On Wednesday’s episode of ABC’s General Hospital, Spencer (Nicolas Bechtel) is rushed to the emergency room of GH after suffering severe burns and smoke inhalation, after the fire that broke out at his birthday party at Wyndemere!
Nikolas (Tyler Christopher) is by his son’s side when he is wheeled in, but Lucas (Ryan Carnes) takes over and attempts to stabilize Spencer and tend to his burns. Emma (Brooklyn Rae Silzer) tries to comfort a distraught Nikolas, but he calls the one Cassadine he can … Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and tells her he needs her urgently! Immediately, Alexis leaves her evening with Julian (William deVry) and rushes to GH to comfort Nikolas, who is beside himself with grief over what happened at the party to Spencer.
Later, viewers see Patrick (Jason Thompson) and Lucas working on saving Spencer, who is now breathing via a ventilator. Patrick comes out and tells Nikolas and Alexis that Spencer has suffered severe burns on his right side and they have to be careful of organ failure, and an infection that could cause septic shock. Nikolas tells Patrick he needs to get in to the room and see Spencer. When he does, Nikolas is devastated to see his son, whom he loves so much in such horrific condition.
The episode really gave a showcase to the talents of Tyler Christopher, who has been getting the opportunity of late to show the many colors of the dark prince. Tyler was heartbreaking throughout in his scenes.
Now the big questions loom: Will Spencer make it out of this alive? If so, will he be forever changed? If Spencer were to die, would this alter the course of Nikolas to an even darker character with nothing to live for … or, will this experience of almost losing his son, bring more of the good side of Nikolas back to the forefront? And, let’s not forget he is holding the secret that “Jake” is actually Jason! Share your thoughts on today’s scenes, and if you think Spencer will survive?
