The nurses ball should had been a partially live two hour special where viewers could call in and make donations or bid on soap props like Tracys painting which could had raised a lot of money!!!

hey thats a great idea, if they did that, they would prob get real advocates of hiv to appear on the show, like elton john and sharon stone auctioning items from the show.

OR they could have surprised us all and aired the live Emmys in a VERY short form..Announce the winner..say thanks..NEXT! All the space for drama would be a number or two..done and done.

And now a special episode of General Hospital..LIVE..IT’S THE DAYTME EMMYS..I WOULD HAVE BEEN FLOORED AND OVERJOYED.

This was an event that had relevance at one time. It was an event that was brilliantly restored 5 years ago…..but the past three attempts have been carbon copies of the last! Naked men have no place at a fundraiset for AIDS. Shall we feature a bunch of cigarette smokers at a benefit for Lung Cancer????

    Dan replied

Jenny, I’m not sure how men dancing in their underwear, not naked, let’s not be over dramatic now, have the same correlation to AIDS that cigarette smokers do to lung cancer. Care to explain that one?

  2. Charday says:

Please, Nathan and Griffin dancin’ without their shirts (and pants, for that matter!)! :-)

This is an AIDS fundraiser. Not a Fun Raiser!!! Learn what this is about!!

Agree! I can’t emagine any hospital fundraiser on the planet with male dancers/strippers. So lie class

  3. Suz tm says:

No need for the male dancers, really tacky with kids attending the ball. Enough already. Lucy can go too, a new host is needed

Amen to everything you said!…Time to put a fork in that overdone flaky flibbertigibbet act otherwise known as Lucy Coe. It ceased to be funny and charming many moons ago….oh wait, it never was!

Milo and his tacky dancers should have gone out the door with RC, as I assume it was his creation but perhaps it’s more the influence of FV.

Kathleen Gati (Liesl) and Wally Kurth (Ned) are highlights.

Unfortunately, after the ball, Epiphany and Felix will be returned to cold storage until next May.

Will Lucas be taken out of cold storage for this year’s Ball?

From what I’ve seen, Ryan Carnes (Lucas) doesn’t really seem to want to be on the show. If so, it’s a shame as he’s a legacy character who’s easy on the eyes.

Lots of story to tell for Lucas

    Shay replied

Yes, Yes, YES! to Kathleen Gati! Her Liesl O. could definitely do Bowie justice with her strangely offbeat, yet, absolutely phenomenal, talent!!!!!! As for Epiphany and Felix, the showrunners really missed the boat by “cold storing” both of these characters….they could have been the 21st century versions of GH’s Jessie Brewer and Amy Vining! (And it would have spared us all the insufferable Amy2, who looks to be headed toward “Fatal Attractioning” over Nathan.)

Love both Kathleen and Wally, both are such talented individuals!
    Amy2 IS insufferable! She’s Tuesday/Wednesday “filler.”

Steve…. He is actually not a legacy character. Cheryl the hick and Julian Jerome are not legacy characters.

    Jenny,
Respectfully, would you say adopted characters are not considered legacy? Lucas was adopted and raised from a toddler by Bobbie Spencer and Tony Jones.

Using that theory, Scott Baldwin and Emily Quartermaine would not be considered legacy, yet Hayden Barnes would even though she never had any interaction with Jeff Webber.

    Shay replied

Not to make too fine a point of it, Steve, but Scotty would be a legacy character because of his late mother, Meg, not stepfather, Lee Baldwin! I looked it up and the character of Meg first appeared—with her little son in tow—on GH in 1965. Cannot get much more historical than that! As for Emily, she was never a real Q, or even related to anybody who came before her on GH, so no, she’s definitely not legacy! Now when it comes to Hayden, well, she’s just a horrible mistake of a GH character, period….and trying to reinvent her at the 11th hour as a descendant of an original cast member (Dr. Steve Hardy, bio-dad of Jeff Webber) doesn’t make her place on the canvas any more palatable, acceptable or authentic!!! In terms of Lucas, that’s more of a judgment call…although he was adopted as a baby, he was fully brought up as a Spencer family member….and identified as part of that clan, so I suppose we can call him legacy, despite the fact that he is actually a Jerome by blood. (Ugh!)

I think the nurses’ ball advocates HIV/AIDS donation in alerting and reminding the viewers of this worthy cause. after all, the NB is not a telethon. Although, the idea of a live NB for the purpose of call in donations is an interesting idea.

When they do have the guys do their dancing storyline have redirected the children to other rooms or sets. Generally, if I remember, Emma or Jake usually does her numbers early and the guys do their later and near the end of the NB.

ONE thing that would get GH major publicity for the NB is if they could snag Richard Simmons to do a cameo. He has been in the news a lot lately and for him to be on the show would hit every news show, website and newspaper.

Wouldn’t that be great, and if they did a spoof of the early ’80′s workout classes with the girls in headbands and leg warmers and the guys in short shorts-so fun!

    Shay replied

That would be a more tasteful alternative to the same old “Chippendale-esque” segment that has become truly tiresome, dmr! .As far as Richard goes, I can only hope that if he were to make a return GH appearance, then it would be more in-step with his ’80′s persona, when he was sweet, sympathetic and caring as an exercise instructor who just wanted everyone to lead healthier and happier lives. That more recent monstrous creation that was popping out of closets and glitter-bombing people was simply a heinous headcase…and really not one bit funny!

  7. Rodd says:

I look forward to seeing what happens this year. I do hope that all the nurses that we’ve hardly seen in recent months like Epiphany and Felix will have more to do than poor Milo did last year. And then there’s Lucas who’s been in surgery so much that we haven’t seen or heard of him in months. The Nurses’ Ball is a time to see the cast show off their talents and I’d rather see more of the “non-contract” players than guest stars. I definitely don’t need some “name” person coming in to entertain. I’m a soap fan who wants his soap stars to shine. There are none brighter for me.

Love the Nurses Ball, it’s been a staple of the show for so many years. It’s always fun seeing the cast show off their talents in singing, dancing, and yes even taking off their clothes, lol. You will never get a complaint from me about the gorgeous men of GH doing their yearly, shall we be nice and call it, a dance routine. A shame that some people can’t take the stick out of their back and enjoy the show for the fun and entertainment it is. Maybe Leave it to Beaver reruns would be more appropriate for some.

And most importantly of all, it’s an event to raise awareness for a still very worthy cause, and a reminder that while many advances have been made, we still don’t have a cure for HIV and AIDS. A disease that doesn’t care whether you’re straight or LGBT, white, black, Latino, Asian, or what ethnic background you are, liberal or conservative, rich or poor. That’s what needs to be remembered when it comes to he Nurses Ball.
