108 May 24th, 2012 GH’s Brandon Barash Speaks Out On The Killer Twists That Will Change Johnny Zacchara Forever!

General Hospital fans this week learned the shocking truth that it was Johnny Zacchara who shot out Anthony’s tires which caused the deaths of Cole and Hope, leaving a devastated Starr Manning seeking revenge in Port Charles.  But if that wasn’t enough, Johnny then kills his evil grandfather, Anthony!  And believe you me, many people would have citizens of Port Chuck would have loved to do that, too!

But with the killer twists came some fantastic material to play for Brandon Barash (Johnny) and more is on the way.  However, it meant the end of Bruce Weitz’s run as Anthony of the living! We hear Weitz is not done quite yet, as viewers will soon see how he appears in upcoming episodes.

Barash opened up to Soap Opera Digest in the latest issue (on newsstands now) to discuss the plot machinations with him at the epicenter!  “It was something of a shock.  But as an actor, I was pleased.  It means a lot in terms of where my journey goes as Johnny.  It’s one of those things that fundamentally changes a human being, and Johnny will never be the  same as a result.”

However, Brandon was less than thrilled that Johnny was responsible for murdering Anthony.   I was very upset when I found that out.  I think I have been lucky to have spent the amount of time that I have had with Bruce Weitz.  It’s been almost like five years.  So I was bummed out when I first found out he was leaving.  But it’s one of those things like the shooting of the tires that is a fundamental event that happens that changes who he is.   It’s going to be a fun journey for me to go as an actor.  So it’s very bittersweet.   I hope I do the story justice!”

    I hate that they killed Anthony Zacarra off. I hate it. They should of sent him away somewhere, but not kill him off. He was the most dangerous when he first begun the role, BUT they then made him a little crazy and psychotic. He played it with humor, and for ALL that is was worth. The man was candy on screen. BAD DECISION. There was no one like his character, very unique. I hope it becomes a BAD dream and Anthony stays. I would of loved to see him in more scenes with Luke, getting his hands dirty. Please reverse this to a BAD dream instead.

    Loved having the comic relief of Bruce Weitz. His scenes wilh Tracy were priceless. Will miss him on the show. Good luck with your future pursuits.

    I adore and love, love, love, Maurice Bernard, I hate Sonny Corinthous, on and off.There’s a big difference. You wrote to me, Damn barbara t. you really are a Sonny basher. the man is the star of the show. love it or not. And Maurice didn’t write the script. Stop bashing him please. I’m bashing a character not the man. I loved mb when he was Nico on all my children. If you think I don’t like mb go to the interview michael did with him and you will see I don’t hate mb. There are several people who agree with me about sonny’s behavior, Sonny and Jason get away with killing people all the time and pointing guns and I find it hypocritical that he would put star in jail for her pointing a gun at him that he admitted he could take away from her at any time during the assault. Sonny is not the only star on general hospital he is one of them.Also you made a comment that it was a racist what David said, David with the capital D. It was not if it was or if I thought it was I never would have left a post there and I am sure Michael knows what is going on here. Also I know that General hospital is general hospital, I’m talking about the crossovers,who are not on one life to live they are now a part of general hospital, So why can’t I make a comment about them? I can’t believe you left me those posts that I should let One life to live go. Seriously, I can’t believe your ticked off. like I said go to the interviews and you will see my feelings for maurice the man not sonny corinthous the character.

