Courtesy/E!

On tonight’s episode of E! Entertainment Television’s pop-culture television clip comedy series, The Soup with host Joel McHale, General Hospital got a significant mention and a hilarious clip segment centering around the story of Pickle-Lila!

McHale opened the clip by saying while other soaps have been canceled, General Hospital has lived on relating, “Somehow ‘Gen Hos’ has found a way to live on, and if I had to guess it’s because of its spellbinding and all too relatable storylines … like this one!”

In the segment called, “Relishing The Moment”, The Soup poked some fun with a recent episode of GH, about Tracy’s scheme to resurrect ELQ with Pickle- Lila!  Watch after the jump, how The Soup edited together clips about the one of a kind condiment featuring: Jane Elliot (Tracy), Tony Geary (Luke), Sean Kanan (AJ), Kelly Sullivan (Kate/Connie), Kristen Alderson (Starr), and Ian Buchanan (Duke)!   Then, let us know what you thought of it? We had a good laugh that is for sure!

I love the Soup, and love Joel McHale and this is great that GH got on there. Though I’m scared, what is this about relish and why is everyone talking about it so much? lol

I’m also glad to hear Joel mention Guiding Light, just saying the name. Miss it!

Back in the late 80‘s or early 90‘s, ELQ was bankrupt and the Quartermaine‘s had to live at Kelly‘s. Lila made this relish called Pickle Lila and it was so good it saved the company. A very wacky story…presumably ELQ is a diverse company with MANY industries and businesses…but it must be darn good relish. Lol.

Years ago, the Quartermaine family lost ELQ and had to move into Kelly’s Diner. While there, Lila Quartermaine started making relish. She started selling it and that’s how the Quartermaine family got back on their feet and got ELQ back. Fast forward to now, after Edward died, he left Tracy a jar of the relish as a message. ELQ went under again (long story) and she and AJ are trying to repeat history with the Pickle-Lila Relish.

Okay, thanks ashlee and justin. I had no idea what was going on here. I thought it was going to be a silly storyline like OLTL had with that stuffed beaver lol. I knew who Lila was, at least now she’s getting mention again.

No, it isn’t indeed. My favorite was the Soup’s “Clip of the Week” that showed the outdoor “action” scene during the tainted water storyline. Also, B&B is heavily featured on The Soup….”Riiiiiiiiick!!!!”

Soup & Soaps a great combo!

In fact, The Soup used to have a whole segment devoted to soaps called “My Stories”. All of the daytime soaps got great send-ups! Oh, how I miss those days :(

Omgosh, that was so HILARIOUS! GH could not have done it better. They should ask for a copy of that clip!

I’m not sure I get it. The scenes they used were so chopped up that it was obvious they were just trying to poke fun.

I guess the storyline would seem silly to non-watchers, but actually, it’s rooted in the show’s history. It also show’s someone’s entrepreneurial
    spirit.

I have a huge sense of humor, but I just think they weren’t giving a full representation of what the story actually is.

    Glad for the mention though.

That was so stupid and I’m so glad The Soup picked that up to mock it’s ridiculousness. The most I’ve watched of GH in months but it was worth it because I laughed so hard!

Jane Elliot……is this what this show has reduced you to????

But that’s my gripe with this…….what they showed is not at all what the storyline is about. It’s a very good storyline deeply rooted in the shows history. They took little snipets of the scenes and made it look ridiculous.

lighten up you two, ijt was a fun light hearted homage to GH and its comeback, sure its silly, its supposed to be, The Q”S have always been GH comedy troop, they are suppose to make us laugh, thats the legacy of the Q family.

I get it aria. I just always have in mind the non-soap viewing audience that think we’re idiots, but you’re right it was light-hearted.

What is it they say,who cares what you say as long as you say it,and spell ny name right. The soup mentioned GH This is not the first time. Myself I just hope the relish brings AJ and Tracy together to help ELQ .

For non-Soup watchers…people in the entertainment industry are “flattered” when they are featured on The Soup. I know it’s not for everyone, but consider it a compliment. It would be great if for the big GH 5-0 some of the cast appeared on The Soup. That would be quite an honor.

Never heard of The Soup. Not familiar with this show at all. I like watching Tracy on Gh each day but, I found this clip not that funny.

This is great! Not only did other soaps get a mention but it shows the talent of Ms. Jane Elliot (gotta love this woman’s acting chops). However someone needs to send a clip of the toxic ball shows ;) Another LMAO term/scene’s. I even heard the actors were having fun with it. Thank you E! for all the great soap mentions and clips!
