5 November 5th, 2010 GH slides in ratings hits all-time low! AMC in the basement!

Not a good week in the ratings for ABC soaps!  The ratings are out for the week of October 25th – 28th and it shows that General Hospital hit an all-time low in total households and lost another 98,000 total viewers according to the ratings provided by Soap Opera Network. It would seem Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo’s return and the Brenda storyline antics are at this point, not translating to the viewing audience.

Elsewhere, All My Children ended up in sixth place of the six network daytime drama series.  AMC lost another 39, 00 viewers this past week.   The bright spot in the ABC Daytime line-up is once again One Life to Live which has continued week after week in October into November delivering compelling interwoven stories and high stakes drama, and the only New York soap, is still at number #4 even though they also lost 9,000 viewers.

To see how the rest of the soaps made out with the at home viewing audience, check out the official numbers and rankings after the jump!

Viewer are sending a message to the GH and ABC. In fact, they can’t speak any louder!! We do not like or support Guza’s vision for the show! It is time for Sonny and all his children to fade into the background and let other characters who the viewers want to see take the forefront for a while.
Come Monday morning, Guza and Phelps should be without a job!! The viewers haven’t left GH, GH left the viewers. We are waiting to come back, but we need a reason to return!

I totally agree!! Phelps & Guza have ruined GH. The writing, the acting and the directing are the best, but we have had enough of the daytime version of the Sopranos. I say put Sonny, Jason, Carly, Dante and Lulu on the back burner for a while and focus on other characters like the Quartermaines, Mac, Alexis, Diane and bring back Bobbie. How is it when things go wrong with her family, she is never around or talked about?

This is great for OLTL!! I stopped watching AMC years ago but it was only recently that I stopped watching GH. The Dante/Lulu/Brooklyn story is what really turned me off! Plus the wishy washy ways of Carly/Jax and Jason really wore thin! And when I heard Brenda was coming back, ugh I baled!! How long can Michael be in HS and how long can we the viewers be tortured by Sonnys kids and their ways?! Go back to the basics!! The Spencers/The Quartermains/The Hospital that is all the viewers really need. I may come back if they do that!!

I love VMG, but the writers didn’t do the return well, I was starting to get tired of them writing her like a shell, and the object for people to act around…the first month of her return she spent doing a lot of talking to 2 characters we didn’t know, then she got to PC and everyone whined around about how stupid, childish or man stealing she was, while she huddled in fear of falling for Sonny…I love SnB but come on…she can’t be in a room with him without loosing it. The format of this show needs to change. Stunt casting and writing for just a handful of people out of the whole cast isn’t working. A variety of better, interesting stories for more of the cast is the way to go. Look at the hey day of the show..the thing that was better was the variety of stories, the cast interactions…there were family and friends. I think when looking for ways to fix the show they turn to quick fixes..its not enough to plop VMG onto a sinking ship and hope it does the trick…they have to fix the broken vessel first…patch up all the holes and make it better not just do the same crap but with a new face in the mix. And the writing for women on this show needs some real work, it gets insulting… someone needs to get the memo that “hey..um …most of your viewers are women, maybe don’t write all the women on the show as crazies, shrews, or morons” seriously some of us are just as smart as men…sometimes smarter…gasp!

I will say this week was better than the past few weeks in watchability.

Only reason I watch AMC is for Susan Lucci, the plot lines are bad. We like bad Erica Kane!!!
