83 May 26th, 2017 GH Nurses’ Ball 2017 Part Three: The Emotional Conclusion On Lives Lost; While Lives Are On The Line!

Courtesy/ABC

The third and final installment of the GH Nurses’ Ball 2017 brought with it an emotional ending, juxtaposed with two major cliffhangers, as well as performances of songs from the late David Bowie and George Michael who passed away last year.

In story, after Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) admits to Anna (Finola Hughes) that he sold the chimera to Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers), and that he did it for dollars to help pay for his reconstructive surgery and to set him up financially and for freedom, Anna pleads with him to let him know if he knows where it is. He tells Anna to stay out of his life and to go to Cassadine Island if she wants to retrieve it.  Valentin won’t discuss this any further with Anna as he wants to make things right with his wife, Nina (Michelle Stafford).

Meanwhile, Jake (Hudson West) sees Charlotte (Scarlett Fernandez) and Emma (Brooklyn Rae Silzer) playing with the chimera canister and orders them to stop!  He even gets testy about it which Nina witnesses.

Sonny (Maurice Benard) has told Carly (Laura Wright) someone tampered with Morgan’s meds leading up to his last manic episode, as Curtis (Donnell Turner) surprises Jordan (Vinessa Antoine) with a key to his hotel room!

Onstage, Lisa LoCicero (Olivia) showed her singing and dancing prowess along with her on-screen love Wally Kurth (Ned) as their characters performed “Faith” by George Michael.

Anna has now made her way inside the ball and in front of Jason (Billy Miller), Liz (Rebecca Herbst), Andre (Anthony Montgomery) and Franco (Roger Howarth) reveals that the chimera is a biotoxin that was sold to Helena Cassadine! Jason is very worried as backstage Jake hides the chimera inside his magic trick box.

Now inching closer to the truth, Sonny and Carly corner Lucy (Lynn Herring) outside the ballroom where she admits she saw Ava (Maura West) throwing out the pill bottle in question in the trash, and that’s how she found out that Ava and Morgan were having an affair again!  Scott overhears the conversation and runs to Ava to let her know Sonny is on to her.  Meanwhile, she is about to take the stage due to her generous donation in Morgan’s name for HIV/AIDS research.

Kiki (Hayley Erin) is able to get out of her shift at GH and shows up and surprises Dillon (Robert Palmer Watkins) at the last minute to be a part of his performance of David Bowie’s “Modern Love”.  Robert Palmer Watkins delivered an entertaining number as a geek nerd transforming for the woman he loves.

All roads have come together for Sonny and Carly as they have figured out Ava is the one who switched Morgan’s pills. When Lucy introduces Ava to make her generous donation, she is MIA.  Ava had hightailed it to the warehouse to get some cash, and a passport and to get out of the country.

Backstage, Helena Cassadine appears and tells Jake he did not keep up his end of the bargain.  She then adds to the little boy to make all of Port Charles disappear with his magic act.

It’s time for the grand finale and a somber Lucy announces its time for the closing number of the Nurses’ Ball.  Epiphany (Sonya Eddy) and the other nurses perform Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.”  The performance is done with remembrance of those who have lost their lives to AIDS, with candles encasing the stage and candles for the audience.

In one of the most heartfelt moment’s of the ball, Robin (Kimberly McCullough) appears on a monitor on-stage speaking to the attendees that while we have made strides there is more that can be done to help the fight against HIV and AIDS.  She says she is grateful to not only be alive, but expecting her second child. The audience is extremely moved as they gather around the stage as the cast including a hankie-moment shot of Genie Francis (Laura) honor those we have lost.

GH ends the ball with one of their effective trademarks, cutting from the action at the ball and matching it in story with the song lyrics onstage as we witness: Ava packing a gun as Sonny and Carly find her, Curtis sweeping Jordan into his arms as the two are finally going to make love, and finally, Jake appears and tells his mother, Elizabeth, that he is ready to do his magic act now. We fade to black.