    Hi Barbara t: I’ve been away dealing with madness. Yes, there are other star’s on Gh other than Bernard, BUT with all the air he gets, obviously it’s telling that he is the star of the show as Susan Lucci was AMC. U do bash Sonny allot, and he didn’t write the script. I’m just being honest. YET your are entitled to bash whomever U want….. but as a reminder, I’m just saying, Bernard didn’t write the script..! I appreciate your candor regarding Sonny the actor and Bernard the person, and I understand it. But when comments are made that Sonny should go away for awhile to jail, or elsewhere…..keep in mind that for me-that means the ACTOR/ the person being gone, and not available for the viewer. U stated U loved MB as Nico, on AMC. How many centuries was that? He has been on GH for about 20years. How about loving him as Sonny on Gh? Or just loving Maurice? As you stated, add quotation marks, ” There are several people who agree with me about Sonny’s behavior “. End Quote of your’s. Yes there is, and there are several people that AGREE with me about Sonny being the star of the show- you had to read the comments they wrote about it, if you read my comment. Their comments were up under mine saying MB was the star of the show. Yes it was rascist what David capital D said. Oprah’s color had nothing to do with any of anything, and DAVID’S abbreviation of Oprah’s initials referencing to ” white superiority ” is nothing more than rascist, and other people agree with that. I wouldn’t of co-signed that with a ten foot pole, as a white person. Another woman on here said, when she see’s comments like that posted, she just goes right by them because its ignorance. I wonder why, humm? Furthermore, I never said you shouldn’t make a comment about OLTL crossover’s. I didn’t like you putting Todd on a pesdal stool over Sonny. Todd isnot the star of the show, is no match for Sonny, NOR was he the star of OLTL. The match for Sonny would be Trevor St. John in everyway. If OLTL cast is there to bring ratings, then I support them…. and I do enjoy the complexity. But it must be at a limit, and people should STOP swearing on more OLTL cast. THIS is General Hospital. I am a die hard fan of BOTH shows, including AMC (thats why I’m 1loveabcsoaps) and therefore my opinions are objective and not subjective. All 3 of those shows have been my favoritie at one time OR another, back and forth. RIGHT NOW, it’s about General Hospital and ONLY Gh until whenever it ends, IF it ends. Everything else has ENDED.     Good to hear from you, Yeah, I was a young one when Nico was on, but I always liked that guy, I may bash Sonny but I do not want to see him leave general hospital I know what you mean a lot of people want him gone, I don’t. Bless his heart, I felt so sorry for him the other day the look on his face when Christina came through the door, A very spoiled brat giving her parents hell and telling them they are going to be on a reality show called mob princess or she will be out the door, Seriously, If she was my 18 year old daughter I would hold the door open and show her the way out, no way, cameras, in my home, Sonny was so upset I did enjoy watching him and alexis squirm like a worm on a fish hook, It was cute. I think that the blending of the characters from one life to live to general hospital is working, We do have our work cut out for us again and now we have to boycott another stupid news show that is taking the 2 o’clock spot from that nasty revolution show and I do believe the chew has to be gone to, and yes general hospital is general hospital and right now I think the story telling is good, and Like you I was a abc soap lover and we have to do everything possible to save our last soap, I’m worried I don’t trust abc/disney.

    I loved Bruce’s Anthony Z..he was off his rocker at times and I loved how he called Maxie “Cookie”..I am sorry his time on the show will be over, once Johnny comes to terms with himself..when he found out that Claudia was his mother not sister, which I said years ago and got “booed”..lol (*Who’s laughing now?) that is when Johnny lost it..great acting…

    I love Grandpa Anthony to, He was crazy but that’s what I like about him he was fun to watch. Mary lou, I had a feeling that Claudia was Johnnys Mother to, I wish they could bring her back now that Sarah brown has been let go from days and reverse what they did to Anthony z. Ron what were you thinking I can mention a few other characters that should be out the door Bruce Weitz was one funny guy that I will miss.

    Didn’t crae much for Anthony….Was not into his character…Will Kate be set free now that we know johnny really shot out Anthony’s tires…Johnny killed Anthony, Cole & Hope…………………….Will he be brought to justice? And Johnny put Anthony’s body in the boat house…To make it look like Tracy had done him in……………………………Poor Kate is innocent…When will she find out it wasn’t her who shot out Anthony’s tires……………..I hope they don’t drag this on too long…..

