139 November 1st, 2014 GENERAL HOSPITAL: Nina’s Plot To Take Ava’s Baby Reveals Itself! Franco To Carly: “Why Would I Marry A Lying Cheating Whore?”

Courtesy/ABC

Friday’s Halloween day episode of General Hospital was one for the record books, in that so much went on, so much was revealed, and so many viewers wrote us that they had to re-watch it again to make sure they caught all the action and had the information straight!

November Sweeps is definitely here,  and weeks and months of laying the groundwork for these pivotal plotpoints has now come to it crucial moments.  Next week on GH is not to be missed after what just went down!

Let’s begin:  In the twisted and disturbing plot of Nina Clay (Michelle Stafford), she is finally well on her way to taking Ava’s (Ava Jerome) baby from her, literally! With the help of Mom Madeline (Donna Mills), Silas (Michael Easton) gets called to the hospital after Sam (Kelly Monaco) has an emotional meltdown thinking Danny’s leukemia is back.  As viewers know, Madeline posing as a doctor got Danny’s files from Brad (Parry Shen).  The the faux-doctor, doctored the report inside the young boys medical records.  This left Silas leaving Ava alone, and the timing for Nina to enter the brownstone to exact her revenge on Ava,which begins with Nina putting Ava on notice of what is about to transpire by exclaiming, “Buckle up, bitch!”  First, Nina gives Ava a huge syringe of a paralyzing drug to her enemy, so she can’t move! Then, as we go to the end of an episode, Nina has a second syringe filled with the drug to induce labor and to take Ava’s baby!  It was harrowing drama played to perfection by Emmy winners, Maura West and Michelle Stafford!  West acting with only her eyes as her body is lifeless was sensational, and Stafford becoming unglued was the perfect counterpart of one of the most highly-anticipated showdowns in recent soap opera memory.

Elsewhere, Franco (Roger Howarth) and Carly (Laura Wright) are finally having their nuptials! But not before Carly learned from Spencer (Nicolas Bechtel) that Franco had lied to her in regards to him trying to hack into her email account to get his hands on the tape which implicates Sonny for the murder of AJ Quartermaine.

After Franco apologizes, and offers his jealousy and paranoia as an excuse, Carly still agrees to begin their wedding ceremony.  Carly’s daughter, Josslyn (Hannah Nordberg) was hilarious throwing rose petals in disgust as she had made it very clearly she cannot stand Franco!  With Lucy (Lynn Herring) presiding over the ceremony as Carly thinks of Sonny, she still says her “I do” to Franco!  However, when it’s Franco’s turn, he shocks Carly by saying he will not marry her … and then adds: “Why would I marry a lying cheating whore?”

Additionally, Morgan (Bryan Craig) learned that Ava killed Connie, and that Sonny did indeed kill AJ.  Morgan and Sonny have a come to Jesus moment, and Morgan helps his dad by letting him know exactly where Ava is – at the brownstone! Meanwhile, Anna (Finola Hughes) and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) now believe that Sonny killed AJ!  It is devastating for both of them to realize for different reasons: Anna suspects Duke (Ian Buchanan) covered for Sonny, and Dante realized his dad killed a man!

So many reveals! So much put in motion! What did you think of the Nina and Ava scenes? Carly and Franco’s wedding? Morgan finding out Ava killed Connie?  And what will happen when Michael (Chad Duell) learns the truth?  Share your comments on Friday’s GH below!

Must see TV. Scandal has nothing on GH. Just fabulous. I can’t tell who is better, Maura as Ava or Michelle as crazy Nina. The wedding from hell is great as well. Well done Frank and Ron. With so much going on, what is happening next week?

I thought being at the Haunted Star and on Halloween, the wedding wouldve had more of a Halloween them with the cast dressed in costume: Franco as The Francostein Monster and Carly as the Bride, Lucy dressed as Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Lucas, Brad and Felix as The Golden Girls, Micheal and Kiki as Dumb and Dumber, Bobbi as a plastic Barbie Doll, Scott as The Pillsbury Doughboy, Spencer as Damian from The Omen and Joslyn as ‘Carrie White’…that wouldve made the show so much better…lol…Meanwhile, will a dedperate Ava reveal to Nina that Kiki is her daughter or would that drive Nina to act even more crazier…if i was told Kiki was mine id have to be committed…lol…Franco should marry his ‘Lying Cheating Whore’…or does he rather have someone just like his mummy Heather…in that case this would be crazy Nina!!! Sonny is a hypocrite: talks about Ava being a cold blood killer out to eliminate anyone who gets in her way…doesnt Sonny know what ‘he is’…and Morgan is helping him?…hope Ava names the baby after Sonnys abusive father(i think his name was Deke?)…will Dante arrest Sonny…does Dante ever arrest a criminal? Anna should give Duke to Lucy…Anna and Duke just dont have ‘it’ anymore…i bet Micheal will change his name to Micheal Quartimaine and wont be sending Sonny a Father’s Day card next year once he learns the truth…lol

Morgan (Bryan Craig) and Sonny (Maurice Benard) both had my full attention.. very powerful and moving.. superb acting!!

Nina (Michelle Stafford) is more powerful than she was with Y&R, she is a magnificent actress..
    Ava (Maura West) was outstanding..
Maura and Michelle are two of the best soap actress, and together they are spellbinding.

Madeline (Donna Mills), Silas (Michael Easton) Sam (Kelly Monaco) gave great performances!!!

Franco (Roger Howarth) and Carly (Laura Wright) were excellent, they had me on the edge!
It was tense! I like that..

And as alway Anna (Finola Hughes) and Heather (Robin Mattson) both were splendid..

The whole Friday cast of stars get a huge BRAVO!!!!!

It does not get any better than General Hospital..

Michelle Stafford — whoa — this stuff was great. She’s been on fire lately. Actually, the last 5 episodes have been awesome!! Maura West – Top notch today!!

This is the stuff that General Hospital is made off. When the writers are at the top of their game like this, the show is awesome!!! Kudos to the episode :)

Thanks for your observations on Sonny, hypocrite is the tip of the iceberg!

I found Nina’s behavior unsettling, unsettling to the point of “I’d rather not see something like this,” although Maura West was terrific!

Finally, Franco tells off Carly! No truer words were ever spoken…

Excellent. Sometimes a suggestion can be very powerful; just the thought of a drug that leaves you powerless to move is Hitchcockian. That ploy has been used often; most recently and more horrifically on Revenge…but frightening nonetheless. To watch Ava powerless (murderess that she is), vulnerable, unable to use her violent, criminal mind against a woman crazed…was riveting and disturbing. Michelle Stafford was masterful in her rage…her psychotic glee…and terrifying as she circled Ava’s belly. Both actresses were brilliant and it made for great drama. I really “felt” Ava’s fear…

I loved how they circled each point around the other. As Ava was being attacked, Sam was scared, Silas was torn and worried about both Danny and Ava, Morgan and Sonny were each devastated, Carly and Franco went toward a marriage with ulterior motives…and each segment tied into another. (I also love that they’re giving Michael Easton/Silas more play time. I felt his reliability…his steadfast nature…his sincerity, loyalty. I just love the guy. (Actor and character.)

I thought Bryan Craig was a fantastic actor from the start. When a lot of people were complaining…I found him defiant and poignant…and attractive. He is a total match for the more seasoned actors…he’s able to drum up an emotional intensity that totally sucks me in. Again, I felt father and son at odds…Sonny’s devastation and fear as his “secret” unravels…Morgan’s dejection when he finds out the woman he’s loved and possibly the mother of his child a cold-blooded killer. (Not sure if he ever really believed that of her before.)

I LOVED that even in her complete insanity Heather eventually figures out things when she needs to…and I LOVED the loyalty she showed Franco and how she saved his life. I actually got happy chills! LOL!

Franco’s vows? Brought a smug smile to my face…loved it.