What did you think of the final installment of the GH Nurses’ Ball 2017? Were you moved by the closing number? Are you excited to see how the chimera and the Ava storylines develop? What was your favorite moment in the final episode this year? Comment below!

Some of it was an improvement-music over last year but it didnt feel anything like a real fundraiser…and Monica and Lucas not there-people connected to the hospital? but of course Sonny/Carla and Nina had to be with all their drama?…No Dr. Liesel played by an actress with musical talent???…it was better than last year with some good music but one who never tuned in before wouldnt know it was an aids fundraiser..i would liked the opening been a black and white set of the original nurses station with the old theme and characters acting like Steve, Jesse and Audrey-it begins real serious then burst into song…and as i said a million times before a partially live fundraiser raising real money, and bids on soap props ect.,stories about aids victims to get the message across and i would like to see some stage acts like a spoof of Empire and other popular tv shows. and stage musical like Dirty Dancing and Footloose ect…but the ball still had some good entertaining moments!!!

Devastating, Shay., no Dr. O….another one gone….another one bites the dust ( my beautiful Freddie).
Is KG on her way out?

On another note, Shay; the Chimera symbol is finally starting to make sense. As I had said, a Chimera is an illusion, made up of many parts, I likened it to Frankenstein’s monster–made of many different ‘human parts’. Anna told Andre that Valentin’s explosive creation consisted of many strains, thus, the name Chimera.
    I am, somewhat, pacified. LOL.

Tell me about it, jimh!!!! I’m still totally steamed that the highly-artistic skills of Miss Kathleen Gati were once again ignored in favor of more amateurish acts….This woman is a phenomenally talented performer and should be given a platform for sharing both her acting and musical gifts whenever possible!

Valentin telling Anna to take a hike and not look back?
No, seriously. I thought Robin’s speech on HIV was very moving, albeit I did not watch when she and her then, boyfrind ( was it Stone?) went through a very dark time.
It was the best conclusion to ‘celebrating life’ by raising money, the reason for the Nurses’ Ball.

Honestly, the only NB “appearance” I thoroughly enjoyed was Helena’s! I still hope we will see her—sooner rather than later—”somewhere, out there!” Perhaps on Cassadine Island????

That was a nice touch with Robin’s taped appearance, CeeCee, which leads me to suggest that next year if the showrunners once again feel compelled to put on this extremely pared-down event, how about more of those video cameos from those too many unheard from legacy characters we still know and love??? It would seem at this point to be a pipedream to ever have them actually revisit Port Charles in the flesh, but even a filmed update from our old favorites would be better than nothing, and shouldn’t put too much of a dent in the obviously reduced budget.

Celia, The 90′s was when General Hospital was on fire, with Sonny and Brenda, Ned and Lois, the Quartermaine’s, and Robin and Stone. If you are interested and have the time, watch a few segments on YouTube of Robin and Stone. I wish that the TPTB did a few flashbacks of Robin and Stone during this year’s Nurse’s Ball, especially since Robin was not really able to attend. Their love story and his death was told so beautifully. Claire Labine was a writer and producer then, I believe. During her era, the show was just unstoppable.

Thank you so much, dmr. That’s what I hear…GH had the best cast, at that time, and the most thrilling stories.
I did ‘educate’ myself some, but, as the old adage goes, “you hadda be there”, albeit Shay is the greatest narrator. She’s my main source. LOL.