    Johnny, despite being a “son” of a mobster, was a good kid. Now, thanks to the recent storyline, Johnny is headed down a dark path, and I am sorry. I don’t want Johnny made over into the image of Sonny. I liked Johnny because he was different. GH doesn’t need anymore amoral, brooding, depressing, violent characters. I hope Johnny can redeem himself and stay out of prison. Brandon is always a pleasure to watch. Crazy Anthony was a colorful character; Bruce Weitz will be missed.

    Disagree, it is far more interesting for the actor, more realistic and more interesting in term of storytelling and for viewers interest although it is not ‘nice’ lovey dovey development..

    Johnny was not a nice lovey dovey type. Even though is it more interesting for an actor playing someone dark and complex, which could be interesting in terms of storytelling, WHAT made Johnny so interesting is….. is as David said, he was a good kid, despite being the son of a mobster, and a BAD one at that. Johnny tried to do walk on the right side of the road, but would ocassionally be caught on the left side on the cliff. As a viewer, you never knew when Johnny would change, IF he would change. That kept it interestingl. Now it seems he is on the left side, traveling down that dark path, mean spirited without a concious killing his own blood. In that regard, that made him worst than Sonny. Sonny (the character) is known as the mobster with the Heart of Gold. And if that were the case, Johnny must of been the likable (gregarious) Prince (Harry).

    Grandpa anthony had a way with words, I will miss him to. I don’t want Johnny turning into Sonny either I like him. What a hypocrite Sonny is Star just lost cole and hope she takes Sonny at gun point a gun he could have grabbed from her at any time and is thrown in jail, Now yesterday there is Sonny pointing a gun at Todd but that’s ok and what did Michael cave Claudia in the head and kill her with? Yet star is in jail. I was starting to feel bad for Sonny because of the Kate/Connie problem well not anymore the all mighty Sonny should be in a cell next to Starr, Todd should press charges, What goes around comes around. Lets throw a little girl who lost her family in jail while the rest of the mob goes on, business as usual.

    The main characters of GH–Sonny, Jason, Luke–can kill anybody and get away with it, which makes me sick, especially when I think about Luke killing Jake. People go to jail for vehicular homicide, except in soaps.

I hope they dont write johnny off for OLTL characters who shouldnt have been on the show in the first place. and that the thing about Cartini they let good actors go.     Sounds like you weren’t a fan of OLTL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I liked them being on GH…More the merrier…………………………………………If you love OLTL you should be happy to see them on GH……………..Johnny isn’t goin anywhere……………………What was wrong w/ Cole & Hope.. HMMMMMMMMMM….I liked them…………..Oltl was the best soap .. My #1 favorite alway’s……………..

    I agree with you Susan and by the way it is Carlivati not Cartini. OLTL was the best show on ABC but obviously they didn’t care about viewers. Now GH is the best show on ABC and if they cancel it, beware for the loss of a network (ABC). I hate all of this and am permanently done with them until I see something positive. Keep GH on the freaking air.

    I’m with you on this one Susan m. Don’t you love how todd made Sonny look like the giant clown with the red nose yesterday? And Starr is out of jail in record time today. Looks like Sonny has his work cut out for him with Todd manning and John Mcbain in town. I think all the one life to live crossovers are now characters on general hospital and they are blending in beautifully. I know you didn’t like Anthony z. I did he made me laugh hes a good actor hate to see him go.

    I agree with you Brandon. OLTL characters are like fish out of water on GH. Starr is far too whiny and they seem to be characters with giant red clown noses (they stand out away from the GH crew). I hate seeing Anthony go, he drove me crazy and made me laugh my sides off and made me want someone to SHUT him UP! lol But he is an amazing actor and he will be missed.