    And then there’s Spencer. XO!

    Maura West astounds
    she’s a Marvel

mind you… I was offput by her presence on ATWT, because of my devotion to the Snyder family and thought Carly and Rosanna were the reason the Snyders’ dissapeared…

she’ll tell us straight out… Y&R just bombed… for both sides… actor and audience

she begets her presence in Port Charles and just stratospheres…. Aplomb….

    Hi Patrick! ;)

Ces…I look at Michael a different way. I like him soooo much! (And Chad Duell is hilarious if you’ve ever seen his videos with girlfriend Kristen.)

I think they’ve done a great casting job with these two brothers. Morgan looks and acts like Sonny…he’s dark in appearance and mood. Tempestuous, passionate, capable of great love as well as wrath. He embodies a Corinthos.

Michael looks like a Quartermaine. He looks like our latest AJ (Sean Kanan) as well as Jason…both Steve and now Billy. He’s lighter in look and temperament. But yet, perhaps this is where environment comes in vs genetics…he’s killed twice when he’s had to. He’s on the surface so cool, pleasant, amiable, likeable…to me anyway. I just LIKE him! But he’s been exposed to such violence…that underneath that calm…the lessons that being Sonny’s son and Jason’s nephew are quite capable of emerging.

So, I don’t fault Michael (or Chad) for less emotional scenes. His character doesn’t call for it (again, my opinion.) But I think he’s a great foil to his more on-the-surface emotional brother. In the end, it’s Michael, the quiet one…who so far has had to wield his sword…both in Sonny’s mob world and AJ’s corporate one.

This is one viewer who is not finding all of this aberrant activity aimed at Ava one bit entertaining….the systematic, barbaric abuse of an expectant mother and her unborn fetus, first being dangerously drugged by that nuisance of a nurse, and now horribly harassed in strikingly similar circumstances by Nina the Nutter, is utterly nauseating. As I have previously stated, I am no fan of the haughty hit woman and whatever happens to her once she gives birth is of absolutely no consequence to me, but until the time Ms. Jerome has been safely delivered of that child in a peaceful, respectful fashion…and NOT into the arms of that mirthfully malicious maniac, then this storyline needs to give it a rest. Quite frankly, the only reason I have even been able to stomach the scenes with the overbearing albatross so perturbingly portrayed by MS is due to the presence of the divinely delicious Donna Mills and the gargantuanly-gifted Kathleen Gati….oh, how I pray that somehow these two sinister Swiss Sisses combine forces to permanently remove Madeline’s deranged daughter not only from the streets of Port Charles, but the GH canvas, as well. Enough is enough with this obnoxious loose cannon!!!! Having said that, the “Wedding from H#ll” was equally off-putting…..it was a veritable freak fest!!! How much more of the waxen-faced mother of the bride must we be subjected to before she is returned to her rightful place in storage at Madame Tussaud’s? And can there ever be ONE set of nuptials where that insufferable shrew, Lucy, doesn’t have to officiate with her “look at me” attention-grabbing antics???? Too much time was wasted on these minor, yet majorly annoying, characters….all that really matters are Franco’s sweet revenge and Heather’s grand entrance…..let’s get this show on the road!!!! (However, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Josslyn and her fulsome flower girl flourishes….that one’s got sass!!!! Loved it!)

(As always, it was a treat to hear from you in your own inimitable literary fashion….please keep those wildly-creative streams-of-consciousness regarding Port Charles coming our way! They are such a joy to behold….)

    hunt replied

Hopefully this doesn’t offend, but you’re taking it way to serious. This is daytime drama at its finest. Emphasis on DRAMA. While we all have characters we root for (me – I’m team Ava. I’d love nothing more than for her to somehow show that she’s a SUPERWOMAN and knock the piss out of Nina and put that bitch back in a coma), it’s just such riveting story. As posted by others, these actors really brought their best to Friday’s episode…and many have been doing outstanding work for weeks. I’m sorry that you don’t appear to appreciate that. It’s pure entertainment and I think that many are thoroughly enjoying it.

    rebecca1 replied

    I agree hunt.

A soap takes the best and worst of society and heightens it. The whole contrast
of good vs evil is why we root for the characters that we do. (Or in this case evil vs evil…though I love them both).

I was effected by the death of Jake and I wish they hadn’t killed him off. Similarly I was sad that Danny was sick. But these things happen in life…it’s gut-wrenching in reality and in fiction.

But thankfully Danny has a happy outcome…Maxie was given a heart (in her childhood heart problems) and so on.

Ava getting hers is long overdue. She’s taunted, tortured and murdered. I have no problem with revenge coming at her in all directions…it makes for great drama and ties in a lot of characters.

I must say on this i’m not sure if the writers think having a Corinthos/Jerome child will make a better story…or killing off the unborn child would…not knowing is one of the reasons I keep comin’ back!

    Shay replied

No offense taken, Hunt! I happen to agree with you on the subject of Ava….how I would love to see her muster all the strength she has to do exactly what you so succinctly stated…..we are on the same page there! However, I am simply saying that I felt this constant barrage of abuse to Ms. Jerome in her fragile expectant condition was simply too extreme and overdone….for me it has ceased to be interesting or edgy…it has crossed over to the sick and sadistic. Having said that, “The Av-ster” richly deserves all the retributions that will come raining down upon her for her myriad malicious misdeeds, and hopefully that will happen in the not too far future….AFTER her child makes a safe arrival into this world! Regular readers at MFSoaps already are aware that I’ve never been an Ava aficionada, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t prefer for her to prevail in this particular instance or acknowledge that MW does a bang-up job as the malevolent mafiosa…..along with the many talented thesps who portray Dr. O., Madeline, Silas, Franco, Heather, Anna, and especially the magnificent Billy Miller as nuJason….there have been too numerous to mention top-notch performances as of late. The only place I part company with perennial posters here is regarding Nina…..I cannot abide the character nor her portrayal by MS….it has all the delicacy and finesse of a bull in a china shop, and the oft-repeated rotation of acting affectations is simply tiresome and predictable…I derive no pleasure from her exaggerated, hackneyed histrionics.

Shay, I don’t get the feeling anyone can call you humor challenged, nor am I ever accused of suffering from the same malady. However, watching Reptile Woman threaten Ava with the needle displeased me. Meanwhile, Nick Tortelli, er, I mean Sonny, is telling his son Morgan that he is “gonna take Ava out” after she gives birth to his baby. ( I assume Sonny doesn’t mean take Ava out to a dinner and a movie.) Instead of recoiling from his father in moral horror, Morgan basically says,”Gee, Dad, That’s a swell idea.” Wasn’t Morgan in love with this woman once upon a time?
Yes, I understand this is supposed to be good, campy, comic book fun but as a former comic book junkie, I can tell you that I never once ran across a story in which the Joker was plotting to kill Catwoman after she gave birth to his kittens. Nor did I see the Riddler ever plot to kill her unborn child.
Call me a cantankerous, joyless, humorless old grouch, but the plotting against mother and unborn child just feels unseemly to me.
The rest is all good fun.

