At the end of last week’s episodes of General Hospital, the ABC soap opera kicked into high gear as May Sweeps is upon us! And talk about dancing on someone’s grave, err, crypt!
The set up had Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) who inappropriately attended AJ’s funeral at the request of son Michael (Chad Duell), still overcome with guilt for shooting Michael’s bio-father and his cover-up. After Sonny tells Michael he is not going to go back inside to the Quartermaines post-funeral, because it is just not right to do to Monica (that’s for sure!), Sonny ventures into the Quartermaine crypts/mausoleum where all of the dead Q’s are housed.
Ava (Maura West)), who had ran off after mistaking Morgan comforting daughter Kiki (Kristen Alderson) at the Q’s as something more, also lands inside the Quartermaine mausoleum, and sees Sonny is there too! That sets the stage for some very dark and heavy emotional purging of by these two about their misdeeds and their troubled lives!
And if you want to see two actors at their finest, look no further than the amazing work of Daytime Emmy winners, Maurice Benard and Maura West in these scenes. Viewers knew it was a long time coming that somehow Sonny and Ava would end up having sex, but when and what would precipitate it was the question! And in their self loathing, and trying to escape the evil deeds they have done to others, Sonny and Ava begin to have sex in the crypt!
After their moment of escape from their messed-up lives, and trying to reinforce to each other that this act will never happen again by stating Ava loves Morgan (Bryan Craig) and Sonny loves Olivia (Lisa LoCicero), who should stumble upon them in the crypt but Morgan who figures out what just went on! His father had sex with his “girlfriend”! Morgan heads out to tell Olivia! Later, Sonny shows up at the Metro Court right before Morgan is going to spill the beans! We fade to black and now will have to wait till tomorrow to see what happens!
So, what did you think of Sonny and Ava’s crypt sex? What did you think of the performances of Maurice Benard and Maura West? Let us know!