I’m still wondering where all this Valentin stuff is headed, too, CeeCeeGirl!….So many questions, so few answers! I made mention on a different thread of the need for Nik’s return since his absence leaves a huge hole in the Cassadine clan’s saga( in response to one of your posts about Tyler Christopher…hope it makes it online! I swear, I have written so many detailed replies to you over the past few days in reference to certain characters, and practically none has materialized. Ditto for those sent to Timmmbo…..you two must think I’m ignoring you, but I’m not!!!!) As for Sean Bean, he’s been featured in a myriad of UK dramas, but you may know him from “Game of Thrones”…I don’t watch that particular series myself, but so many do, and he just began a new BBC show set in Ireland called “Broken” in which he plays a priest…looks interesting! As for the Christie movie, it was very entertaining and kept me on my toes with my brain fully engaged….Aidan was quite polished, omnipresent and even had a nice revealing “towel scene” which easily rivaled the famous scything one in “Poldark,” so that may spur you on to tracking down that tv film! LOL….(By the way, I hear “Ross” will be keeping pretty covered up this season, as there are two new young hunks to rival his established “sex-symbolism,” plus, by Turner’s own admission, he is not quite so buff these days….just saying!) Anyway, sounds like your gran, “Fiona,” has a broad knowledge of all that British tv programming has to offer…perhaps she has already seen this particular Christie adaptation! It first ran around Christmas 2015…Later, mia amica!

    Shay replied

@CeeCee….These days I find nothing about GH to be cohesive or pacifying…it’s just one sorry mess after another!!! Although I initially had high hopes for James Patrick Stuart’s Valentin and whatever mystery and mayhem he could possibly bring to the GH canvas, I’m now just as bored with his saga as all the others….especially since he was tethered to the downright unnecessary Nina instead of playing up on the obvious, off-the-charts chemistry he shared with Finola Hughes and her Alex/Anna duo. Soooo…basically we’re still stuck at status quo. But speaking of that Mary Shelley creation, there was an excellent British miniseries featuring the incredible Sean Bean entitled “The Frankenstein Chronicles.” Very moody and atmospheric…I’d recommend it if you are so inclined toward that sort of thing. Also, since I know you love Poldark’s Aidan Turner, I must also suggest the 2015 adaptation of Agatha Christie’s “And Then There Were None.” I just watched it (again) last week, and it was very gripping and suspenseful…it also starred the impressive Charles Dance and the dishy Douglas Booth, who I adore! Alas, his was the first character killed….but shhhh, don’t tell anybody! Don’t want to spoil the fun! (By the by, Poldark, Season Three begins across the pond in just a few days!)

I feel you, Shay. I was content with where the Valentin story was going, but, the confusion still persists in my head. I must have a mental block.
I am having a hard time following where all this is going? Is Valentin a bad guy or not? Was Nik’s death contrived, with Valentin as an accomplice? Was it all for show?
And, now he is off to jail? Yet, Anna feels remorse for his plight? But, but, but….didn’t he just help abort/stop the Chimera’s dissemination of its bio-chemical poison? That should count for something!!

Moving on…LOL. Thank you for the info, Shaybelle. I am familiar with Sean Bean, ‘in passing’, because of Fiona, my grandmother…she is into all her British programming.
I do love ‘Poldark’….I try to catch up as much as I can. But, I will check out “And Then There Were None’….eerie omen, that, LOL.
    Later, bella.

The incredibly talented KG gets almost no storyline all year long and her one chance to shine and to strut her stuff is the Nurse’s Ball. What a waste.
I am not only disappointed for us viewers, I am disappointed for her. She must have been so sad about not being included.

Steve, Sonny’s actions are always justified. Remember when Carly drugged AJ and poured vodka all over him and left him in an alley? Somewhat similar to what Ava did to Morgan. Ava used Morgan’s illness to try to cause him to have a breakdown. Carly used AJ’s illness to also benefit herself. Yet, Sonny and Carly conveniently forget all of their past transgressions. Honestly, Morgan was such a useless character. He was an entitled, spoiled brat. Saint Sonny, the wonderful father that he is, slept with his son’s lover, and killed his other son’s biological father.

I know most all enjoyed the the dance and song and I’m glad you enjoyed it.