(Kind of like that “Crypt Tryst” which we so widely discussed some months back…..) It’s not a choice….it just is. Furthermore, I don’t dissect “everything” about GH…..quite frankly, I ignore much of what transpires until something particularly riveting or revolting enough upon which to comment comes along…that can mean a little or a lot depending upon the vicissitudes of the program….for me, it’s either feast or famine when it refers to this show. Still, I’m glad that you—as well as many others—are so obviously enchanted and enthralled by all the “great fiction(al)” Port Charles happenings!!!! Also, thank you for taking the time to respond to my thoughts…especially since you pointed out that you cared not about what I wrote. ; )

As you saved the best thought for last, I shall start there…..yes, we have been blessedly Snappy free as of late, although dare I say that I’ve been waiting with bated breath for Dr. O. to tear that nitwit nurse a new one after her baby killing escapade was thankfully aborted (no pun intended there….) and revealed….I am still hoping there will be h#!! to pay at the hands of the officious Obrecht for Ms. Santiago and her accomplices. Forget the demented, defective daughter already, just keep this Sister Act going for the long haul….I love them!!!!! I am also truly charmed by Billy Miller as nuJason…he has brought such a warmth and charisma to the role…he just has to be the genuine article, plus he’s really clicking with RH’s Liz….I’m glad to see this actress get some long well-deserved attention and worthwhile material. As for Ava, I’ve dwelled upon her character sufficiently enough for everyone to know my low opinion regarding her, hence, given what she put the dearly-departed AJ through, I would not mind seeing her knocked to Hades and back a few times over….provided it’s after her bambino is safely and soundly ensconced in its designated babydaddy’s arms! Finally, in terms of “Phyllina,” I cannot tolerate much more of her inane nuttery….I’m beginning to think she is even too far gone insane for the likes of Franco!!!! All I can add is that I would give anything to see Madeline stick a fork (or perhaps a wooden stake) in her so this time she would be permanently done….you go, Magda!!!!

    KansasGuest replied

The “horror” of Ava’s situation IS the point. I’m very impressed at how the writers built everything to peak at Halloween, and aren’t soft peddling Nina’s twisted nature by making it a daydream of what she wants to do, or a paranoid delusion of Ava’s. I’m not normally a fan of all those horror movies w/children at their core (ROSEMARY’S BABY, THE OMEN, THE EXORCIST, THE BAD SEED). But, my feeling is that if GH is going to set 2 characters on a collision course to peak at Halloween, they might as well go for broke and dare to do something as macabre as WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE. That’s pretty much what the showdown btw Ava & Nina looks like to me – with Nina doing her best Bette Davis & Ava suffering as the incapacitated Joan Crawford stand-in. Go, girls! Chew that scenery!

@Shay all I will say is GH for me is too much crazy going on! I feel like I woke up in the middle of a bad slasher movie. Getting old & grouchy I guess !

    Shay replied

I get what you are saying KansasGuest, but my biggest problem besides finding the current Ava (and Baby…) in jeopardy scheme to be beyond distasteful is the fact it has been repeated for the duration of her entire pregnancy….just the once would have sufficed, and had it been Sonny as the perpetrator, torturing her and threatening to take away her child before harming her, then I could have understood, given Corinthos’ completely logical beef with her. But that nonsense with the Snapster and her purposely drugging an unborn child with the intent to kill, and then this deranged drama queen Nina plotting and obsessing over getting herself an infant….AVA’S infant, is much too much. As for the scenery-chewing, yeah, once in a while it makes for a big moment, but MS has been on one continuous munchfest ……it ceases to be interesting or exciting when it becomes a daily habit!

    rebecca1 replied

The “daily habit” is consistency, Shay. If Nina was a psycho out for revenge one moment and making nice with the neighbors the next (and I mean REALLY being nice, not psycho nice) then the entire storyline wouldn’t ring true. This is the culmination of a woman locked in her body for 20 years, feeling her life, her baby and her husband were stolen from her…and the “list” of people she needs to torture to feel somewhat emotionally relieved. Nina’s been fixated on Ava…fixated on losing her own baby…so it makes perfect sense for her, in her total break from reality combined with a diabolical streak…to make Ava suffer WHILE she’s pregnant. If not, we’d just have another baby kidnapping story. I agree it was uncomfortable to watch; but that’s what made it effectively good drama. I found it difficult to watch Kathy Bates and James Caan…or the soap version with Victor/Todd being kidnapped, drugged and raped by Margaret (if any OLTL people remember that).

I think the fact that Ava’s getting hit on all sides…from Sonny (and now Morgan), Sabrina and Nina is the ultimate comeuppance story…she’s whirling around metaphorically not knowing when who or what is going to get her. Not bad for a woman who was instrumental in AJ’s death and tried to kill Michael.

The one real objection I had was during Sabrina’s storyline when she was pregnant in real life and on the show. THAT was uncomfortable to watch; an expectant mother having to play out the death of her fictional unborn child. I thought that was a horrible thing to ask an actress to do…and asked a lot in the name of fiction.

Hey, Shay. Ooolalala, I’m baaaaack !!! I had an exhausting day…lost my rhythm….LOL.
I must admit that I found myself fast forwarding most of the Ava/Nina scenes. You know how I feel about any heart wrenching and gruesome baby storylines. I like watching horror movies as much as the next person; just not involving babies, or children, in general. I suppose there are those fans who greedily lust for blood. When I saw Ava slithering on the floor, my stomach actually did a spasmodic flip.
I am with you….I must be from a different planet because I will never understand how anyone is able to enjoy this ‘mise-en scene’, as unrealistic as it may be. It was grisly and barbarous….not at all entertaining. It was more spoofish than anything else….where is the art in that? Was it meant to shock? It really didn’t…it made me shake my head in disgust.
I have been chanting the same litany as rebecca about Nina….That she was in a coma for two decades, that her life was taken away from her, etc. I steadfastly maintain and conform to that concept……it is the seriousness of the situation which is being abused and debased to which I am protesting.
As always, Shay…..I commend your amazing input….I too, must add my BRAVA !!!!! Later.

And a “BRAVA” right back at ya, CeeCee!!! You have just returned to your hectic schedule and yet you took the time to post such a gracious reply to little ole me ….well, “molte grazie, amica mia!” (I’m touched!) I guess we both hail from a “different planet” because that cunning, cold-blooded child-clutching caper of Nina’s is waaay too far out there for me, too…..most certainly too uncivilized to be considered entertaining in any manner of the word. It’s deplorable and disgusting in its depth of depravity, and today’s episode did little to change my convictions regarding that subject. I found it to be just as wince-inducing and stomach-churning as that served up on Monday’s menu. I won’t get more specific until you have the chance to view the most recent show, but suffice to say I was hoping that Silas and Nathan would arrive to save the day by kicking down the door and putting a bullet in Nina, as I think death is the only means by which to permanently vanquish those demons that darken her sickened soul, whatever their origins. Alas, that did not happen, but I truly pray that the life of this most innocent of infants is not long imperiled by the perturbing presence of this monomaniacal madwoman.

Heeeyyy, Shay. As usual, your writing sends me.

I do believe that Port Charles seems to harvest psychos…these characters are all certifiable and straight out of bedlam…not just Nina. BTW, Shay? Did you notice the size of Ava’s baby? This infant is huge for a premie…LOL. And what an easy delivery too!!!! We women should all be that lucky!
And then, there’s Sonny, the almighty, who feels he has every right to kill whenever his malevolent head commands it…no whys, ifs or buts. Little men turn me off as it is…LOL….and, picturing him with Carly? Why does my mind go there? I’m just so naughty. LOL.

Oh, I did not know you spoke Italian, Shay. I was actually compelled to learn the language as many of my husband’s family members are not fluent in English….does not bode well for making small talk or good conversation. Such a beautiful language…much softer than the harsh-sounding Dutch, Icelandic or even Scottish languages I am used to hearing…LOL.

I never thought I would find myself saying this, but Nina went overboard, I agree. I watched with one eye open, drawing a chuckle from my husband. But, you must admit, Shay…WHAT ACTING !!!! That was thespian brilliance at its best. And Ava? Oh, Lordy, Lord!! It must have been so difficult to act immobile……looked so realistic, I was so impressed….so intense. And, what a sigh of relief it was when no harm came to the baby, albeit I was left wanting…..you know? The Kiki thing? When will the big reveal happen? I was expecting the revelation that Kiki is Nina’s before things accelerated thus far…..I await the week-end with bated breath to catch up……papers to grade……later.

