On Sunday night when the first envelope of the evening was opened up during the 43rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, former General Hospital cast member, Sean Blakemore (Shawn Butler) was announced as the winner of the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series category. Blakemore was MIA and so Vinessa Antoine (Jordan, GH) went up to the stage to accept on his behalf.
However, on Monday’s The Talk annual Emmy After-Party episode, Blakemore appeared dressed in a tux and was joined by Supporting Actress winner, former Y&R cast member, Jessica Collins (Ex-Avery). During their segment the ladies of the panel got the lowdown from Blakemore – he happened to have just landed in Los Angeles at the time his category came up and was in the car, when he learned of his victory. Sean has been shooting Devious Maids in Atlanta.
During The Talk, Blakemore got a few moments to give an acceptance speech. Here’s what he shared: “Above all things I thank God first. I have to thank the Emmys for granting me with this gift, and I really appreciate it. I have to thank Jill (Farren) Phelps who created this role for me a little over four years ago, and above all next to God for me, my family. My mom, my brothers and sisters, and my incredibly limitless supportive wife and daughter, thank you. I love you guys. Thank you.” Sean also recalled that he was nominated the first year he was on GH and his last, which made the win extra special for him.