I think they fit in just fine on GH…And I don’t think Starr is too whiny……..And they don’t stand out away from Gh crew…Sounds like to me tou didn’t like OLTL… You are knocking it…I am happy to see OLTL characters on GH…That’s one of my main reasons why I watch GH….Because I miss OLTL….And I disagree with Brandon….I am just sticking-up for my favorites soap OLTL….It was #1 in my book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Didn’t care much for Anthony..Didn’t care for his personality……

    @ Susan M. No offense to you but I would rather the actors from OLTL have their own show back. Contrary to what you think, I am an AVID FAN of OLTL & AMC and have been from the beginning, I loved the shows and still do. You can call me a purist but I think the actors talents deserve their own platform in which to showcase their vast experience. As for Starr, I am speaking solely as it refers to the character she is playing. I would have chosen a more mature approach for her role in dealing with her grief than the one of the writers… but that’s why I am not writing scripts. I am thrilled the actors are working in whatever capacity, as there are many other displaced workers associated with the cancelled shows that also need to be working, not just the actors. Ideally, my hope is that they all will once again be working on OLTL, rather than assimilating into GH… that would help all the workers who lost their jobs.

    I would like oltl to have their own show again… But Jan it isn’t going to happen…So I am happy to see thhem on GH….Better than not seeing them at all….But ABC will never put OLTL back on the air or anyone else….This is the way it is they are on GH….And I am enjoying it……………….

    hopefully johnny brandon barash stays on general hospital. are they going to bring claudia back. i hope sarah brown comes back. that would be great news if claudia comes back. you never know. please bring back jackie zeman as bobbie spencer. we all miss her so much. please general producers about time you bring back bobbie spencer. i am happy kristina wagner is back as felicia. but her acting needs inproving. she is a little rusty right now. the only scene i liked so far is maxie and felicia in jail.

    I HATE everything about this story line. I don’t like RC turning Johnny into a monster and I REALLY dislike the fact that Bruce Weitz will be leaving the show. He was great as AZ and IMO it’s a huge loss. I’m also very much afraid that taking Johnny in this direction means BB will also get his walking papers soon. So much for FV’s denials that it wasn’t true. I really don’t see how they can take Johnny in this direction and keep him a central character on the show. Bad move, big mistake. Is this done to accommodate more OLTL actors moving to Port Charles? I gotta wonder! They should have locked Anthony away somewhere if they wanted to get rid of the character.

    I think you are onto something. I think this might be the reason for the uproar about his supposedly being fired because, I too can see Johnny being painted into a corner now. It’s too bad.

    I see Johnny getting back with Carly and HIM thinking everything is right as rain in his life, but always looking over his shoulder at what he did. He can’t take back what he did to his grandfather. I have heard that Cole and Hope might not be about as “dead” as Robin is, but that remains to be seen.

    And Bruce Weitz was great as Anthony. Loved the “Weekend at Bernie’s” with Tracy and Luke yesterday. Only those three could have pulled it off. Maybe they could give Anthony a brother or cousin.

    A brother or a cousin would be nice. I know I don’t want Anthony to leave. “Weekend at Bernie’s” was fun to watch. And only IDIOT cops would let that go, Wonder where poor Anthony will show up today? Maybe Sonny’s backyard. I also heard that not Cole but Hope may be alive. Forget the organ stealing, CALLING DR. DAVID HEYWARD. He knows how to keep people alive.

    It was time for AZ to hit the road, and Johnny can follow on his heels. GHMobsterville is finally coming to an end and I couldn’t be happier. GH fans have complained for the last ten years each and every time some lame butt mobster rolls into town. I would much rather see Todd, John, Victor Lord Jr., etc out wit Sonny any day of the week and twice on Sunday!

    In other words you want General Hospital actors gone, so the show will only have Stars from One Life to Live? Your show is gone why turn Gh into OLTL? That is what I am seeing on this show . The same storylines that was on oltl. The producer and the writers may be making some people happy who lost their show, but what about some of the fans from General Hospital that is not liking their show invaided and seeing the changes happening with their show. Fans have complained about TheMob Stories, Seeing the same people on everyday, Some bad acting, and favorite being fired. The fact is this was Fans of General Hospital who had a right to complain. The show fans invested their time in and grew to love /hate the characters. I can understand why some fans of this show is upset because of the feeling their favorites or being fired to bring on more people from One Life To Live.
    I was a fan of both shows. but I feel my show OLTL is gone I have accepted that.
    General Hospital my other soap should develop the characters and storylines from the writers that are already on GH, and stop pushing aside actors/actresses that was already on this show, for people from another show.