Loved seeing Helena once again! I wish she will have some great scenes but I doubt that will happen :(

A good thing; the pill story is at its end I can only hope the mourning of Morgan will finally end, also.
Ava had better come out of this strong and hard in Carly face. Ava needs a win.

    The chimera story– total fail.
It is empty of Suspense, Intrigue and not one Intense moment.
the chimera canister is total death yet there is no hard drama.
It is bland considering its supposedly death for all without one intense on the edge moment. LOL only 2 writers could turn a massive world ending death story into a snooze LOL ..

    I’m cheering Ava on !!
    Luvin Valentin and Nina
hoping Carly will be gettin bitchslaped
And it would be awe if the death canister got opened, but it won’t be opened so no thrill there LOL .

You’re right, su. The Chimera story was a debacle. Obviously, it isn’t going to go off. There still is a lot of confusion surrounding Jake and Helena. If she’s in Jakie’s head; if he’s hypnotized or in the arms of Morpheus ( as I mentioned in a dream-like-state), who sent him the canister?
Well, at least the name makes sense to me, now. Is this the end of it? The writers can’t simply leave it like this, can they? Sure they can. They did just that with Flukie Lukie.

Just how many evil characters can TPTP put on one show?

    Reply

    Shay replied

At least Liesel is “exquisitely evil,” Nancy! (On par with Constance Towers’ icy cold Helena!) Kathleen Gati shows how it should be done, and she also has demonstrated impressive comedic chops and immense musical skills. This lady is one talented and versatile performer and why she has been allowed to languish away in the GH “records room” instead of seeing some action front-and-center on the small screen is a question that really begs to be asked-and-answered, especially in light of the fact she has been unceremoniously denied a richly-deserved place on the NB stage for two consecutive years running.

  9. Mary SF says:

Overall one of the better NB’s- so glad did not have to see men in their underwear — my main pet peeve was the editing. For example we had Valentin and Anna having this really dramatic conversation back stage– then there is this musical number and Anna is sitting there beside Andre smiling away during the performance— then commercial then Anna and Valentin are backstage still in conversation–

another one was Sonny just tells Carly that Morgan pills were tampered– commercial– musical act– Sonny and Carly are there smiling enjoying the number– commercial– back to the conversation– Really Carly finds out the pills are tampered with and she is going put all that on hold while someone sings a song? Same with Elizabeth overhearing Anna mention the Chimera– stop– musical number and they just all sit there watching– commercial then back to the action as if the musical number never interrupted– it made no sense–So if there’s a NB next year I just like to see the editing between the numbers and the plot be better– someone keeping track of where this number is going to be edited into the action and who or who shouldn’t be the audience at that point—

    Reply

    nancy dillingham replied

Yes, as I said, WAY too choppy.
One question: why did Lucy stand in the audience rather than on the “stage” most of the time? And, oh boy, what a paucity of audience.

Yes, it should be a show ONLY and no storylines!

    Reply

    Mary SF replied

That’s a even better idea– have one episode focused solely on the performances instead of dragging it out three days– avoid all the silly stop and go, stop and go which results in problems in continuity– from your lips to FV ear’s — show only will make the whole NB far more enjoyable as a once a year treat and break from the “drama”

  10. rebecca1 says:

I don’t know; I think the show in general has been really, really good…I’m enjoying the entire chimera story and the intertwined stories. The nurses ball however…was lacking for me. Seemed like less entertainment than in the past. Individually, I liked all the numbers. I was a little disappointed in Kiki/Dillon. They were soooo cute together last year. This year Kiki did nothing but dance around Dillon. Would have liked them to have interacted more. Also missed seeing Franco, Liz, Sam, Molly, Griffin up on stage. Seems like they just skimped on the acts. Very impressed, though, as always by the immense talent of the cast. LOVED Ned & Olivia! (He’s still got his Eddie Mane goin’ on!)

Another great episode of GH! Chock full of huge story drama and more delightful performances and sweeps worthy cliffhangers. Bravo to everyone involved for giving us another memorable Nurses Ball!

