Chad Duell spoke to Crushable.com all about his young career, and what led him to the soap world, and playing the imprisoned Michael Corinthos on General Hospital. According to the Crushable post on how he took over the role of Michael from his predecessor, Drew Garrett they related: ”Drew Garrett won the role of Michael Corinthos in April 2009, and later, Chad got the part when Drew’s contract expired, and producers then scrapped a new character they had developed for him. (Instead of Michael, he would’ve been a love interest for Kristina Corinthos Davis, who is Michael’s sister.)”
Here are a few excerpts of interest from the feature post:
Duell on how he feels on Michael’s current jail time: “He’s a tough kid. He doesn’t want to be in the mob. If you’re ever a kid .. . in jail with scary people around you, you’re gonna be a freaked-out shell of a kid. I like showing more sides to him. I want (to show) his heart more than his anger. I don’t want him to be one way.”
Duell, who was inspired by Tom Cruise’s acting and commentary on the DVD of Cruise’s movie Vanilla Sky to get into acting on how it made his high school years tough:. ”It was horrible for me. I was mocked for being into drama. I got to a point where I wanted to be by myself. I’m kind of a loner. I don’t like to go to parties.”