    there really has not been anyone who has quite taken on sonny, defusing him rather than having more shootouts until todd. this has real potential to help transition gh from the mob era–not kill off sonny and jason (they do have their fan base and have been good actors) but have them and the mob be one part of the canvas. if all of sonnys kids reject the fruits of his ill-gotten gains (like christina with being bought into college) maybe even sonny can turn into something else

    You left me a post may 25 at 10 :36 pm, Its below, you said that star did not show Sonny the gun she planned on using it if Michael didn’t show up. When Sonny was telling Michael about the assault Sonny said that he could have grabbed the gun at any time, he was letting her get it out of her system. Also I do not think that Todd is the star of the show but Neither is Sonny there are several stars on general hospital Todd and sonny are a part of the many other characters.Back to star at the beginning of her waving that gun at him you could see that Sonny could have grabbed that gun shes a little girl compared to him, and I do not think that the One life to live crossovers are in any way taking over general hospital their a part of the new stories being told. Also I have been a fan of general hospital, all my children and One life to live since the beginning 49 years for general hospital and there have been many years of good stories till the gangsters hit port charles, Right now general hospital is good again the stories are interesting and the original characters from general hospital are not in any way being put on the back burner, the mixing of the two soaps are making general hospital watchable again. Newbies pop up on soaps all the time, so what if they are characters from another soap with the same names. There shouldn’t be a war between soap fans this should be the soap fans sticking together to keep general hospital alive and kicking and staying on for another 50 years.

    Cool although i will miss dearly Anthony, fun villain he was..but i hope they can keep Johnny no matter what, makes him a complex villain who can do evil deeds but still has an heart deep down and vulnerability, layers..we don’t want to lose BB and his character bad boy Johnny Zacchara.

    I’m with you Lisa! If they completely destroy Johnny’s character and fire BB, they will be ruining the show for me. I had great hopes for his relationship with Carly which would drive Sonny mad. ;)

    That may be the end of GH for me, because I’m sick of smug Todd already. I saw enough of him on OLTL.

    I actually wasn’t expecting this. It’s all going to depend on how they play this out in the coming months. Must be about time for one of Geary’s vacations. Pin the murder on Tracy, Luke takes the fall for it and escapes the country, and then it comes out later Johnny did it.

    Bruce Weitz was a real asset to GH and I cannot believe they killed him off and that Johnny did it. Brandon has been doing amazing work on this story line but I am upset that Bruce is going. He really brought some humor, some cachet and amazing acting to GH. Loved his scenes with Tracy and Luke (the “weekend with Bernie” scene was hysterical). I hope GH finds a way to keep Anthony and that Johnny does not self-destruct. This is a soap, the writers can find a way!

    If general hospital has to get rid of different characters because of money getting rid of Anthony was wrong, Go to the port charles police department there are a few people there they can get rid of, Hell they never put anyone in jail anyway except poor little girls like starr and Matt will be next, where is the justice?     I don’t like that they made Johnny Z kill Anthony in cold blood with him begging for his life. I always thought of Johnny as the mobster with a heart but now he seems so ruthless. It makes me sad.

    I agree. It was cold and dark, I did not think that Johnny could ever do anything like that including shooting out Anthonys tires, Maybe its a nightmare and Johnny and we the fans wake up. I loved Anthony z. he was funny he can’t really be dead.

    Please Susan M, this is GH not OLTL. Although it is getting a little confusing. I like Llanview visitors, but they need to go home at some point. This is Port Charles baby..Sonny runs this town! And Anthony needs to stick around. Please writers,make this storyline a hallucination or something

    I know this turn of events is surprising and for many, disappointing. I wonder if Cartini is moving this direction in character development and storyline to maybe tone down the mob influence for which a large segment of GH audience is growing weary. Just a thought.