“Modern Love, Walks beside me, Modern Love, Walks on by, Modern Love, Gets me to the Church on Time, Church on Time, Terrifies me, Church on Time, Makes me party, Church on Time, Puts my trust in God and Man, God and Man, No confessions, God and Man, No religion,God and Man, Don’t believe In Modern Love”

Woo-Hoo! My favorite pop song by David Bowie being performed by my favorite younger couple on GH in many moons. Kiki to Dillon: Get a move on, DQ! She arrived just in nick of time to surprise him. Killon delivers for the second straight year with a fun, upbeat, endearing feelgood performance. I was singing and dancing along with them in my living room! Dead serious! I am not one of those Bowie fans that freaks out by every cover out there of his songs. This was very enjoyable and worked well within the context of a fictional soap opera. Robert Palmer Watkins sounded good on that track (btw: we gotta get this dude on DWTS this fall) and Hayley Erin was dancing up a storm. Loved all things Kiki and Dillon on this day! The soapy longing that they were doing before their number, the joyful exuberance they showed after their number, and the sweet scene with their arms around each other watching back at the hospital. Killon always makes me happy and smile! This is such a likeable refreshing couple with a playful youthful energy that the show really needs. They shine and spark together. They laugh and joke together. They build each other up.

Ned Quartermaine is in the house! Loved that this was the first public revealing of his new last name! Tracy’s boys have some good voices, don’t they? Ned and Olivia is another pairing that just fits like a glove. I can’t wait to see them lead the family into the future. Wally nailed it again for the fourth straight year (Crazy little thing called love is still my favorite from 15) and Lisa had great stage energy to bring it all together. Now, this better not be Ned and Olivia’s last appearance for a while, they have been rebuilt well in the last three months so let’s not lose that momentum. Admittedly, I am a huge fan of Wham as a duo and George
Michael’s solo career, but Faith was never one of my favorite of his dance pop songs. I have always preferred Freedom 84, I’m your Man, and Wake me up the best from his Wham years. I am pretty much split between Monkey and Faith in terms of dance pop from his solo debut 30 years ago.

I liked the touching beautiful closing number with Epiphany, Felix, Amy, Bobbie, etc (despite the fact I have grown tired of hearing ““Hallelujah.”
everywhere I turn the last ten years) and was happy that they made a fitting tribute to Robin with a video message.

Love that Nina is on the way back to Valentin! She joined him at the table with Charlotte and all three went up on the stage together at the end. Viva Valina! I liked that Nina was there to comfort Charlotte after Jake pushed her. She ran to Valentin the second he came backstage.

Jordan and Curtis do nothing for me as a couple. I feel they are lacking in substance to ever last long in a relationship and don’t bring out the best in each other.

The kids could play hide and go seek underneath Lulu’s dress.

Okay, I am starting to think that might really be Helena with Jake, did you see the shadow when she stepped out of the light? Jason has been the only one who’s been having hallucinations of Helena cause I don’t remember it ever happening to Jake. Obviously, she is inside his head with some type of mind control, but you can’t rule anything with the Dragon Lady showing up alive and well. Valentin telling Anna over and over that the person he sold the Chimera to is now dead. Foreshadowing? I have been thinking this whole time that Costa (delivery man of the magic kit with toxin in cannister) was carrying out a final wish of Helena’s before she died to torment PC one last time. The trigger word is clearly “little man” when it comes to the Chimera. Jake’s reaction to Costa saying it and now Helena saying it to Jake was like a flipped switched instead his head. Jake: Mom, I am ready to do my magic show. Creepy! Poor kid has been through hell.

