beyond “you are dead to me” and Carly will always be a bully who never learns from her mistakes.

It blows my mind that Frank V. and the writer want us to buy this crap.

Total boring bust of a storyline. Jason and Sam is very boring. I only wish I could fast-forward their scenes while watching when it airs or while watching previously aired episodes On-Demand. Boring. Boring. Boring.

I’m a big huge longtime Jason Morgan & BM fan and am trying really hard to be fair & balanced about what I’m watching on screen. However that being said I feel GH totally dropped the ball on this whole JM memory-back storyline. I found the entire reveal from the crash to the loved-ones tour a huge letdown. Geeze you could take it all the way back to Carly telling Jake he’s Jason. What should have been highly emotional given the time & toll it’s taken on Jason & his loved ones, mostly felt like just another day in PC. Having watched GH since college, I have watched some emotional & heart-tugging scenes. There was nothing heart-tugging about Jason & his so called memory-tour. The emotions came from Carly/LW and rightly so. But I got zero impact from Jason. Zero. Not even the subtle nuances BM is known for. Even the Jason/Sam scenes were a letdown w/Sam doing all of the heavy lifting & Jason just ehh. Not sure what the writers and actors choices are going for, but it’s a whole lot disappointment. And for those waiting for BM to play JM, he is right now, his own version and unfortunatley it’s not working on so many levels. jmo

Emotional-heart-tugger??? No. New-Jason emoting I guess is long gone. C/S/S/M/M, yeah I saw a little. But what should have been a huge explosion of emotions across the canvas from everyone who finally got their Jason back, was really just a sputter of repeat speeches. Thud. The entire JM’s back and memory reveal has been an complete failure at every turn. It’s a shame because GH has all the right tools/actor to make this a great story, but totally misses each emotional beat. How can you screw up the return of the awesome character of Jason Morgan?? Seriously, it writes itself. I don’t get it at all. I agree w/ those who say the JM reveal is a reflection of all that is wrong at GH right now.

I loved it. I love how he fell in love with Sam all over again before he even remembered who Jason Morgan was. I love GH history. It has always been about the most compelling characters on the show. Always. Just like luke and laura. Monica, Rick and Leslie and Alan. It has always, just like now, who bring in the ratings. I love the mob stuff. To me it has always me GH seem like a prime time show instead of a soap opera. I thought that they could have did Jason with a little more emotion. But as far as Jason and Liz and doing things with them, or him going to her first. Jason and Liz’s story was never that great at all. They never lasted. When Jason lost his memory as Jason Quartermaine that was it. And I really like it like that. I like the way he remembered and re-established his relationships with the Quartermaines as JASON MORGAN. Brilliant writing to me. I have been watching GH for a long time, since before the luke and laura saga. The history is rich and real. It may be weak in some places some times. But there is a fantasy going on about Jason and Liz and this big love they were suppose to have, and long history. Liz was emily’s bestfriend so of course she knew Jason longer than Sam or Carly, even tho she slept with and had a baby with emily’s ex- boyfriend. But as far as Liz and Jason they only dated sporadically here and there. that;s it. I thought Jason could have shown more emotions with monica. But for the most part it was great.

the thing that’s glaringly obvious…. is

YES… Steve Burton and Rebecca Herbst characters… at that time…

did not have chemistry ? and he had it in spades… with… Kelly Monaco

    THIS TIME AROUND

it’s the opposite… Billy Miller and Rebecca Herbst have that NEW … it factor… of a burgeoning blossoming ROMANCE …. – and – LOVE ; all over again. YIKE

so… i’m not going to debate this any longer… my Liz.. is going to move … all the time… her chemistry with the whole cast; is immeasurable .

    gotta love that

whew! Rebecca Herbst is not dependent on any one… she’s her own solid act

Carly Sonny Jason and Sam…. dull all around

Bless your heart hun? Rebecca Herbst is not the only talented actress, and I mean ACTRESS, on GH. All the women are beautiful. Sam to me, my opinion dear, looks great as well. I may be incline to believe that Billy and Becky look good together, they do. But its just unfortunate that the story favors Sam right now. And for some reason, to me that is, Billy and Kelly are started to develop chemistry. And if it weren’t for Carly, Sonny, Jason, Luke, and Sam, there would be no GH. This is obvious. To just about everyone. That’s why they had to bring Jason back, The show was dying.
And, I’m glad your not going to debate it any longer, because really, enough said.

Jason shouldn’t tell Liz at all due to the fact that she didn’t even want him to remember. She tried to suppress his memories so she doesn’t deserve to be a part of his close circle. He told the ones that were important to him.

Let’s not forget Liz told Carly she was glad Jason was gone.

Jason has regain his memories, it’s not as easy as it seems, he not that same person, he is in the middle, he is like a child taking baby steps, he will never be that killing machine again(unless provoke)he has feelings, he can feel remorse, he can feel love for his wife his children. In the end he will be Jason with a mix, of Morgan/Quartermaine. I believe he will want revenge, on the people who kidnapped, him, Cassadines and Julian even Little Ms Liz Misery, they kept him away from Sam and Danny, He was alone, and dealt with it.

Total bust , epic fail , who is Billy Miller “supposed” to be? He looks as confused as the rest of us. Wouldn’t be surprised if he opts out after 2 years, This was bad bad casting, and Kelly Monaco isn’t much better,

OK…you know what…when Billy Miller first took over the role of Jason Morgan from that Steve Burton dude, I was S-O SUPER STOKED!!!!! I mean…I thought that, maybe, just maybe, Miller would (1) infuse the character of Jason with a much-needed sense of humor and (2) would add W-A-Y MORE DIMENSION to Jason…2 things that Burton (IMO) never did as Jason. Sorry…but, I don’t see anything new, anything intriguing or anything exciting happening there. N-o-p-e. So, you know what…my patience with the character of Jason Morgan has clearly run out. I A-M D-O-N-E!!!!! A-D-I-O-S!!!!!!