    Shay replied

Hello again, CeeCee!!! Welcome to the weekend…..I guess you survived your return to the halls of academe? Do tell….was it tough to kick the “daytime viewing habit?” (Hey, just had to ask…..LOL.) Concerning your assertion that Port Charles “harvests psychos,” well, yeah, it always has, but historically we were normally treated to no more than one to two per season….now they convivially concur and congregate with alarming frequency at the hands of Ron C. And speaking of the “unbalanced,” (to put it kindly….) I absolutely agree with you that Nina went overboard, but then for me, that’s nothing new….I continue to be extremely underwhelmed with the off-the-chart contrivances and heavy-handed hamminess employed by MS to convey her character’s heights of hysteria….LaNina is simply not in any way, shape or form to my liking—I know, I know…we part company on this integral issue, CeeCee!—but the sight of that corrosive crackpot cloyingly clutching and cradling Ava’s precious bundle made me completely queasy…as all the while the calm, cool and collected Madeline just stood by and took it all in!!! My my, I pray that bedazzling blonde beauty of a barracuda has something up her soigne’ sleeve (or in her bichen black Birkin Bag of tricks….) to finally put an end to this annoying Nina-esque nonsense once and for all….if ever there were a doubt that her daughter was deeply disturbed and defective from day one, there shouldn’t be any longer. (Magda….and Mutta!….were right on the mark regarding the maniacal Mrs. Clay!!!!) However I would be remiss if I didn’t offer high praise to MW….while her typically vicious, avaricious Ava seldom appeals to my senses, she truly gave a pitch-perfect performance filled with restraint, nuance and finesse….no overly dramatic scenery-chewing for Ms. Jerome this time around, just a subtlety and grace under pressure that demonstrated even the most self-serving and sinister of she-devils can be motivated by maternal instincts. Although it certainly didn’t make me an apologist for all the appalling acts attributed to this highfalutin hitwoman, it did allow me to regard her as human for the first time and champion her efforts to not only reclaim her child, but exact revenge for that loathsome lunatic’s inexcusable indignities that were imposed upon this mother-to-be and her newborn….and oh yes, “Baby Corinthos” was rather bouncing in birth weight given her premature status, yet I found myself immensely relieved that she emerged as a real…albeit rather full-term….infant and not that grotesque “rubberino bambino” that I had feared would be making an encore appearance! In terms of the “Kiki Revelation,” I am about as weary of waiting for that as “Fluke’s” real identity to be unveiled……I am eagerly anticipating that both bombshells should be shortly forthcoming? As for my “Italian,” I am not conversant in the language, just an interested admirer of it….I actually took French in college— over a year’s worth during a single summer quarter, hence, not enough for my taste remained on the brain—but I am entirely enchanted by these most romantic of the romance languages, and regularly watch Mhz International television programs from both France and Italy (with English subtitles) where I tend to quickly pick up on words and phrases. Also, a bit before you joined the MF ranks, we had a most delightful East Coast poster who went by FAS (aka “Alina”)….she was much like yourself in wit and intellect…..extremely well-spoken, too. We hit it off and spent many a thread debating and discussing our in-depth analyses of all things related to Port Charles. Alas, this brilliant lass (of Italian extraction…) departed to Milan for med school some months back, and she is still sorely missed. Long story short, I often peppered our “conversations” with expressions in “Italiano” and it made for some wonderful back and forth. Following her absence, FAS’s gracious grandmother “Nonna” briefly joined us, too, before she summered on the Amalfi Coast, I believe it was? Now that autumn is upon us, I often wonder how she and her gregarious granddaughter are faring. Therefore, if either of them stumble onto this particular post, “Ciao! Come sta? Mi manchi molto! Non ti santo da una vita!

P.S. My apologies, I meant “Alida!” Darn typo….forgive me, “FAS,” if you see this!

I have mixed feelings for MS’s Nina…her more subdued scenes during the birth of Ava’s child today i could tolerate(if she was more like this instead of her bloated overacting style in most scenes i might have been able to like her but her campy cartoonish craziness gets on my last nerve…im like CeeCee and you…i cant stomach this cold calculating crazy threatening a pregnant Ava and it got to the point that i almost stopped watching…(i know some point out Nina was in a coma for 20 years, lost a child, and her husband cheated on her blah, blah, blah, which explains her behavior but even so, it doesnt make me feel for the character when she’s in this gut turning madfest…now my other soap Days is planning something similiar…ugh!!!…anyway, my favorite scene today was when those trick or treaters were at the hospital and took off frightened by the appearance by our mutual favorite mutter Dr.Lisel…i couldnt stop laughing!!! Although I like the storyline I also am uncomfortable watching it…which means it’s pretty powerful stuff. If this were Jack Nicolson or Kathy Bates we’d in some Hitchcock thriller many more would be applauding it. The point is for me…and some others…it was powerful, heightened drama…revolting and compelling all at the same time. And as we all know…the baby is fine…

We do agree, jimh. As much as I love Michelle, Nina completely turned me off with her Lizzie Borden behavior. You’re right, no matter Nina’s suffering and betrayal, her demonic antics are not acceptable. Nina means the baby no harm? Anything horrific could happen which could be detrimental to the baby. She’s nuts, so how does she differentiate between what’s good or bad for that child? TPTB cannot have it both ways…this storyline is very contradictory. On one hand, Nina is mentally ill, yet, she’s ‘compos mentis’.
I just don’t get what TPTB are trying to convey….yes, we already know Nina is nuts, but these devastatingly graphic scenes are for the movies, not soaps. Perhaps, jimh, this is our future fare….

Maura West, though. OMG! Her acting while not being able to move her body!!! She was magnificent.

I do not understand how Morgan was “flipped” so easily. Yes he was shocked Ava killed Connie. But everything Sonny said about how horrible Ava is, Sonny is equal or worse. Ava had “cause” (as wrong as it was) to kill AJ. Sonny had NO REASON to kill AJ, other than jealousy that he’s Michael’s real father. And he’s going to kill Franco and frame Heather. Neither are innocent, but Sonny is no better than any of them.

Maybe Sonny will go to the brownstone and have to deliver Ava’s baby???

She has never mentioned leaving town. Granted, she is fruitier than a nut cake, but still, she is capable of planning. How does she plan to get away with what she is trying to do should she succeed? Of course, anyone would thinks a doctor can tell if a woman is pregnant the day after intercourse has to have some underdeveloped cognitive abilities.

Excellent question, Engrady! Although I’m really not certain that “LaNina” has any great talent for planning….Other than her amateurish, must-bandied about “List,” I’ve seen no evidence of an aptitude for that in her skill set….up until now she has simply depended upon her vast wealth to grease any palms she must to employ her schemes….and those have been pretty basic, certainly not intricate in their execution. (A lot of her success thus far has also been due to the element of surprise…..she was able to go “stealth” when her targets assumed she was still in a coma, then unable to walk.) I really don’t believe she has a brilliant bone in her body….she has just been lucky in the way she’s “winged it” up until the present and now she has Mama Magda and Auntie Liesel to provide cover….as you point out, not only is she pretty far gone mentally, but she definitely has shortcomings in the logical “critical thinking” department! As for how she intends to escape detection after absconding with “Baby Corinths,”—-Love the nickname!—I don’t know that she has even considered that notion….she’s all caught up in the fantasy of obtaining Ava’s infant by any revolting means necessary. I suppose it will be up to Madeline to figure out the logistics of the situation….

One of my biggest issues with GH has been with the force-feeding of certain newbies when they debut…it’s just too overbearing and imposing…we had this situation with atrocious Ava, most definitely with the insufferable Sappy and now LaNina the Loon. I have noticed that there seems to be greater restraint in the easing in of Billy Miller as nuJason, although from my perspective, I wouldn’t mind watching him more often….he has already won me over with his charming, heartwarming portrayal. Which is exactly opposite to my reaction of the nearly constant, cloying presence of MS since her character emerged from that blessed coma….shame it didn’t last another 20 years! (In other words, she’s not “my cup of tea,” either…..LOL.)