Yes! Carly and Sonny know the truth and just busted Ava at that warehouse! She already had a bag packed with clothes, money, and a gun to leave the country. Typical! Ava was gonna leave Kiki and Avery behind and never look back. We have two grieving parents confronting the woman who put their son’s death into motion by the unimaginable act of tampering with his bipolar meds. What an explosive premise. The most anticipated confrontation in a long time is going down later today! I can’t wait to see Maurice, Laura, and Maura rock the hell out of these scenes. Loved seeing Carson come together once again to figure everything out like the great team they are when it comes to their kids. Biological or not. I liked the way the light bulb went off in Carly’s head, with seeing Kiki and Dillon so happy together walking past them, and she realized that was Ava’s strongest motive to send Morgan crashing. Loved all the scenes on this day concerning the Morgan pill reveal. Scott: Ava did feel bad about what she did. Sonny: TOO LATE!!! Woah! I was glad that Sonny roughed up Scott and that Carly threw Bobbie in his face. Ava’s very cryptic words to Kiki “felt” like their last interaction together.

Robert Palmer Watkins is fantastic! I think he’s got a great voice as evidenced by last year and this year (and his own music). He blew this number out of the park! The boy can dance too!!! I still think, though, this didn’t showcase “kiki’s” talents. She’s gorgeous, adorable, evokes joy when she smiles that dimpled smile. And I agree, they light up the room! But, just watched the clip again. It was “Dillon’s” number. And I don’t think dancing is Erin Hayley’s strong suit. I think “Dancing In The Street” would have been a great number…where they could both sing…and then have the rest of the cast dancing all over the stage in a joyous tribute!

I could watch the clip over and over again, though…for “Dillon.”

love that Maura West … when she shines and has the emotional beats with; Kiki and Avery. nothing better

Amazing post, Jay Trotter. You never disappoint. As I said, Ava, Carly and Sonny are criminals—I see no difference within the inner recesses of these blood-sucking characters.
But, as artists, I have yet to find a match running shoulder to shoulder with Maura.

And so, the redemption of Valentin starts. All he needed was a bullet through his viscera: behold a hero!!
I can’t say I’m not happy. Go Valentin!!

I think Jason a d Valentin should partner up in fighting crime. They were soectacular together at the NB.
Well, it’s a thought; and, it would be a step forward; not two-steps back as the brilliant, rusty brass (pardon the oxymoron) inhabiting the PCPD routinely take.

Tradition was broken — Lucy kept her clothes on. As great as LH looks, perhaps it was finally time.

Why don’t we get a bedroom scene with Curtis and Jordan? I’d rather see them go at it than Sonny and a day player.

They seem to be going in the no clothes off for anybody as witnessed by the lack of Magic Milo dancers, too.

Lucy has a great body for any age! But the “act” got played out. I think, from the small sampling here that viewers might have been happy that the male dance routine was cut, but I liked it. There was justification for it in that it was a traditional (well, I think it’s just been a few years…not sure) dance number that was sexy yet all in good fun. Lucy’s dress always coming off for silly reasons just seemed tacky after the first time (though cute).

Curtis is great looking and has a fantastic personality! Strong, sensitive, protective, loyal friend, hip/funky, funny…he could have had great chemistry if they’d just give VALERIE SOME AIRTIME! I have no idea why they introduced this character out of the blue to just drop her out of existence! She’s been connected to the Spencer family, we still don’t know who her father is, she’s gorgeous and the two would make a striking couple! Still, they dropped her, never developing her character. Another wasted opportunity.

As for Jordan. I first saw this actress on a great Canadian show, “Being Erica.” She, too, can bring it! If they’re going to stick with this couple they need to up their game..their airtime.

I actually liked the “day player.” LOL. I think the actress was striking in both looks and acting. If not for Sonny, they should bring her back for Griffin.

Once the affair with Dante ended, they seeed to forget that Valerie is a Spencer. One scene of her sitting at the table with Bobbie and Carly would have sufficed. BS is quite stunning and Valerie had lots of story potential, but since he arrived, it always seemed that Curtis and Jordan are end game.