    I guess my question at this point is, will Brandon be leaving the show. Seems like his character is pretty much ruined now. I really hate that. Was hoping that there would be a twist that saved him, but it doesn’t look that way. His callous remark about a 3 year old little girl being collateral damage, pretty much ruined him for me.

    Johnny Z wouldn’t kill anyone, so it was dumb – and new writer stuff – we go through that every time new writers show up lol. I’m happy for BB, however, it is giving him some broader material. Sad about losing his Dad – he was good to have around. It’s one more price we pay for the insanity of Disney/ABC – and gosh, we’d better watch all of the commercials!!     Wasn’t that great, Barbara? I remembered that from years ago – I was shocked when that aired – completely shocked – and I LMAO – and obviously have never forgotten it – I just found it on YouTube and was so glad I did – I was telling my grandson about it lol – still think its great…he’s had quite the career – and he was sure a great nut on GH.     They better not be getting rid of Johnny. I adore him and was really pissed they took this road with his character. But if he somehow goes to jail for killing Hope and Cole, when it was an accident and yet Luke walks the streets after a hit and run, drunk driving and killing Jake, I think I will finally after 28 years stop watching this show. Saint Sonny and Saint Jason can kill and threaten people left and right and never get punished.

    I agree with you about all the people in Port charles that get away with murder, Luke driving drunk killing little Jake, St. Sonny and Jason that threatens every one that’s not in the mob and in the mob, anyway, I don’t want to see Johnny thrown in jail either, However I don’t agree with you that what happened to Cole and Hope was a accident if he is responsible for shooting the tires out of anthonys car and that car hits another car and causes a death who ever shot the tires out is at fault. Hopefully he didn’t do it, Ron has a way of turning things around and he is really good at it, He is by far my favorite soap writer EVER and I trust in what he is doing even if I don’t agree. I am with you I do not want to see johnny gone.

    At first, I was shocked and disappointed at Johnny’s recent actions (sleeping with Connie, shooting out the tires, killing Anthony). Yes, Johnny is in the Mob, but there were lines I didn’t think he would cross. Now, thanks to Brandon Barash’s talent, we will see how much his conscience is bothering him and his feelings of guilt are tearing him up. Hope there will be a way to keep the character of Johnny and his portrayer on the show for a long time to come!

    I absolutely HATE that they had Johnny kill Anthony the way they did. Johnny was NEVER like Sonny, Jason or Anthony in that he was not as cold or uncaring as they were. I really do not like what they are doing to his character. I hope they can find a way to redeem him.
    That being said, Brandon is knocking it out of the park and I hope watching his conscience (and Anthony) torment him will give us some good watching.

    She didn’t just show Sonny the gun she was planning on killing him if Michael hadn’t shown up. As far are Maurice is concern some may think Todd is the star of this show but believe me he is not. that would be Sonny. If any other character had to be intergrated into this show my wish would have been David Canary from All My Children’s the best male actors on soaps and he didn’t have to come up with glib line that are not funny , to show his acting skill, he was natural. Anthony was a zany pop up kinda guy who brought humor, intrigue, and all things considered, loved Johnny… i believe it was mutual. although “muddied”. first, Patrick/Robin/Matt… now: Anthony/Johnny/??Claudia? – Carly. two families that were FUN to watch. Soap fans/protesters… ie: not believable… how can we accept and redeem Johnny from the torn up gut wrenching of causing the “death” of starrs family. I don’t know…. i was hoping it was Kate’s “connie” who did this. GH please find a way to keep Johnny.

    I hated Anthony – but have liked Bruce Weitz since his days on Hill Street Blues.
    Yesterday’s episode with Anthony’s corpse at the Q mansion was funny.
    Too bad they couldn’t keep him around for a while and do a Weekend at Bernie’s type story – have him show up and people interact with the old dead guy.

    Sure would love to see how heather got that body into her car without any help, Unless she is getting help from someone or she is the hulk. I hate that Anthony is dead, I like that guy, He was nuts that’s why he was so interesting. They should have just kept him alive tending to his roses and making naughty remarks, He will be missed, There are still so many people working at the pcpd they could have got rid of and kept Bruce Weitz.