    Harry replied

Yes, yes and yes to both Kay and Shay.
The basic storyboard reads as follows–setting, introduction, character, conflict, rising action, climax and resolution.
With a character like Sabrina we had no proper introduction and went straight to conflict, swiftly followed by climax and finally punctuated by a resolution which resembled the end of a Disney on Ice performance.
Viewers were told to care not shown to care. Good writing shows without telling. Or in this case, ordering. The good news is that they seem to be learning from their mistakes.
From what I hear Sabrina (TC) is out.

Just got caught up on last week’s GH, and all I can say about Friday’s episode is wow!!! So many stories woven together perfectly, tremendous performances from so much of the cast.

In particular, Michelle Stafford, Maura West, Donna Mills, Maurice Benard, Bryan Craig, Roger Howarth, Laura Wright, even the scenes with Finola Hughes and Dominic Zamprogna where Anna was laying out the scenario that finally brought Dante to the conclusion that he didn’t wanna admit, but had to, that Sonny killed AJ.

They made me feel sorry for Ava, which I didn’t think was possible, lol. Can’t say enough about the job Maura West has been doing. Nina as played by the incomparable Michelle Stafford has been on fire the past few weeks. Roger Howarth is finally getting some meaty material to play as Franco, and I can’t wait to see him tear into Carly on Monday, as she so rightfully deserves.

Just brilliant stuff from top to bottom. Wouldn’t be surprised if there were scenes that lead to Emmy nominations coming out of Friday’s show, and the follow up on Monday. GH is firing on all cylinders as we kick off November, and I’m loving every minute of it. They once again prove time and time again why they have the best ensemble cast in daytime.

With all due respect, rebecca,I am somewhat dumbfounded by a few of your contradictory statements. You seem to fluctuate between making jokes at the insanity unfolding before the viewer, “….Loved the entire episode”. By the same token, your comment to jimh, “….Although I like the storyline I also am uncomfortable watching it…” …is so contradictory to your first comment. Huh? You like baby snatching storylines? You like kidnapping pregnant women and sticking needles whether I agree with her or not. I suppose I should not get so hot under the collar, but your use of the word “levity” was so not apropos, …..it really did me in.
I appreciate Su, who, at least, does not vacillate and sticks to her guns. I get her….
I hope I have not misread you, rebecca, if I did? Sorry.

I can’t even respond to you right now. It’s late; I just noticed this. I’ll address it tomorrow. But I have to say after reading a few of your responses to people…you’re a tad critical, judgmental and arrogant…none of which I appreciate.

I’ll clarify my remarks…when I get a chance. Not because I owe you…but because I like to express my stance, on anything, clearly. I hope you get my stance on your attitude.

    rebecca1 replied

On second thought CeeCee…if you’re that confused by my comments reread them…or don’t. Here’s a head start…they’re called mixed emotions. Intense episode that I found riveting and revolting.

As for the “levity”…that didn’t refer to Nina’s actions or the way the baby was born. It was referring to congratulating the “two” moms. A bit of sarcastic levity…making light of a FICTIONAL intense situation. The “two” moms…

I hope this calms you down.

    CeeCee replied

Thank you very much for your kind words….how very sweet of you !!!!Never have I ever been called arrogant in my life. Perhaps you should read past comments to me …now, that’s arrogant. You belittle me.
I find no comic relief in your “levity”. I lost a child three years ago…he came and went like a warm summer breeze, but always on my mind and heart. That’s no joke.
I am aware this fact is neither here nor there…the writers should not cater to a nonentity such as I. It is a show and they have the freedom and right to do as they please. It is a free country !!!But, I stand firm that you contradict yourself. What mixed emotions? The scene between Nina and Ava just before the birth was sadistic…levity just doesn’t enter it.
I am a very calm person by nature…..probably too calm…it takes much to educe a a stir out of me. Do not presume to know me…..please do not patronize me. I am not you subordinate, ma’am. Pax.

    rebecca1 replied

CeeCee…You are the epitome of mixed emotions. When you first started on this board I complimented you on how “adorable” you seemed. I have since read your words to others…not just me…where you capitalized every letter in your anger at something someone has written. This is a site about soaps…they’re fiction…a lot of us go back and forth either in agreement or disagreement…but it’s usually lively and fun. I’ve only had one other “run-in”….

Your comments to me were offensive, accusatory and ridiculous. I’m not going to argue about a soap opera. But you do need to calm down…and in the future you can aim your wrath, or your compliments, in another direction.

Fridays episode was great, in fact for me it started on Wednesday episode which featured the great Finola Hughes and Maurice Benard scene were finally Anna lay down the law to Sonny, it was a great scene and it showed two worthy opponents from opposite side of the law going at it. Its like RC finally got it that it makes more sense to make two characters like Anna and Sonny worthy opponents then to play up one character in favor of another. People love the Sonny character and hate him as well, thats a testament to the talent of Maurice Benard but it was getting old seeing him always getting away with murder and similar characters like Ava and Julian and Dr. O for example while dumbing down Characters like Anna. As for the other stories playing out, so far so good, except anything with Heather in the mix, i know RC loves this character but to me its to cartoonish and i’m afraid she will ruin francos revenge story, in fact, my excitement for thursdays preview show showing Jordan kicking butt was a quick disappointment when jordan became the latest character that Heather quickly was able to take down. So apparently Jordan can knock down a big dude but got over powered by an old women, the only way i’ll buy that scene is if they show in flashback Jordan turning her back on Heather and heather knocking her down, otherwise the scene ruined for me any respect i had for Jordan which i really like.

Robin Mattson (Heather) is 58; I wouldn’t exactly call her an old woman..haha…I guess if you’re 20-something it might seem that way…but I don’t think even when I was in my 20s I considered that elderly. Just…older. But yes, I too, wondered how she overpowered Jordan. I have a couple of thoughts…first, who cares? The point is she did and in so doing ensured Franco’s survival. Loved it! Loved how Heather pieced the puzzle together in the nick of time to save Franco! Other than that…Healther, all fifty-something years of her…is a loon. And I think loons have super strength. I doubt Jordan even suspected that Heather would attack her. Perhaps caught off guard she was briefly knocked out, tied up…and the rest will go down in BLT history! ;)

I hear ya, rebecca1!!!! Our Heather is the gold standard lunatic in the annals of GH nutcases…..you can always rely upon her to prevail, even if she initially takes a beating…she manages to keep on ticking and (eventually) make her eagerly-awaited comeback(s)! I love her resilience and element of surprise attacks, campy as they may be. She’s logical, methodical and diabolical in her own particular form of pathology, but even her insanity occasionally takes a day off….she’s never on the constant crazytrain like Nina who appears to have a permanent boarding pass for the loco express. That’s the difference between these two dementos, and why the former never ceases to amuse and thrill me to no end, while the latter simply repels and repulses me with her endlessly evil, hyperbolic histrionics.

Now she is just Freddy Krueger and frankly, I find Freddy to be a bore and would never invite him to any of my dinner parties.
He’d carve up the roast with his hands before it had rested and he’d bore every one to death with his redundant platitudes. Heather of the old days?
I would seat her at the head of the table.