I’m so glad.. there are posts that enjoy Valerie

seriously.. I thought between her and Kiki… hotted it out.

the writers along with Frank… just nixed Valerie character

i’d much rather have seen her and Curtis make a go of it

at least these were new characters who caught on

Afraid TPTB are going to make them boring–like they do all other couples.

I agree with you, Steve, re Valerie. This Spencer girl is in limbo. Why not explore her past; her paternity? As uninforment and ignorant as I am on GH’s history, I would love following that storyline.
TPTB have enough Spencers in their collective laps; get busy…I’d rather watch that than follow an elusive, pointless Chimera story.
I assume all the mythical hoopla was a means to connect Valentin to Helena? Was he under her influence when he shot Nik ( if he’s really dead) and Kevin? Where is he, anyway? Laura is so patient. LOL.

this dime store “B” movie has got to stop

the recriminations threats and play on words as voiced ( roaring laugh out loud ) by GH top draw the lackey and dullard , however they imagine their star… Sonny and Carly.

    PUKE

will someone please fork over… some extra cache for Sonny to .. at the bare minimum… NO MORE SEX SCENES, ever… get him an upper lip. it’s a farcical cartoon to watch him he man how on top, only he, thinks, Sonny lords.

this is an insult to , whom i’m reminded of when… I see Sonny.. with his steely penetrations. stare downs of mobster. Nick Tortelli, recurring character on “Cheers” played by the super funny Dan Hadeya. how can you take Sonny serious ? he’s a caricature of himself.

as for Carly – whew this is fun

the tumultuous character… of Carly evolved and turned wildly and with abandon… and forever etched the original tour de force… has left the building… years ago. Sarah Joy Browne will forever be the leading lady Carly .

it’s not the best reel when a character gets married and plays motherhood for all it’s worth.

Laura Wright is trotted out… for emotional beat… to help Sonny lame ass mumble.

there is no rhyme or reason for keeping on Sonny and Carly. the … bible.. that they continue to be the end all and be all. at the expense… of the best cast in daytime. ‘uck. what’s the point of serial when every other character who interacts with them… are killed off, waylayed, dissed, and left by the wayside.

I did not enjoy and found it boring.. to watch Carly and Sonny attack Ava… if this is the culmination and high pitched effort , the best these two could do?

Maura West tore these two up.

watching Maura.. and this is in high regard… and respect for this lady craft. she so reminds me of my best actress… Jessica Lange. dang it. Maura acts with the same subtleties and nuances , context, with an awareness of the whole arena.

after today show… if GH dares to muck up the character of Ava… at the expense of how lame F/J/S and their favorite brand names .

    Sonny / Carly / Jason / Sam / Finn / Hayden / Michael / Nelle / Franco

imagine this show without them. every story and premise of this show is built around them.

this is a waste land in and of itself… yet ALL the rest of the cast. high yield

I loved Morgan! I hated that Ava replaced his pills; but I LOVE Ava, too! And I understood, as completely, totally, indisputably and despicably wrong as she was to change out his lithium…why she did it. She was desperate to see her daughter happy! Kiki was almost killed for taking a bullet for Morgan. She was threatened when he lost it and took her to the cabin (not intentionally to harm her but while experiencing an episode). Point is…Ava did no more than Carly did to AJ back in the day! Carly STOLE Michael from AJ and thought it safer to raise him in the mob! She knew Sonny put him up on a meat hook! She doused a recovering-alcoholic AJ with alcohol and left him in a heap so he and everyone around him would think he was drinking again! AJ had been devastated over and over again by both Carly AND Sonny! Why? To protect “their” child! But when Ava did the same thing to protect her daughter…Carly calls her “evil?” She’s all up in her indignation? Paleeeez!!! Ava should have thrown that back in their smug faces! Oh! Isn’t Carly similarly trying to keep Michael away from Nell? (She’d probably stoop to any means if she could…at least before Nell’s attack) to keep Michael from Nell. But…she accused Ava of interfering in Kiki’s life because Kiki is grown up? UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two, three wrongs don’t make a right. But don’t stand there glowering in your high ‘n mighty selves always accusing others of doing what you’ve done over and over again. Beyond intolerable to even hear it played out. Do they even remember Sonny threatening to kill AJ over Michael…KILLING AJ? Covering it up? But they stand there like they can’t fathom what Ava did???!!!!

