November Sweeps on General Hospital has been filled with emotional storylines and emotionally-charged performances. That continued on Wednesday’s episode of the ABC daytime drama series in several instances. First, fan favorite Ingo Rademacher returned as Jax. This time Jax is back in Port Charles to be there for Carly (Laura Wright) as she prepares to say goodbye to Morgan at this upcoming funeral.
In tender scenes played to perfection by Ingo and Laura Wright, Jax and Carly talk about the times when Jax was Morgan’s “dad” and how much he loved him like his own, son. Carly is still guilt-ridden over the choices in her life, chief among them allowing Sonny back into it, and whose life in the mob she believes ultimately killed Morgan. Nelle (Chloe Lanier) walks in on a comforting hug between two exes and seems to misinterpret what she sees! What will she do with what she thinks she “saw”?
Sonny (Maurice Benard) talks with Griffin (Matt Cohen) inside the church. It is apparent that something very heavy is happening inside the heart and mind of Sonny. With tears in his eyes, he tells Griffin that Duke would have been proud of him and that after Morgan’s funeral to please look after his family. What will happen to Sonny? Maurice Benard once again showed us Sonny’s sadness and guilt without overplaying it.
Then there is the incomparable Genie Francis (Laura)! In scenes between Laura and Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn), she learns that according to the second set of documents, Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) is the oldest living heir and owner of Wyndemere. A downtrodden Laura breaks down in front of Alexis. She realizes Nikolas’ could have died in vain. Inconsolable, she heads back to Wyndemere preparing to move out. When she gets there, Hayden (Rebecca Budig) shows up after being contaminated with the same mysterious illness as Finn (Michael Easton) has. Laura leaves Hayden alone, and then Hayden passes out on the floor.
And as expected, Alexis is questioning if she has a drinking problem, especially after passing out drunk and endangering the life of her grandson, and Valentin and Nina (Michelle Stafford) reconnect, especially when she learns he is the supposed baby-daddy to young Charlotte. Is Charlotte the answer to Nina’s prayers to raise a child?