It’s times like this, SWEEPS, when having this big, heavy cast really WORKS best for GH!! There are so many stories surely there is at least 1 that is your cup of tea. I love that in the middle of all of this madness is the sweet, still innocent beginnings of a love story between Liz & Jake. Jake absolutely, positively needs Liz right now! She is his lifeline and clearly he is becoming hers, awakening thoughts and dreams in her she forgot she had. This is SO VERY IMPORTANT for many reasons. This s/l reminds us and show newcomers more of who Liz is, was and had dreams of becoming. Brilliant way to bring it all back up to the surface. Jake is lost. For those who think he’s too jolly, please notice he only behaves that way around Liz. When alone or not joking, he immediately goes back to his serious tone. This man is lost and anyone, male or female, would gravitate toward whatever lifeline they’re being handed, so it’s only logical he trusts Liz & will accept the help she will offer. I feel they may already be in love or close to it, but that doesn’t mean he won’t love Sam or even stay with Liz. It just is what it is. She thinks Ric dead. (The continuing of this lie bothers me more than any on the show right now-really Anna? Shame!)
I fully believe Jake will remember that AVA is the REAL one that hit him and SAVED him. He thinks the wreck was his fault. To him Ava saved him. This could actually help Ava in her situation, especially when Sonny finds out she saved Jason. He will just insist Ava hit Jason running from him and should die (yawn, Sonny), but Jake/Jason will demand otherwise. IMO.
I feel Jake will run into Danny and Sam in the hospital before checking out. Will Danny call him dad again?

This entire week has been a masterpiece IMO. Each day a few different actors have been given a chance to shine. I loved Franco & Scotty in robes bonding, Anna feeling out Sonny & discussing his awkward family get togethers w/various baby mamas. Brilliant. Perfect timing between MB & FH. BC’s Morgan must have the Emmy he should have won last year, this year! The scenes w/Sonny are always good but last weeks were magnetic. It really shows he belongs w/the A team on this show, and yes, I will add someone else not seen much this week, LET’s Rosalie. She handles Nina w/ease and more than holds her own w/heavyweights Maura West & Maurice Bernard. I feel she needs to be up there at the big kids table.
Maura West is giving me chills. I understand Nina, we know why, (thank you writers-sometimes you forget to tell us WHY) Nina is losing it, Donna Mills hasn’t lost 1 step & fits in seamlessly w/daytime soap world. Would love to see an interview with her about this role! Dr. O is not my think but w/Madeline & Jake, she shines.
Silas is FINALLY human, just about the time I feel he will be killed off. That would make me sad now. I FINALLY believe he and Nina had a past. I UNDERSTAND how he closed his eyes to NIna’s deceit. So many answers are rolling out. Oh my…we have just gotten started!! This sweeps has barely begun!! Buckle Up indeed!!

Next week will be Michael’s turn to shine! I sense of shift in dynamics-Michael will reject all that is Sonny and Carly and turn to the Quartermaines, just as almost 20 years ago, Jason rejected his family and all that came with being born into The Quartermaines, even the name, and turned to Sonny. I think it will all come full circle. Sonny will lose Michael to the Quartermaines. Spooky.

Tired of him manipulating the people that he “loves.” Whenever he said, “now, do you understand why I had to hurt you” to Morgan-I almost lost it! I used to love Sonny (back in the 90′s when he was with Brenda). Now, I can’t stand how every decision that he makes is automatically justified. Tired, oh so tired, of Michael on his pedestal. I don’t think Michael puts himself on a pedestal. It’s everyone else that has held him up as this grand prize to be won. All the adults in his life constantly use him to justify all their disgusting actions. If you think about it, that says they really don’t trust him when the chips are down. They pretend to be something they are not to keep his love & affection because they fear their real selves aren’t worthy of it (which is kind of true). But, they’ve always worked on the assumption that if Michael knows the truth, he won’t forgive them. What if he would have forgiven them all along by just being honest with him? The ultimate irony is that it’s always the lie that breaks the relationship; not the truth. But, Sonny & Carly never see it that way. They rely on lies to hold everything together, fearing the truth because, deep down, they know that their true selves are really ugly & unworthy.

The “ol freaky Franco” wouldn’t have hung around wearing his heart on his sleeve while exacting his revenge…which by the way was emotional revenge…not serial killer revenge. Ava, on the other hand, is a cold-blooded killer who, though not enthusiastically, was about to kill Michael, DID kill Connie, set up AJ…and doesn’t have a brain tumor commanding her actions…nor did she lose 20 years of her life, her husband and her baby (so she thinks) at her mother’s hands.

I’d say out of these three criminal minds, Ava is the cold, calculating one…Franco and Nina are psychologically “interesting.”

I say, as you did, “way to go”…but add…Franco! As for Nina? I think a few of the right meds and therapy might make her a functional member of Port Charles finest criminals…

For a person who has had 3 miscarriages, , this was beyond disturbing

    rebecca1 replied

    Hi Sandie…

Yes; this storyline has really been a source of contention! I can certainly understand, particularly from your point of view why the way this has played out is beyond disturbing. And, ironically, I agree! But at the same time I think it makes sense as Nina has been portrayed from the very beginning as completely insane, out for revenge, obsessed with losing her baby…obsessed with Ava having everything she wants, etc.

Thus, though I found it cringe-worthy…I actually felt horrified when Nina put her hands on Ava’s stomach after she temporarily paralyzed her…I did, I truly felt horrified…but at the same time, from a dramatic point of view it worked. Too well! Let’s just say for me it was riveting and revolting simultaneously. But again, I don’t think we can discount the “20 years of my life”…I doubt anyone who had their life ripped from them in such a manner, who was unstable to begin with and is now buried in turmoil, wouldn’t repeat it over and over again…

If I’m watching a soap I get sucked into its drama, its characters and each of their own personas. Some are wacky fun like Lucy, charmingly debonair like the much missed Robert Scorpio, bipolar, mob boss warm and fuzzy then vengeful and merciless Sonny…on and on. So now we have Nina…crazy out for justice Nina. I applaud the intensity of the performance…I understand the pathos of her actions and I guess I just felt that they wouldn’t have harm come to the baby. (Yes; there are crazies in real life who could try to copy such a horrific act…but we can say that about much of the violence on this soap or many other forms of media out there). I’m not saying in real life these meds wouldn’t or couldn’t have harmed the baby…I just didn’t think that’s where the writers were going. I think it was more about Nina torturing Ava…getting her revenge… I again liken it to Kathy Bates/James Caan in Misery…or OLTL’s story regarding the kidnapping of Todd (Victor) by crazy Margaret. No; they didn’t involve babies but the stories were so psychologically twisted that, for me, they were uncomfortable to watch. And yet again…I thought it was great drama/performace.

As for Roger and his Franco…I didn’t see today’s (Thursday) episode yet…but from what I’ve seen so far, I’m glad he’s back! Carly and Sonny will hopefully get theirs…it’s a long time in the making…and I couldn’t be happier that Michael learned the truth.

    Shay replied

Oh yes, rebecca1, I do recall James Franco’s stint on GH….it put me off the show for at least a good year or more. I couldn’t bear to watch his cold-blooded barbarism either, so at least I’m consistent! Hence, even while I get RoHo’s Franco is supposed to be one and the same character portrayed by the original actor, he is now infused with much less darkness and evil, and more mirth and merriment, which is why he works for me when the former incarnation did not.. That difference also explains the reason that some of the crazies that plague Port Charles bother me to a much lesser extent than others. They are so broadly played with campy humor in far-fetched plots that there is nothing remotely literal about them….think Dr. O., Faison, the Cassadines, Jerry Jacks, even Heather…their foibles and farces are so fantastical that only the most mentally unbalanced amongst us could take their antics seriously. Those are the ones I can laugh along with and for the most part, enjoy….but reprobates like Nina, Ava, Sonny, Carly, Carlos, et al, are less palatable and tolerable to me because there are true-life counterparts to these characters out in our present-day world, and their deplorable deeds tend to reflect reality, even if they are depicted in a soapy, over-the-top fashion. In defending the presentation of such miscreants, you have previously made mention of “Misery” and other popular movie or television choices that also have featured extremely violent and/or disturbing storylines, and I agree, yes, they are out there and some people derive pleasure by watching them, but in doing so, they are purposely seeking out this particular form of gore and grossly inappropriate actions in said entertainment vehicles …they want to see exactly that. However, when those of us follow a particular soap opera, that is an entirely different matter. Many grew up viewing these programs and while there have been some pretty memorable moments of bad behavior in every show’s history, they have also been quite decently balanced with themes of romance, mystery, and touching family drama which have been part of our everyday lives for year upon year….most long-time fans did not sign up for the sort of debauchery and depravity that we now regularly seem to witness on GH. That distasteful content is precisely what I find troubling when it comes to the current Nina escapades and other recent examples of offensive offerings.

    rebecca1 replied

I hear you, Shay. I see both sides of the coin. I found James Franco’s rendition to be an interesting experiment for him…and thus…it was interesting for me to watch. I liked him at the time…actually more than I do now. (I’m talking what I’ve read and seen of him of late but that’s a whole other post/topic.) But I did find the story an “interesting ride” though it was quite the departure from GH or any other soap fare. I really like Roger…and I couldn’t see him in this role, which is why I was/am happy that they’ve made him more sane/human/empathetic. I’m loving him in this role and I see the humanity in him.