Yes. I get it. They’re Morgan’s parents. Of course it’s understandable. Logical. As it should be…their rage. But they have no sense…some nagging sense…some teaching moment when they think….”We did the same thing to AJ!” Over and over again and over again…

Carly is the biggest hypocrite in PC. She and Sonny did horrendous things to AJ with little remorse.

Even looking at it from another angle, after seeing all Ava has done (including playing a key role in AJ’s death), Carly should now realize AJ wasn’t THAT bad in hindsight.

Poor Avery, everyone related by blood has done some horrible things (except cousins Lucas and Leo). Reserve time with Dr. Maddox. (Oh wait, that didn’t work so well for her brother)

When Ron C left, the edict from Varni and Valentini was that MB and LW were the stars of the show. Michael quickly reverted to Sonny’s milquetoast lapdog and Dante again turned a blind eye to his father’s misdeeds.

One of the best things Ron did during his tenure was his approach to the Sonny character. For a good while, Sonny played a supporting role in Connie’s story. While the decision to kill AJ for the final time was misguided, the payoff of the fractured relationship of Sonny and Michael was well written and acted. Sonny even went to Pentonville, albeit for a very short stint.

No….she had excellent chemistry with Kevin and if his character can’t find his way back to Port Charles, let’s just leave her to her own devices for a bit longer until a suitable match can be found. After Luke and Scotty, this character needs a dashing Scorpio-like dude (you know, like actually Robert Scorpio!) or maybe a successful businessman…solid and respectable!

I like that, “to covfefe is divine”. The soaps should adopt that new word? A gaffe? LOL.
Perfect for all things criminal; especially for Sonny–on whom will he blame his future trials and tribulations? I wonder if he does “coffee” business with the Macedonians?
    Channeling Alexander The Great, Shay.

Lest I forget, how well Sonny slithered himself a’ sang froid, out, as to why he was in Ava’s hospital room, with Griffin……takes honed talents of manipulation, n’est-ce pas?

And, while I am on the subject of French? Why does Valentin speak the language to Charlotte? The kid never answers in kind. She does so in English. Hmmm, I wonder why?? LOL.

    rebecca1 replied

Andre? I still think they might get him together with Anna. Or at least that’s where the attraction seemed to be when they first gave us Andre/Jordan/Anna. Anna seemed interested; Andre seemed drawn but ultimately fell for Jordan.

As for “solid and respectable”…can’t get much more of that than in Andre.

JELLY did it, the Nurses Ball was good and sometimes great! ALL the musical numbers were great! I loved JPS’s rendition of an album cut from Billy Joel. BUT, I equally loved Wally and Lisa singing “Faith.” AND Robert Palmer and Haley doing David Bowie was awesome! I am probably in the minority but I didnt miss Lisel or the hunks stripping. The side stories were lame. Amy and Nathan talking together was just to give them something to do. Paul should have killed Amy and Nathan should be off camera with Maxie. Speaking of killing, my hope is that Sonny, Carly and Ava ALL die in the fire. That way Avery has a chance in life and we can stop hearing about MORGAN!

How does Charlotte stay so thin? Every time we see Lulu interact with her, she pries her with sugar. After the NB, she mentions she has more cookies she ate on her last visit. When Lulu picked her up from school, they went to the MC for ice cream sundaes. And they first bonded over scones!

Valentin is no better, sending the girls for chocolate cake at the NB and buying them cookies at Kelly’s.