    I don’t know how Heather got Anthony in the car either. Maybe another psychopath like Alison Perkins is helping her–they have a lot in common; maybe they were roommates once. And what was with that smile on Anthony’s face? He didn’t die looking that happy.

    Yes, it would have been nice if they had kept Bruce Weitz. Anthony was quite a character. Maybe Bruce could come back as Anthony’s brother.

    i’ve only watched GH, faithfully, like two years… i’ve read enough, posters, fan reaction to the MOB in port charles… ie: the SONNY, Jason, Carly show… and i def. agree with the latter. fleshing out… showing more of the actors, simply makes for more fan favorites. Has Sonny, ever really lost any one close to him? for him to quit the Mob? a wife or child? my take on this… what about Michael? this would def. shake Sonny… and Carly… to the core. Put them back on even keel… level with the rest of Port Charles…. ie: Jason… hopefully, finds his way back to Sam… and starts his family and goes back to the quartermaines. This, would def. be a good story in any case. I still like the possibility of Jason and Claudia (sarah brown)… which further, mixes in Johnny.

    Yes, Sonny lost a pregnant wife (Lily) due to his mob ties. She was blown up outside of Lukes Club right in front of Sonny’s face. (1995 or1996)
    That’s why (if you have been watching for 2 years) when Brenda was getting in the car after their church wedding (headed on their honeymoon) with Sonny watching her get in the car/ the car BLEW UP… that is why he was affected so bad, bc it was a repeat of what he had witnessed with his first wife, Lilly. In both instances, Luke was by his side, keeping Sonny from running toward the burning car. As we know, Brenda lived bc she was removed from the car, somehow, but Lilly didn’t. Sonny, married Lilly due to mob ties to Lily’s father (who wanted the marriage) to make Lily happy, bc she loved Sonny so much. Sonny was in love with Brenda (who was DROP DEAD GORGEOUS) and had decided to make his marriage work w/ Lily. At the same moment Lily’s limo blew up (making Sonny a free man), Brenda was marrying Jax, but was not in love with him, as he was with her.

    Go to Youtube. It’s one of the BEST scenes in Daytime, ever….. GH won Best Drama that year.

    I loved Bruce Weitz, as a actor. But I never liked Anthony on GH? I will miss all of the crazies, that he will make. But at the same, this storyline will play into the next month. To the real killer, of Johnny . I was and will still be, a Johnny fan. And his ghost will haunt, everyone that a motive and the means to killing him. That story will Intresting to watch. I know when Johnny snapped, was when he found out that Claudia was his mother. Ever since he wanted revenge. And by killing Anthony, was for her. Cause he was using, her to his needs. So Johnny wanted to give her, some leeway for him. To recover to what he has broken, in his way of making havoc in his life. With Michael killing her, he has been reeling from that. That’s why he took Michael under his wing.

    I am still a Johnny fan too. Anthony talked about Claudia so disrespectfully that it pushed Johnny over the edge. Who can blame Johnny for killing Anthony after he lied to him for years about being his father and called Claudia a whore? But I will miss Anthony–he was one funny, wild, and crazy guy.

    It is much easier to be bad than it is to be good. Johnny was always struggling with his unfortunate upbringing and always tried to do good (as far as we knew). Having him be responsible for the killing of Cole & Hope (if they are even really dead) is stupid and sucks. Also having him shoot Anthony point blank — really?? I am so sick of the mob stories on GH. Been a loyal viewer for years and all I can say is thank goodness for a FF button!!! I thought the new writers would slowly get rid of the mob, but sure doesn’t look that way. Thanks to TPTB for ruining yet another character on GH.