As for the Nina story, I see it, as I’ve now explained ad nauseum, LOL, (and I do believe the fans are divided on this) as the fictional/drama that it is. Had Ava’s torture gone on for days for weeks with assorted creepy, deranged torture, I don’t think I’d be tuning in. Or, maybe I would. Dunno. What I do know is it was short (if not sweet) and for me, it worked. I think Nina’s damaged, I understand why she is…and as uncomfortable as those scenes might have been I think they worked. They were tense and passionate and I could just feel Nina’s rage and desperation. Likewise, Maura’s Ava delivered the fear factor and her maternal instincts kicked in which also showed her in a more human light. Yes, we’ve seen her soft spot for her daughter and Morgan…but here she really thought of nothing for herself…just a desperate woman trying desperately, against all odds…to save her baby.

Soaps, particularly GH (well, OLTL also had cringe-worthy storylines) work because they can be campy, romantic, dramatic, violent, loving, funny, sad…on and on and on…all within a week due to the assorted characters and stories. I think sweeps really pulled out all the stops. ( And yes, it seems you and other just wanted to make it stop, ;) ..

I was, as you know, devastated by AJ’s death. I was not very comfortable during Michael’s rape scene..or the implication of one. I think these writers touch on a lot of uncomfortable subjects…but they do mix in the Lucys, Scottys, Dr. O, the Q’s…it’s just an eclectic mix.

Don’t get me wrong. I ‘ve posted this in my comments several times. I was disturbed watching Nina inject Ava. It was really, really uncomfortable and creepy to watch. At the same time…I understand this is the working of a sick mind…and in that sense I think it MADE sense for the story.

Thank you, Sandie!!! I applaud your vividly-expressed thoughts regarding all the maniacal mayhem being unleashed in Port Charles during sweeps, and particularly by the likes of the nauseating Nina Clay. Her entire “tale” has been laced with one disgusting and deplorable display of depravity after another, and much of it has really been an affront to anyone with a modicum of human decency….while I can sometimes find comedic value in GH’s application of dark humor and campy hijinks in their storylines, this last outre’ escapade ala Nina takes the cake for crossing the line into sickville. ….no circumstances are extenuating enough to excuse such behavior! (Not unlike the infamous “Crypt Tryst,” and incidentally, I was so gratified that Michael finally learned the hideous truth about it and expressed the same appalled reaction to it as I did!!!) I’m all for edginess and creativity when it comes to soap writing, but the current showrunners have made an unwelcome habit of pushing the envelope waaay too far.

If you remember Shay…James Franco’s Franco was as depraved as Nina…that was one twisted tale. But…I liked it! I don’t think Nina’s storyline has been “an affront to ANYONE with a modicum of human decency.” I think a lot of us have cringed and still enjoyed the intensity/pathos of the drama. Reactions are subjective just like anything in life, be it to a work of fiction or art or something experienced in reality. While no one would approve or applaud Nina’s actions, there are those of us who think her psychotic break is the culmination of everything she’s been through and a natural progression from when we were first introduced to her. Doesn’t mean we, the viewers who aren’t so morally outraged don’t think the entire thing is barbaric and abhorrent. It is. But it does mean we take it for what it is… a story about a deranged woman and a mob moll and their inevitable conclusion.

I can see him coming around eventually with Carly but the PTB need to play this out on the canvas for years with Sonny and Michael. It is too bad though, I used to rush home from school to watch my VCR recorded GH in the days of young love Lucky and Elizabeth. I watched as he threatened his life, hung him up on a meathook, belittled him, patronized him, condescended to him…making him out to be a pathetic excuse for a human being because he had a drinking problem…or disease…all the while Sonny a calculating killer.

I was thrilled when AJ returned to the canvas…I loved Sean Kanan and thought the resemblance between the two was perfect casting (though done after Sean had already left the show). I reveled in their bonding…I looked forward to Michael getting closer to AJ and the Qs and to finally realize that AJ wasn’t the monster that had to be ex-communicated from his life as Carly, Sonny and Jason had made him out to be. And then…bang, bang…Sonny shoots the only chance of any of that happening.

So. I’m thrilled that Michael (I HATE that Mikey thing Morgan has pinned on him) finally knows the truth and hope he shuns Sonny for a good long time to come. In AJ’s honor…

I guess I’ll settle for Michael pointing the gun at him, spewing all the venom he can muster thus killing Sonny emotionally…and being the one to bring him to justice. And yes, I’d LOVE to see Michael living in the mansion, taking his RIGHTFUL place.

@rebecca. Give it a rest. You always prolong and talk things to death. You are the one who is offensive. I do not capitalize out of anger…it is done for emphasis. Did you not take any METHODS OF WRITING classes in school? You phrase your writing in such a way that you make people feel less than. It does not affect me, albeit you try. I am way out of your league, Ma’am. Every time I or someone else comments, your comments always have to outdo ours.

You go as far as commenting on other soap sites which you do not watch, specifically searching for my posts. Then, you comment on my post….ONLY MY POST about something in which you know nothing…you said yourself you do not watch, but…..Remember, I called you on it. Strange. I hope this is the last of it. With all due respect, LEAVE ME ALONE.
You are now harassing me. I have no need to be angry, OKAY?????? Please, enough! I do respect my elders, Ma’am, so please reciprocate. Have a fantastic week- end. I know I will, with or without your nasty insults.

And CeeCee? Read what you just wrote to me. I seek YOU out? You’re the one who singled my views out on this Nina storyline…there are quite a few viewers and comments who weren’t as appalled as you…but I digress. You singled my comments out…accused me or attacked me by asking if I liked seeing pregnant women stuck with needles or whatever else it is that you lashed out…told me I made no sense to you…said something to the effect that “at least Su is consistent…you have no idea what my stance is…you went on and on and on. And my comments weren’t even in response to you! You are the one that went on a rampage to me! Read your own comments to me! Do you really not see how completely out of the blue and insulting you were!!!???

As for my words to you in the past…I’ve been nothing but pleasant to you. I’ve filled you on story lines, I complimented you before I saw this side of you…and I welcomed you to this site.

You have done repeatedly asked several people what they mean by their comments, you accuse them of something and then follow it up with, “if I misinterpreted, sorry.” (not verbatim.) You have repeatedly brought up your age and the fact that you’re oh-so-young. Do you notice that no one brings up age but you? How long are we supposed to see dear, sweet, young CeeCee who’s simultaneously everyone’s best bud and biggest fan…and then changes to dark and derogatroy when someone posts something she doesn’t like.

And I’m aware when this animosity toward me started. First I was affectionately dubbed, Becca. Then, I wrote to you a response about age..you had said Alexis was carrying on sexually and she’s not young…again, not verbatim…but I responded something about people don’t stop living, loving, have sex, etc because they’re in their 40s, 59s and beyond…and wow! The resentent from you was palpable through the screen. Please don’t tell me you haven’t “yelled” at others. I’ve read your comments…of course there are the complimentary ones to people who “send you”…and then there are the ones that get capped and you accuse them of whatever it is they’re saying that you don’t approve.

