Part one of the General Hospital Nurses Ball 2015 was jam-packed with action!
First, let’s start with the red carpet arrivals and who wore it best: Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) , Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms), and Valerie Spencer (Brytni Sarpy) topped our choices, but all the ladies and gents of Port Charles stepped up their fashion game for the annual fundraiser to raise money and awareness for HIV/AIDS research.
Meanwhile Britt (Kelly Thiebaud), who snuck back into Port Charles wanted to watch the red carpet arrivals with bestie Brad Cooper (Parry Shen) as she had done last year. The duo watched all the glamour from Brad’s TV set, but were bummed at first that no one had a red carpet faux pas!
But alas, Britt and Brad’s gleeful moment came when Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) accidentely stepped on Maxie’s dress, just as Nathan (Ryan Paevey) walked with Ellie (Emily Wilson) as his date. Brad and the Britch watched the fall with delight over and over again via the remote control!
As the Nurses Ball began, the traditional opening number went off without a hitch until it came to its conclusion. Next, Dr. Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) once again held the audience hostage ,but this time with her rendition of “99 luftballoons” (red balloons) the popular hit tune from back in the 80′s! Obrecht took joy at popping each of the red balloons along the way, while she sang. The reaction from the those in attendance was particularily hilarious, especially that of hostess with the mostess, Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) who was horrified! Once Lucy was able to get Obrecht off the stage, the night continued with Ric (Rick Hearst) set to get Elizabeth to marry him by serenading her with the tune “Marry You” complete with images of their past together. After Molly (Haley Pullos) gave Elizabeth a ring from her dad to open during his performance, and after Ric began to sing, it was Carly (Laura Wright) who pulled off her plan to out Rick’s heinous plot. With the help of actor Pete, Carly walked out on stage, busted up the song, and Pete revealed that he was paid by Ric Lansing to pose in the faux wedding photos to Hayden making it look like Jake (Billy Miller) had plastic surgery. Carly then continued to unravel Hayden (Rebecca Budig) and Ric’s scheme before a packed house at the Nurses Ball! Next, Elizabeth stormed off and later slapped Ric for his duplicity.
Trying to get the audience to calm down and get back into the groove and fun of the ball, Lucy was able to get Brad Cooper to come up to the stage and perform a musical number. Brad decided to perform an upbeat version of “Marry You”, but there was a surprise awaiting his date and boyfriend Lucas Jones (Ryan Carnes) at the end of the performance. Brad proposed marriage to Lucas! Will Lucas say “yes”?
Britt, after learning Spencer (Nicolas Bechtel) was badly burned in a fire, went to visit him at Wyndemere and gave him the courage to change his mind and show up at the Nurses Ball. Spencer is now on his way to try to be with the girl he loves, Emma (Brooklyn Rae Silzer), who is at the ball with Cameron (Michael Leone).
But it was the conclusion of the episode that came as a shocker! Nikolas (Tyler Christopher) went to find Elizabeth after what happened with Ric. When he was talking to her, all Elizabeth could think about was Jake, and being with him, and how much he loved him. But Nicholas blurted out that she can’t be with Jake, because … he is really Jason!