    Patrick: Yes, Vincent is ALL of that which you wrote, however Vincent will NOT be taking the role he made famous on an ( ABC SOAP ) to ANY other network, to boost their ratings. Wishing thinking.     If they can keep vile characters like Sonny and Jason on, they can keep Johnny. First off, I loved the twist that Johnny was the culprit. About time a soap has the balls to have a popular contract player as the killer. Second, I’ve always hated the Anthony character and found him to be way over the top. Anthony was a major piece of sh** who made life hell for everyone. He killed Lucky’s wife, his own wife, pimped out his own teenage daughter to older skeevy men, shot Dante, blackmailed Tracy, shot Kate on her wedding day, etc. The bastard had to die. I’m glad Johnny whacked the old man. If I know Carlivati and the style he writes, I can more than expect another twist in the Starr/Hope/Cole saga which will eventually get Johnny off the hook. Other than that, Bradon Barash has been beyond brillant in this storyline and I cannot wait to see more.

    If GH can spare how many OLTLifer’s, 5 and counting, THEN certainly GH can bring one (1) AMC alum on board and pay homorage to. It’s only fair. And I don’t think David Haywood would AT ALL turn GH into AMC, bc Haywood is such a dark, and enigmatic character, that he can wind up in town without a mention to his past (meaning his lifestyle in Pine Valley) and just FIT right in doing his doctor work, and joining the other (business) corrupt in Pine Valley, like Edward, without even having any ties to the mob and Sonny. David Haywood certainly was in enough ‘ good ole fashion ‘ trouble in Port Charles, and there was never ANY mention of ties to the mob concerning it. It was ‘good ole fashion ‘ trouble. His daily life, his job, his love life, or BUSINESS. So yes, although I agree with you that GH is GH and AMC is AMC since I am the one who FIRST wrote those EXACT words on this site concerning GH and OLTL, I am most certain that 1 cast member of AMC ( who is as powerful as Vincent Irizarry) isn’t going to turn GH into AMC with all the OneLifer’s running around on set and screen. IF that’s the case, we may as well RENAME General Hospital RIGHT NOW, into ” Live Life at General Hospital “. The folks from OneLife ocassionally refer back to character’s on that show, but Dr. David Haywood (who was getting a new start at the END of AMC) can show up in town with no family (starting life again) and make no mention of his past life-and therefore other character’s from AMC, by bringing them into existence on GH. I’m sorry, I have to ALL OUT DISAGREE with you on this one, and YOU and I always fall along the same opinions. However… maybe, long down the road (should Gh stay on air and when storyline is bleak) they can dive into Haywooods past (that he keeps under lock and key) and explore his bad boy doctor past. But that would be, WAY down the road like 3 years from now. Should Susan/ Erica Kane show up in Port Charles…..now THAT would be turning General Hospital into All My Children. And that would be NO MATTER what (new) character she show up as, as as Italian princess, running the mob. She will still be to us, Susan/ Erica Kane Lucci who are one in the same. (Can’t help but love her). lol

    Vincent Irizarry, so far as i know… has been on guiding light, Lujac? Y&R, David Chow. of course, the indominatable Dr. David Hayward, on AMC… he also did a two year stint on SANTA BARBARA. if fans, who are fans of VI’s acting… He’s not a type cast actor… Fans love his acting talent. IMO… it’s like, he really became AMCS Leading man… after David canary and palmer cortdlant left. Passing the torch if you will. I like your idea of bringing him on GH…. as an homage to AMC. i mention his acting gigs.. cause, he’s believeable in all his roles. who’s running GH hosp? I agree with most fans, that he’d be good with Anna. Toward the end of amc’s run…. he blew me away with his work, with Dr. Angie… She brought us fans insight to Haywards humanity… he has that it factor, we ached for his finding glimpses of connecting to people. i might be stretching… but, he is FUN to watch.

    I hate that Johnny was made the killer. Johnny was at least an interesting character. Now he is the same as the others. But of course he has to suffer. Unlike the dumb Sonny. His character says the same lines over and over and does terrible things but always gets away with it. At least on the other soaps characters went to jail. When Jax was let go I was disappointed because it made Carly’s character more interesting. But now Johnny is being ruined too. No wonder Steve Burton left.