Stop with the “Ma’am. I think you’re a tad unhinged. Again, you posted to me, out of the blue and anyone with eyes who read what you initiated can see that. Stop twisting things and get a grip.

I’m sorry but I’m cracking up! I just “retorted” by putting myself down….ahahahaha….I misinterpreted, in the midst of our lively bitch fest…what your husband meant. Ohhhhhhhh…you mean you should call me because I should know? Hahhaha…I took it to mean I’m soooooo psychologically together that I’d be your shrink. Sigh. Okay. Don’t call me. Call a professional.

    Hey, Shay.
Thank you for equating me to someone you admire. When I read ‘nonna’ , for a second, I thought you were talking about my husband’s grandmother. Then, I shook my head and realized it would have been odd for Mina(my husband’s nonna) to be posting since she speaks no English….LOL. There must be a gazillion nonne( ‘e’ is the feminine plural, in Italian) in the world.

Okay, here we go. You already know how much I love Michelle Stafford. She is my favorite soap star, and, she still is….will always be. But, I must give credit where credit is due. Maura West outdid Michelle, IMO. Of course, Michelle’s execution of the Nina character was remarkable, albeit distasteful.
Nonetheless, despite her grand performance, I am so profoundly disappointed to see this staggeringly stunning thespian reduced to act as Grendel’s mother. I don’t want Beowulf to come along and slay Nina….LOL. ….is this the end for her? That’s what usually happens to rapacious predators; crazy, to boot.
Where else can Nina go? An asylum? Then again, everyone seems to get away with the worst dastardly crimes in Port Charles….so….
    ….Later, Shay…..anche tu sei mia amica….no school Tuesday…yeeessss !!!!!

Salve, CeeCee!….The particular “Nonna” in question was actually a lovely lady with the moniker of “Francesca” (Belissimo nome!)….in fact, she was a former (literature) teacher so she made references to great works of writing—not unlike yourself!!! Having said that, you are so right when you refer to the immense number of nonne here and across the sea!!! (I always first think of Lidia Bastianich’s mum Ermina when I hear that endearing term…LOL….) At any rate, both Francesca and her granddaughter, Alida (aka, FAS) were the most delightful of posters….I still miss their impressive comments! However, the fortunate thing about MFSoaps is that even when the sad time arrives to bid farewell to one’s favorites, it’s usually not too long before another unique individual comes along to fill the void that was left by creating their own indelible imprint on the website…..and most recently, that person would be you!!!! Hence, there is really no need for me to “equate” you to anybody else….I admire you for your own very original, captivating self, CeeCee!!! As I previously said, it was simply some of your observations and analyses, plus the way in which you so intelligently phrased them—as well as your sense of humor and highly moral stances—that were quite reminiscent of FAS’s…even certain likes and dislikes seemed strikingly similar …..she was gaga for “Nathan” too, and if memory serves, Sonny definitely did not “send her” either!!! (Haha….) Plus, there was the East Coast connection—she was based in Connecticut—not to mention your respective Italian families. Of course, there are also plenty of interesting differences, too….believe you me, you’ve displayed your own special style so as to make your posts the wonderful treats they are, CeeCee! As for the sordid sagas of Nina and Ava, I simply desire for Ms. Jerome to wrest back her baby from that obsessive oddball— STAT!….I absolutely cannot abide the thought of having to witness Mrs. Clay’s creepy caresses and iron-clad cleave upon that sweet little girl for months on end…what unspeakable lunacy will she next unleash? (Attempt to suckle “her” infant? Nina the Nutter is so deluded as to think this is her genuine offspring, so that is not an unimaginable possibility, is it? Paints a seriously disturbing picture….) All I can honestly state about MS’s character is that I can stand neither sight nor sound of her….those raving rants, sulking silences, shifty stares and self-satisfied smiles continue to repel me to no end. Every moment she appears onscreen is sheer torture for me….only when featured with Magda and/or Auntie Liesl is she even remotely bearable….and after today’s episode, it remains unclear as to whether this maniacal monster has actually committed matricide….how I hope not, as I am adoring Donna Mills as the wicked woman who actually produced this most appalling of creatures. Regardless, it appears that LaNina’s reign of terror has only just begun, although if I had my druthers, it would be curtains for her when November winds down…..alas, I cannot logically anticipate that happening at any point in the near future. We are undoubtedly stuck with this sanity-challenged psycho far beyond the sweeps season. Oh bene….buonanotte! Enjoy your brief respite from school!…..P.S. It sounds as though your better half, I mean, “marito” is equally as gifted in the ways of witticism!!!! ; )

Hey, Shay. I have been so out of touch …I feel disconnected from everyone…..mid-terms…remember those? Between staying after school giving my students extra help, correcting papers, family responsibilities etc….get the picture?
Yes, it is sad not to hear from past posters any longer….that’s why I hope jimh does get a chance to post. Funny how we do become attached to faceless people….one can assume much just by his/her writing….it’s wonderful.
I think I gave you the impression I was Italian…..I am actually a Dutch, Scottish and Norse descendant…..my Dutch side of the family traces back to the first Dutch settlers in New Amsterdam, now NY, as you well know. My husband is Italian, born in Boston….but, we live in Southampton, NY….still the east coast, but not CT….LOL.
I think I have made my feelings to you about this entire idiotic plot with Nina, known. I am not sure I ken what the TPTB’s intentions are. My disappointment in making Nina a lunatic and beyond is colossal. I am serious….my favorite soap star of all time , thusly reduced? How will she ever be sculpted into even a facsimile of a normal human being? I haven’t even caught up with this week’s episodes, so, perhaps there will be a hint of redemption?…..later.

Good evening, CeeCee! I hear you about the crazy busy….I’ve been rather disconnected myself over the past week…it’s this time of the year. I absolutely adore fall, and yes, even winter—-I’m a real snowbunny, unlike yourself—but from now until the end of December, it will just be insane trying to get it all finished. (I’ll bet your little man, Nico, is becoming excited about the approaching holidays? He is at the perfect age to finally “get” them….) Even though I have not had the time to post much as of late, I have been reading the threads, and you are so right about jimh’s glaring absence….I was truly saddened about his abrupt departure…it’s simply not the same without his sparkling contributions….or yours, either, might I add!!! Fingers crossed he shall return to the MF fold sooner rather than later. As for my reference to your Italian “famiglia,” I meant your husband and his kin…..I do recall some of your earlier comments about your own background….the Scottish and Norse relatives and their native tongues….but to be linked to the first of New York’s settlers…how fascinating! Speaking of “New Amsterdam,” did you ever watch the Fox television program a few seasons back by the same name? I loved it….Nicolaj Coster-Waldau starred in it and he was superb. Alas, the show did not survive for long. I also noticed you have mentioned Southampton before….what a lovely place to live. (Tell me, do you ever run into Victoria Grayson and Nolan Ross? Just kidding…they are my favorite characters from “Revenge.”) I’ve always considered the East Coast to be the center of the universe….I love the vibe, history, culture, sensibilities and four seasons…..just the whole deal. Hence, I tend to gravitate toward those posters who mention it as their place of residence…..first Alida and her Nonna, and now you!!!! As for the corner into which the showrunners have painted your beloved MS’s “Nina,” I cannot imagine any possible way to redeem that malevolent madwoman…she continues to get more and more out-of-hand, and it certainly has failed to be entertaining for me. I won’t spoil the recent developments in her ongoing, appalling “saga” for you, but suffice to say, it hasn’t been pretty, and I am sure it will get much worse before it can take any sort of turn for the better. (In other words, I remain wholly unimpressed with this nefarious nutjob….she is completely vile and repugnant.) At any rate, it was a delight to hear from you, CeeCee!….Enjoy your well-deserved weekend, and do keep in touch, particularly after you catch up with GH! It is always a treat to correspond with you! Later, my friend….
